    Thanks again everyone :) It was just trial and error. I started building the mill bottom to top. So that and the proportions which the mill should have, determined the size of the dome. But it took quite some time to figure it out.

    Aw, thanks again for the kind words, everyone! Normally, I tend to hide every stud With this shape it wouldn't even be possible. There are no "wedge tiles" to do it. But I have to say, that I actually like the studs on this model and I maybe would have built the mill that way even if those tiles would exist

    Oh, wow. Thank you very much, guys Makes me happy, that you like it. Interior is very important to me and it's often the most fun part of the building process. I like to imagine what it would be like to live there if I were a minifigure.

    Hi everyone! Haven't been here for a long time. My last builds weren't town related and also I was busy with other non Lego stuff. But, I'm back now I just finished a new MOC. It's kind of modular, but it's not a Modular In addition to my Amsterdam project I also wanted to build a windmill. It is loosely based on the windmills at Kinderdijk in the Netherlands and the windmill at Rövershagen in Northern Germany. The mill has an octagonal shaped base and a roof that rotates. It was quite a challenge to build. I struggled a lot and even wanted to quit. The size and the shape of it pushed me way out of my comfort zone. The first two levels are fully furnished. On the ground floor there is a pottery workshop with a kiln, a pottery wheel, shelves for clay, different types of glaze and finished items. On the second floor there is the apartement of the potter. This floor is splitted into separate smaller modules so it can be removed and the ground floor can be accessed. Also the middle part and the roof of the mill are separate modules.     Lovely modular I like the front of the pub very much and the interior is wonderful, too. You paid great attention to details and you've created a great atmosphere! There's just a minor detail that I don't like that much: in my opinion there are too many tendrils. I would have liked it better if they were just on the roof. But apart from that, I like it very much. There is so much going on and so much to discover. Can't wait to see it built with real bricks.

    I love this so much! Compared to your other builds this is rather small, but there are so many stunning and clever details. The floor pattern is just awesome. I also love the colours and your choice of minifigures .

    Great work! Love the straight lines and the clean look. I also like the contrast between the shades of grey of the building and the colourful vivid street life.

    Absolutely wonderful! There is so much going on and there are so many lovely details! My favourite parts are the fish work area and the fruit and vegetable stands. Looks so realistic.

    Beautiful creation! It looks very peaceful and relaxing :-) Love the pathways and all the different flower beds. Didn't know that the different petals already exist in so many different colours. My favourite parts are the water and the bridge across it.

    Thank you very much for the mention It's a bit of everything others have said before and it's slightly different for each building I've done so far. There are some buildings that I started without any detailed plans (especially at the beginning when I left my dark ages in 2013). I only knew which purpose they should have and built them mostly with bricks I already had. Then there are some buildings where I drew some raw sketches first to get a feeling for proportions and dimensions (did this for the Mom And Pop Store). Often I see buildings (in my hometown or on city breaks) and immediately start to think about how a particular detail or the whole construction can be built in Lego. For example, my Main Post Office is based on a building in my hometown. I began by constructing the front corner with real bricks in white and red to see what could work and then switched to LDD, where I constructed the complete facade but no interiors to get a feeling of how many parts I would need. My canal houses are obviously inspired by a trip to Amsterdam. I originally only wanted to build one, the book store that is an almost exact recreation of an existing building. The project then evolved. The two other buildings are based on parts/details of several exisiting canal houses. Even the house boats are inspired by existing ones. Google Image Search and Street View helped a lot with those. For the canal houses I also started whith LDD, as I knew I did not had enough bricks and would have to BL a lot. For the bookstore I started with the facade of the second floor, for the other two with the facade of the ground floor. Garage + Mom & Pop Store Main Post Office Amsterdam Canal Houses The interiors always come last and are always built with bricks I already have and without any digital tool. I love building them. It's like playing with a dollhouse (which I loved as a kid). I try to build only things that I would like or need as a minifigure if I had to live there. Inspiration often also comes when dismantling previous MOCs or official sets or when sorting bricks and when seeing MOCs of other builders, like @cimddwc, @snaillad, @Kristel or @Redhead1982 for example. When MOD-ing it's like @koalayummies said: this is a very different process. There's no planning or LDD involved.     This is so beautiful! I really love the colour scheme and all the architectural details. My favourite parts are the dining hall (and how it is included in the whole building) and the terrace right in front of it.

    I love it! It's absolutely perfect! There are so many wonderful details and clever building techniques. The colours work very well together. My favourite parts are the rounded roof and the top balcony. The whole building reminds me somehow of Barcelona or Madrid. I will keep looking at it for a while since there's so much to discover.

    Beautiful modular with a clever front window! I'm not so fond of the red and blue colour combination of entrance but I have to say that it works quite well next to your other modular The interior is spot-on as always. You have a very distinctive clean building style that I like very much!

    That is so beautiful! Wonderful colour combination and detailed facades. My favourite part is the area with the stairs leading to the tower.

    Love those two buildings. They have both a great run-down and shabby atmosphere. I really like the colours and all the details like the pipes, the ball on the roof, the AC units and all the graffiti.

    This is so lovely! The building, the interior, the minifigures ... everything fits together very well. The photography and the story behind the pictures really bring it to live. My favourite parts are the rooftop and the clock collection.

    I really like it. You did a great job capturing the look of the original model. My favourite parts are the snow covered roof with the windows and the stone work on the bottom of the building. I also would love to see pictures of the whole village.

    I love it! Very clean and modern architecture with lovely details like the different mailboxes, the vending machine, the drone and the postcard rack. Would love to see it next to your other buildings!

    Thank you very much. You should definitely go. I really liked it there. Thanks. Yeah, well, it's LEGO. Minifigs are strong And isn't this the reason why canal houses have pulleys in the gable? So you can lift heavy stuff and pull it through the window. And yes you're right, most of the boats have a lot flowers on top. I wanted to do that also, but I didn't like the way it looked. So I went for "clean" roofs. What are "amsterdammetjes"? Thank you. The corner building is based on the canal house at the corner of Prinsengracht and Brouwsersgracht. It has indeed some more details on the facade, but I found it hard to incorporate them. Thank you very much! Glad you like it. Thanks. Thank you very much.     This is such a beautiful building! The colours match very well and I love the windows on the front. My favourite part is the interior though. I also really like the power lines. They are simple but they add a lot the atmosphere. Well done!
