LEGO Star Wars 2012 Pictures and Rumors
StoutFiles replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Any chance this amazing set could be something that breaks away from the normal set line. For instance, a LEGO lightsaber to scale using unique chrome pieces for the outside and translucent pieces for the crystal. While Jabbas Palace or CC would be nice, they've been done, and will be done again should the license continue past 2016. -

Who wouldn't want a huge bust of Lobot to look at everyday? If I don't get this I will regret it forever! -

The Outrider? That's truly a one-time set if he's making a Shadows of the Empire reference. Hopefully it has something to do with a Cloud City set similar to the DS playset. -

We might get Ewoks, but it's likely we don't get any. We might not get Stormtroopers either, TLG is stingy with them. -

Yeah, I could see this happening. I wasn't expecting anymore than one Ewok as it is, I bet it's an expensive figure to make. Hilarious that they're giving trees flick-fire missiles now. Do kids really love them that much? -
I'm a fan of it. I like the red/yellow on the end of the wings. I could even see this as a realilistic fighter if the wings could straighten in atmospheric flight.

The best way would be to get the measurements of the Master Replicas Boba helmet. They took a 3D model of the ESB production helmet. -

Well, conditioning is important. That's why Luke works on his cardio on Dagobah. As now established by the PT, if fighting someone with equal Force skill, then size does matter. The PT disgraced many good OT lines. -

I wish that was my my collection. But no, I was just embedding the picture of gratefulnat for him. A good choice, but you'll soon find that even OT sets only gets really expensive! Haha, no problem, if so I didn't even notice. -
Thanks for the compliments everyone. The shelf it's on will be only 3 ft high from the ground. I probably should have mentioned that; seeing inside the rooms won't be a problem. Lighting will be a future addition once the whole display is done. Yes, I agree there's some clutter, but to fit everything I wanted to represent I had to make some sacrifices. Note that other than the hangar the movie's base wasn't very spacious either! Yes, but it will probably be a year from now. Once I've completed everything I can map out how to work lighting.

Very nice! Love the water, tiles, bambo leaves, and spiraling steps. Nobody better criticize him for lack of people! If you ignore the celebration scenes, Theed was a ghost town.

What a set collection! You're almost out of room! I have embedded the picture of gratefulnat's collection below. -
Here's my final take on Echo Base which will be added to a future OT wall display. Besides a lot of extra pieces, this set uses elements from Lego sets 7666, 7749, 7879, 8089, and 8129. Fitting an Echo Base that captures many of Episode V's scenes on a 4 ft by 1 ft shelf wasn't easy, but I feel like I did it justice. I guess I'll let you all decide though. Overview: The med bay was completely retooled from my WIP. I made it two rooms instead of one, and tiled the floor due to request. The bacta room includes the tank and two medical droids. The control panel 2-1B is standing by rotates 360 degrees. I was shooting for the scene below. Came somewhat close. The hoses do attach to the bacta tank, they're just hard to see with the ceiling hiding them. The room to the left is reminiscent of the room Luke relaxes in and get kissed in. I left enough room next to the bed to reenact this scene. You'd think this guy would be happier with a tasty popsicle. Some other angles. The other droid with 2-1B is FX-7. FX-7 was the R2-D2 to 2-1B's C-3P0. He should have been in this set. I was very disappointed TLG didn't include him, so I built my own. Nothing to rave about, but it fulfills the need. The control room was redone as well from the WIP. I tried to match the general panel layout from the shot below as well as incorporate the panel design used in 7879. The floor is somewhat tiled with a mixture of snow, vents, and clean floor near the doors. Again, upon request. The WIP had a lot of floorspace taken up by passages. I left one smaller one, it leads to the control room rear entrance. The Wampa signs warn people to be careful going through the base. The hangar floor has been cleaned up dramatically from the WIP. Only white and dark gray are used, all the light gray and black has been removed, as well as the vents holding it together. The hangar shot is two speeders about to leave the base to defend it. The speeders are sitting on swivel stands. Here they are removed. I kept the bridge from 7879 and enlarged it to comfortably fit an X-wing had there been enough room for one. Tall enough now? I think so. Rounding up the base with some random shots. Tools: Equipment: Pump: (7879) Stable: (7879) Outside: So, there's my base! If I add anymore to it will be a few more hoses (I'm fresh out), but there won't be much more done to it. Need to move on to other shelves. Hopefully you all like it and that you get some good ideas for your own Echo Base.

Upon closer examination, you are right. I thought the black plates were level with the outside tiles, making the wings 1.5 plates bigger. My bad. I'm buying it either way, but glad it's not as thick as I thought. -
Agreed. Threepio is one of the best characters assuming you ignore PT Threepio. Anytime he talks to Han is a classic scene.

Because I don't want wings that have the thickness of a brick. It looks good from the side but coming right at you it's less accurate than a ten year old model. See how thin those wings are supposed to be? You're better off modding the original for the side look. -
You're able to make an average scene look great with those nice camera angles. Good job. I assume this doubles as a Forbidden Forest?

For everyone guessing a low proce of 25-35 bucks, how are you getting that number? Is is just wishful thinking? Look at the Naboo N-1...heck, look at the TIE Defender. The new TIE set will have a high amount of pieces and two new minifgs. There's no way this set isn't in the 50-60 range. -
It's the same piece, just a different color.

So...does no one care that they made the new TIE wings much too thick? I mean, I like the look from the side, but the 2001 design is still more accurate than this design. -
It's TLG's attempt at humor. It's a set designed for little kids anyway, so why not?

StoutFiles replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Am I the only one that hates the thickness of the new TIE wings? 3 plates thick! 4 to 5 if you count the tubing! The original was just 1 plate thick, 2 plates if you count some of the outside plates. TIE wings should NOT be this thick. This will also look very odd if placed next to another TLG designed TIE Advanced, TIE Bomber, or TIE Interceptor as well since they all use a similar design and have similar widths. -
I believe he is Sand Blue. I'd rather they: A: Stick to a design (they've re-designed the 74-Z so many times) B: Make larger improvements (ex: put in some foot pedals) I just won't put the speeders next to each other. Stickers on tiles are fine. Stickers on sloped pieces, especially 60 degree sloped pieces that are slightly grainy are disastrous. The sloped control panel stickers WILL fall off if rubbed too much. Take extra care if you decide to throw those in with other pieces. I'm just not a fan of the bed and tank being right there. More space could have given 2-1B a console to work at. That's why I bought it. It has great pieces/figures to add to a MOC. I don't plan on leaving this together; however, I will admit that pulling off a full base with a $90 set is near impossible. Sorry, I don't normally like talking about FF missiles. Both guns rotate 360 and are built with the news reporter camera piece and a technic piece that holds two missiles. The dish gun underneath them rotates 360 as well. Same with the double-dish shield generator.
