I'm thinking that even TLG isn't 100% sure on where the UCS line will take them. Thanks for sharing the response.

Exactly how I feel. Some people pay a lot of money for UCS sets under the assumption that they are going to stay unique. Buy now or pay a boatload later. They have stayed that way for 10+ years and there's enough material out there that they could stay that way for at least 10 more. Yes, you will make a lot of people very happy releasing old sets, but the majority of collectors will feel alienated that the line stagnates to remake old sets instead of pressing forward to new sets. I want to see a Cloud Car, an A-wing, a Nebulon-B, etc. I don't want them remaking the Falcon, X-wing, Y-wing, etc for years to come. As for old UCS sets looking old, you're always allowed to MOC part of it to fix it. Every UCS set has been improved upon, even the most recent ones. Note this is just my opinion, and everyone is entitled to their own, but as of now we have no idea what TLG do with the UCS line down the road. They could continue on like they have been, or they could start remaking sets. A lot of that depends on how well the line continues to do and how long they can keep the SW license.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here

It'd be great if Luke's jacket wasn't unique to the book you have to buy for him. I guess you could put them on Celebration Luke and any normal Han for a better medal look. -
I hate to say it but you have branched off topic for no reason, defining the word for other topics. Collector does mean rare/limited, and something to be collected, when talking about the UCS line. This is not TrafficConeCollectors.com. We are talking about the UCS line, a line that has never reissued/redesigned a set it has made before. There is a pride in owning a set that you know will never be made again at this size and detail, and a reason people collect the line. While the "Limited Edition" Falcon's are clearly more valuable than the regular UCS Falcon, they are both still collectors items. While the other versions may not have a 1 of XXXX label on them, they are made in smaller supply than all System sets, including the ones that say Limited Edition on them just because they're sold at certain stores. I believe you have fallen for the common misconception that limited edition has to be labeled or numbered as such. You underestimate the selfishness/pride of collectors. The vast majority do NOT want everyone else to have one. They buy them because they are detailed and expensive enough that few would buy them, and then will one day increase in value. Most people don't want something on display that everyone else has. If everyone has one, then what's the point? There would also be a lot of people that spent a bunch of money on the aftermarket to buy older UCS sets just because they want the ship and would be enraged if TLG announced a month later they were remaking those sets. TLG has never said the UCS line would be one-and-done but many people assume that's what it means when they buy the sets. A redesign would affect the value of the previous set. You can see it happen with Lego System sets, once the new version of a ship comes out the old ship heavily decreases in value. Perhaps in the future the older version will increase in value again, but there will be an immediate noticeable devaluing of any UCS ship that is replaced. Some people just want a large MF and if reissued, they wouldn't have to spend $1000+ on the used market. Yes, it would not affect the Limited Edition MF's collectors, but their market is completely different than the people who just want a UCS ship to display and will pay more than retail for it. I don't own the X-wing, or the Falcon, and would love to have them both. However, I would prefer that when I buy any future UCS set that it will stay unique forever and be the largest version TLG has attempted.

I think reissues would alienate collectors and even though I'd like to have one, I don't think they should. The collectors who supported TLG long ago are rewarded, and new collectors are welcome to pay for one on the secondary market or bricklink the parts. It's Ultimate Collector Series for a reason, reissues negate the collector part.

What MOC would be like a long poem or story describing heroic deeds? I would say none of them. If you want to build a very large MOC instead, anything you mentioned would suffice. As for Yavin IV, ACPin already built a very nice one at large scale, I'd suggest building something that hasn't been done before.

Meh, the EU has multiple chambers in different areas. It's probable that some Star Destroyers had them as well. If they redo it though, I hope they make a better effort than last time, the chamber breaks if you touch it (just like the whole ship).

May the Fourth and now Revenge of the Fifth?
StoutFiles replied to mutley777's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thats all lower canon though that Lucas won't acknowledge...except for the money rolling in for allowing it to exist. -
Sorry to hear that, that's two important members in a matter of weeks. I'm surprised you have a choice in the matter, I always though working at TLG and posting about Lego on a forum would be a conflict of interest. I know of no TLG employees being members of forums that mainly discuss the next product lineup and rumors of future lineups. If it wasn't at least heavily suggested by TLG rules that you not talk about Lego, then that would be very interesting.

I must say that while Im not crazy about it, the price per part is excellent. When this goes on sale it will be very difficult to not get one.

There's probably a reason we don't get Jedi in battle packs, and it's likely because Jedi are used to help sell larger sets. So I'm not sure if TLG would want this to exist. The other issue is the box noting that this set is all about the figurines, I don't think Hasbro would be happy about that. A battle pack is supposed to sell minifigures in disguise.

Weird, you can't link directly to those images...I guess I'll host it then. Full frame from RotJ: http://stoutfiles.com/lego/ewok_orange2.png -

Well hopefully, I think a chrome Ewok would be rather stupid. I'm just saying they some do have orange eyes, it just isn't captured that well on film. -

LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
StoutFiles replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Every time someone says they only have brown/black eyes I'm going to repost this picture. EDIT: Okay, I'm not actually going to do that, but I'm really trying to get this point across. -

If for some reason they chromed this character (which is highly unlikely since they haven't bothered to make him yet), he would adequately double as a replacement for U-3PO in Tantive IV MOC's and E-3PO in Cloud City MOC's. What I'm saying is, we really need a silver protocol droid. -

Apologies for the picture from this awful film, but some Ewoks have orange eyes. Warwick Davis said multiple Ewoks on the set of RotJ had orange eyes. Orange eyes do not debunk an Ewok as a chrome figure, it's actually the perfect hint as its not immediately obvious. -

Quote by Warwick Davis, who played Wicket: "I was 11 and 2ft 11in at the time - perfect, as it turned out, for an Ewok. I was in. Shooting for Return Of The Jedi, the third film in the original trilogy, began in 1982. Nearly all the Ewok village scenes were shot at Elstree, but not without problems. The costumes for the Ewoks, furry, forestdwelling creatures, were incredibly unstable. As heat built inside the bodysuits, the orange eyes steamed up, so none of us could see. " -
Show Your Army, Navy, and Collection Display
StoutFiles replied to BillytheKid's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Mutley, what do you do with your figures when they aren't lined up for pictures? You're displaying them, but it's not an actual display, unless you have them all around the house on large gray plates. Any chance you'll build some sort of display for all your figures? -

Some people feel that Artoo should not have jetpacks in the PT because he didn't have them in the OT (or chose not to use them, but that's a weak argument). It's pretty clear that Lucas wrote Artoo into a difficult situation in Episode II and gave him jetpacks to solve the problem. The point being...I'm glad this model does not have them. -

Wasn't cavegod angrily stating that R2 was going to cost 149.99 euros? This is a huge difference in the wrong direction. -

Took the words right out of mouth. I was really looking for an excuse to buy this, but now we'll just see. Maybe if there's a huge price drop. I can't believe they spent any part of the video talking about the R2 figure that everyone already owns multiples of. It was mentioned twice, that's just silly. -

Nope. In the OT Yoda doesn't rearrange words every time he talks. They really ham it up in the PT. -
If the Lambda Shuttle is going to be in the sun, do not get that. White Legos look awful after sun damage.
