Show Your Army, Navy, and Collection Display
StoutFiles replied to BillytheKid's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I almost think we've jumped the shark on minifig counts, now nothing will be impressive. How about we focus on how people display their sets/figs? We might get some good ideas on how to show off sets/figs without taking over rooms. -
Vaders box changes multiple times in the OT. Accuracy is negligible here. Officers should have their correct rank though.

The wings would deploy with a simple flick of a switch? Sounds like a trap to me!

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here

Why would Lucas care about yet another 1138 reference? It's already in every SW movie, some multiple times. As for the blueprints book, I'd be sold if it was OT only and therefore cheaper. Are they going to have two different blueprints for R2 since they gave him unique abilities he never had in the OT? Stuff like that would just anger me, keep it to one era. -
Thanks for all the compliments. I definitely agree they're much too small now...it wouldn't be hard to replace them with bigger sails. However, I do try to keep my sets 100% Lego so I'm not sure if I'd be happy with replacing them with a non-Lego material. I'll think about it. I will when I'm finished with other displays. Hoping they release a Jabba set sometime so I can get updated minifigs. Yeah, I'm not thrilled about that either, both the transition and the angle of the hull. It works for now, I'm just out of brown pieces and can't do any better currently.

Pretty sure Aryo is the same guy who built his own Executor and put around 50 mini ships around it. And then displayed it in a Stormtrooper outfit. This guy is the definition of a hardcore AFOL. -
I picked up two 6210 Sail Barge sets for cheap, considering they each were about 90% with no minifigs. I thought they'd be perfect to use at part packs to make a better Khetanna and have two skiffs for the price of one set since 6210 is really expensive. Here's what I've got so far. ^As you can see, lots of room to MOD the inside. Sorry about the blurry pics, when I'm finished with all my shelves I'll take proper pictures with a good camera.

LEGO Exclusive 10221 - Super Star Destroyer
StoutFiles replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Say you could get the parts through a few sellers to avoid all the compounding shipping charges. Are you going to bricklink the minifigs and stickers? I'd hope not since they will be very overpriced. Either way, I'd rather pay more for something that will hold its value well. In five years you'll be able to sell it for more than you bought it for. -
There's no guarantee the next set will be Jabbas Palace or that number. It's more likely they'll release a smaller UCS ship like an A-wing to compliment the larger Executor. Besides, have they ever released a playset in this timeframe?
-
Why don't you shell out the extra bucks on Bricklink for chrome pieces and build it that way? If TLG ever gets around to making another N-1, which is unlikely, the price of a chromed ship would be much more expensive than what you could build it for now.

Is it bad that I don't remember this ship in Episode I? I don't know why this set exists, again. -

As I've said before, TLG really should hire someone that is crazy about SW accuracy to point out problems like this. -

It's been mentioned, and they'll fix it of course. If not, then there will be first edition sticker misprint sets that'll be worth more. -
The rumor is a B-wing.

This would just make the "first edition sticker typo set" worth more money. -

Is it scalping when someone sells an item that isn't in production anymore? That's the only way they can make money. Considering I wouldn't have certain sets without scalpers, then yes, I'm happy they're around. I've never sold a set, but It's comforting to know I could and get most, if not all, my money back. -

I'm not sure why the price is such a big deal. There is no chance they'll remake this set; it'll sell on the aftermarket for at least double its value. As long as you preserve the box and instructions you'll get your money back. -

We all knew it'd be this expensive, why the surprise? I also don't see anything here that changes someone's mind from a must buy to not going to buy. Nothing here is unexpected. I hope they have a limited run of this set. -
Piett's face isnt Snape's face anymore according to the official reveal at Brickworld.
-
Flat bottom is because some kids will want to play with it. Sorry AFOL's, kids always get first dibs. Oh well. They need Boba Fett exclusive to the Slave I to help sell that set. 4-LOM and Zuckess would require new head molds. From a business standpoint it makes sense why they chose these three.

Knowing that the Falcon was coming saved me from purchasing an older, used, overpriced Falcon. It also saved me from starting to collect pieces to build my own Executor. I prefer knowing what's coming.
-
I assume there's a rod inside the two head pieces holding them together.
-
I think whoever did the poster screwed up and assumed he was choked. IG-88 looks great. Glad they put some detail into his head.
-
Ignoring accuracy for playability doesn't make the ship better. The rest of it is nice though.

I'd say it's pretty good for a character who has no dialogue and is never the focal point of any scene.
