[ESL - FB] New Haven School & The Blues Inn
blackdeathgr replied to Maxim I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
OMG! These refugees are certainly living some very colorful lives these days -
Nice build and story! Regarding this rock-work technique, what particularly strikes me as odd, is the 4xY plate that leaves a (smallish) gap underneath it. Other than that, it is interesting and I will certainly try it myself!

Woohooo! Nice one! And very Eslandolan I might add I am thinking how much time did it take for those round tiles to be put in place correctly...- 7 replies

Help with 8x4 Pirates Layout for my Son
blackdeathgr replied to swisspiratefan's topic in LEGO Pirates
You DO know that with those precious "little" DUPLOs, you can give height to any construction of yours, right? -
Very nice and elaborate story! Also I like the ruined castle and the debris look wonderful. You could build some more ground on the baseplate but with those fabulous close up photos of yours, that is of minor concern! Plunderer minifigs rule!!!

Yeap, I love that style myself too! It is very distinct of a random colony of that era and really detailed! Keep up the great work as usual!- 11 replies

[COR - Jul FB] Infantry Barracks, Port Woodhouse
blackdeathgr replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Yummy as always! I love how you use all those detailed textures even in your small-ish builds! And I second Elostirion in that we need a bit more military builds! Fight some more people!!! Only thing I would alter in your build is that flag pole but I am also struggling to find a way of making one that doesn't look weird in minifig scale- 13 replies

Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
blackdeathgr replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Yeap, thanks! Now I can see clearly the use of those hinges. I am not an expert by any means but I would like those gray hinged to be placed closer to each other so as to form a smaller beak. I think it would look more natural. Well, I must seriously find time to build a medium sized vessel myself... -
Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
blackdeathgr replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@Bregir Hello! Can you take a top down photo of the hull as well? Right now the grey bricks protruding from the bow seem to start further from the "beak" and seem awkward. I think that is not the case because I know your ship-building capabilities, still it would give us a better view in order to generate some ideas for you . Also I am curious as to why you have used those hinges that can be moved outwards instead of "inner-wards. Uncle Breg knows something??? -
[ESL - FB] Trador Apple Cider Brewery
blackdeathgr replied to Maxim I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice one! As Ayrlego commented, all those chains and pulleys give an early industrial flavor to the whole MOC and I am glad you are still pursuing your apple dreams- 4 replies

The Empire of Oleon: Sign-up and Discussion
blackdeathgr replied to Sebeus I's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@Khorne This is great! And as I also wrote on flickr, anything adds value to BoBS universe, as long as its creator enjoys making it! REALLY eager to see more of these awesome drawings! You do know that Oleon is a very artistic faction, right? -
[SR - FB3 July 17] a mouse study
blackdeathgr replied to Professor Thaum's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great one! The tower looks just right (considering it was built by a professor and not by a military engineer) and I had some good laughs reading the story! P.S: Upon reading the title by the way, I was expecting to see a dissected mouse in a lab -
Help with 8x4 Pirates Layout for my Son
blackdeathgr replied to swisspiratefan's topic in LEGO Pirates
Well, I would put the Rock Island Refuge on the center of the beach (attached to it) and the two islands a bit ahead of the beach so as to "oversee" it. Then the pirates would have to cross those small islands one at a time to enter pirates "castle" Oh, well, that's what I will do when I will be able to build something like that. I need spaaaaaaaaaaaaace!!! P.S: You and your son can gradually build on the beach to make it more lush and not that flat -
