Yep, both kids and parents are impressed by bigger boxes. If you're a kid trying to convince a parent to buy a set, you need all the help you can get. Unless you're Prequel Yoda, and the person you're facing matches your ability with the Force, then size does matter, sadly. Sorry OT Yoda, your wise saying has been retconned.

Please don't leave, we all enjoy good MOC's here. Even if you did copy (which I'm not saying you did) we ALL draw inspiration from others on building so as long as you aren't taking credit for a directly copied MOC (which you aren't) then it's perfectly fine. Not every MOC needs an MLA source list of every building technique used. I agree though that in the future any copying complaints should be addressed with PM's. Iceman's thunder has been stolen over this claim. Let's not always jump to assumptions.

Micro-Chibi may be my favorite scale after seeing this. Love Maul on his bike.

Thanks! That is a good idea; I will put it on CUUSOO later tonight, if only to see if I can get a comment from someone at TLG. Yeah. I just had to build it to see what it would look like...and it's just as ridiculous as I had hoped it would be. That's how I feel. I think TLG goes overboard with their favorite play feature sometimes. They don't lock in, of course, but they fit snug. I may have to do a slight edit to prevent the cones from colliding when they're both in, I didn't test that.

What is Your Favorite Lego Star Wars Year?
StoutFiles replied to JackJonespaw's topic in LEGO Star Wars
2006, for its devotion to the OT. Every set from that wave was a winner. -
People often ask me what I think is the best part of a new set. Is it the new and improved minifigures? The collection of parts? The fun and exciting build? No! It's the need to launch missiles from everything with my fingers. And TLG is listening to the consumer and giving us flick overload to the delight of everyone. Clearly the flick fire missile is the champion of the Star Wars sets...and it's time TLG recognizes it by building us a UCS flick fire set! This is only 203 pieces though. Hopefully when TLG makes it they go bigger, I want it to dominate my Star Wars display! Feel free to comment on your love for the flick fire missile.

Youtube: Will the builder(s) of this masterpiece please step up so that I can praise you?

Kids are more willing to spend $60 on an X-wing than Lars' Homestead. They make more money rereleasing popular sets than they do making new sets and hoping they sell well. "Fight the Empire in the new Lars' Homestead! Can Aunt Beru and Uncle Owen avoid a fiery death from the invading Sandtroopers? Comes with two Sandtroopers, Aunt Beru, Uncle Owen, and two skeletons. 632 pieces."

I'm in the same boat. Partially because I don't like seeing my sets and figures become outdated, and partially because I worry that this continued push of mass merchandise will make the brand go stale.

You'll need to remove the printed tile to do this properly. Perhaps someday we'll get a new dewback. Once a month I come real close to buying one on the aftermarket.

Would you mind showing the pieces used to build Treadwell? It is awesome, and I must have one. Of all the deleted scenes, this one really should have stayed in. We would get a better sense of Luke's dreary work, we'd get to see another cool droid, and we get to see him viewing the battle.

Yes and no. Sure, we'll get some new ideas here and there but the vast majority will be retreads. Every 4 years they have to rerelease a popular model so that a new wave of kids has a chance of buying a set. We've had three versions of multiple sets but still no Yavin 4, cantina, etc. Here's hoping they get around to that sooner than later.

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
StoutFiles replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Are the Alien sets still being made? I assumed they chose Ree-Yees because that mold had potential for the alien line. Otherwise they should have chosen someone that was a little more important, like Max Rebo. -

Legoboy, you aren't allowed to embed preliminary images here. Just link to the image, don't embed it. -

You're joking, right? That figure is already in the new Droid Escape, which is in stores right now. -
A bigger box makes it look like you're getting more. Maybe the smaller boxes didn't sell as well?

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
StoutFiles replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It seems like he has a vague memory of the original trilogy. He later calls Jabba "Jaboo" and reads off set names as if he's never heard of them. He wastes too much time on Naboo when that set is already available. I do wish these reviewers were AFOL's, because they'd know what we want: close up shots of unreleased sets, especially of figures. -

Exactly. I think it's the eyes, they shouldn't be as open as they are here. The half circle shape isn't accurate either. Of course, it's still much better than the previous mold, and the head turning is a huge plus. -
The main reason is that it would be a huge risk. It would cost a lot to make and would probably not sell well as PT UCS is a hard sell currently. That may change as time passes. I really like the interior of this model, you did a good job of incorporating all the important rooms from the movie.

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
StoutFiles replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
It clearly does when people think that a Padawan is a Jedi, and not a Jedi-in-training. You are either a Jedi or you aren't. Yoda specifically says he is not a Jedi, and anything that would counteract that would be a retcon. He becomes a Jedi after fully resisting the dark side in the throne room. If learning the Force under a teacher makes you a Jedi, then he would be one in Episodes IV and V, and that is both false and laughable. I hope so. Last year's summer wave had hardly anything changed after Toy Fair. -

StoutFiles replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The OT was a simpler time where you either were a Jedi or you weren't. Don't try to connect the OT back to PT retcons. Luke wasn't a Jedi, he was learning to become one. Being instructed by a Jedi does not make you a Jedi. It's like going to medical school, you may be referred to as a doctor while training, but until you finish, you are not actually a doctor. As for Episode I Obi-Wan, Lucas doesn't even know what he is. He is constantly referred to as a Padawan, but the title crawl calls him a Jedi Knight. -

Luke: Then I am a Jedi... Yoda: No. Not yet. One thing remains. Vader. You must confront Vader! Then, only then, a Jedi will you be. If Yoda says you aren't a Jedi, then you probably aren't a Jedi. -

Well he isn't actually a Jedi at that point, but he could double as one. -
It's meant for display and nothing more. The cost of it would be 300+ dollars given the figures it comes with and the amount of pieces needed for the board. It would also be near impossible to play a chess game with the size of the pieces.
