I was told that every box of 60 has atleast 1 of each character in it. it would be nice if it had 3 of each and 4 of the perceived popular ones.

are these dates US or UK?? I would like to know the UK dates please.

, the motor in there isn't designed for the loads you are looking to give it. if you get it so it grips, you are straining the motor more and will burn it out sooner rather than later.

nice job.

Peco Gauge 1 Rails or Peco Gauge G45 Rails
locoworks replied to jamesed_1971's topic in LEGO Train Tech
250 and 200 refer to the height of the rails in 1000's of an inch. 250 is 1/4 inch tall and 200 is 1/5 inch tall. use an online converter for heights mm. I'd suggest 250 is more likely due to the flange depth on lego wheels., if it is even deep enough?? -
close inspection of the pillar between the 2 centre windows second floor under the 4 flowerpots looks like bricks have been painted?? grey mortar on the horizontals but not the verticals???

Pressure Control Valve
locoworks replied to NORAN's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
great idea. might be nice if you could use the excess pressure and also use lower pressure to set up a switch system to operate the pump motor so it works like a conventional compressor with air reservoir?? make the high pressure switch adjustable with a screw or something?? not 100% lego i'm sure but authentic operation. -
take a photo or short video showing yourself with your boxes and the labels and also any correspondence and email between the seller and yourself and TLG representative emails and send them the lot. if the TLG guy hasn't emailed you ask them to and show the email on your monitor in the video too. might be enough??

What is the value of this signed box?
locoworks replied to Henrik Ludvigsen's topic in LEGO Train Tech
now you've had the box defaced it's worth less than a new one..... -
on a technical note, are they duplo bodies running on 9V or PF track???

the digitrax zephyr is a good piece of kit, you could buy a couple of cheap DC controllers and use the jump ports on the back of the zephyr allowing direct control ( for speed and direction only on the jump ports without pressing buttons ) to have direct control of 3 trains at once. alternatively buy a suitable interface and use one of the free JMRI softwares to run the zephyr from your PC

Limited Slip Differential
locoworks replied to Doc_Brown's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
instead of trying to get limited slip diffs, why not just use 4 small motors wired in parallel and drive each wheel independently? any motor getting more or less strain will speed up or bog down accordingly and if a wheel spins or gets air it won't stop the other ones turning it will just rev harder cos of no load on it. this set up will use a little more current from the battery but the weight of the vehicle only needs a specific amount of energy to move it at a given speed whether that is one big motor or 4 little ones shouldn't make a lot of difference to the power needed?? there will just be more heat loss at a guess???- 66 replies

the snag with dreaming about 8 or 10 coupled engines is that they would look bad going round the sharp lego tracks, if they even could?? i'd like to see some smaller loco's rather than big boys and mallets.

it needs rods on it?

Best Batteries
locoworks replied to MrNumbskull13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
their cost is the prohibitor at a guess for us tight legoholics?? i have started using 'energiser industrial' AA's they are cheap enough and have good power. there is a comparrison somewhere online that checks out around 20 AA makes of battery and the energiser industrial is very near the top below the lithium types and a couple of other expensive alkaline types. bang for buck they are a good option. -
Land-Rover Defender 110
locoworks replied to Sheepo's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
i like the idea of a landy model, but what is the parts list?? how much do all the parts cost for a static model without power functions remote control?? is a kit available with all the bits? and if so how much?? -
the axles don't really cause more friction in themselves, they just don't allow the outer wheels to rotate at a faster speed to the inner wheels on curves so that causes friction between the wheel treads and the rails rather than the axles in the holes. why would a loose axle have more friction than a loose pin??? anyways i'm going to get it when it hits the shelves cos i like it.

i suggest a simple ( ish ) solution would be to get some nickel silver 'tyres' made for the BBB drivers and then use some springy phopher bronze wipers on the top of the tyres/wheel treads. many OO/HO wheels have plastic centres, but the tyre and flange are metal not just the tyre. maybe use the flangeless wheels and fit a one piece tyre and flange around the wheel and then the wipers could run on the flange edge instead of the tread.
