[PA Cup - Cat B Class 1] A'chua's Catamaran
blackdeathgr replied to Ross Fisher's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Although I don't particularly like the shape of a "two-rowboats-come together" vessels, yours is cleverly build with the connection point (stern to stern) nicely hidden so it's not obtrusive. I also love the use of the angry birds sail and the minifig (as always) ! -

Nice vessel Capt B! -
[Mystery Island 2] A Message Is Sent
blackdeathgr replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
And what about the time it takes to deliver? The faster the more €€ a seagull is paid?? Is there a special fee when the customer is on board on a sea going vessel? Eslandolans charge at customs more than let's say Corries so that they promote their own merchandise? Poor "seagull transport Inc" telephone center... All those questions on a daily basis... -
Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
blackdeathgr replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Mesabi, thank you for your builds all these years and should you find time again in the future, BOBS will be here to welcome you again! Good luck! IC: I guess now horse sausage consumption will radically drop... Fortunately!!! -
[PA CUP - Cat. B - Class 1] Sangiovese
blackdeathgr replied to TomSkippy's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice little vessel! Especially the hull, masts and rigging. Also nicely built base. If you can elaborate on the hull a bit more with photos (at the sides in particular) , it would be helpful to us all! -

Thanks! -
Yay! The wooden walls "prophecy"! Rails! That's the word I was looking for! Thanks! (where is Bregir when you need him...) I must refresh my knowledge about nautical terms in English a bit more I guess.

Nice frame and collection but... Nooo, metal beard is unique! I would have also added a ninjago pirate, to show the variations
-
Definitely a more "mature" take on your older ship. The masts make it look infinitely better although I would retained the "rope" from the front mast to the bow (and maybe add some more ropes to connect masts just for the aesthetic aspect. Swivel guns are a must imo in nearly any mid-sized ship, so it's great that you added them (and yours look cool too). I totally agree. It's more seaworthy now as it won't tumble and make everybody seasick or drowned . Also it's good that you retained the old hull because it looked/looks great. If I had to change something, it would be the height of the "side wall" of the ship (I don't know the English word but in Greek it is called "koupasti") somewhere in the middle of it. Two bricks height would be more preferable/more realistic and that "side wall" would connect more fluently to the eye-catching stern side. Overall a great improvement I would say and may it have safe voyages!

Thanks Drunknok! Don't worry, the "horse sausage riders" will get their revenge on all those dead horses some day! Muhahaha! Cursed WTC horse eaters! Thanks Capt Wolf! I had that idea (pumpkins + cavalry) for quite some time now (well over a year tbh ) but finally found the time to realize it... Thanks Captain Braunsfeld! My water approach is tempting but nowhere near enough to your water techniques! -

blackdeathgr replied to blackdeathgr's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks Ross! Upon a closer look, I totally see what you mean. I have indeed many straight lines on the water section . I will try something similar in the future and try to improve beach building (something crucial for BoBS imo). -
The famed Oleon cavalry needs to stay alert. Here we see them training with some poor pumpkins on the beach, always under the vigilant "eye" of their formation banner. Since so many shipwrecks have occurred lately, some debris are washed out. Oh, and don't forget to sympathize with our poor attache carrying the pumpkins! Fairly simple as I was experimenting with the grading colors of the sea, I still hope you like it. If someone from Oleon wants to license it as an army detachment (I guess in Eltina or wherever), feel free to do so.

[SR - MRCA Build] Port of New Nassau
blackdeathgr replied to Fraunces's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Talking about a REALLY busy port!!! I like all the details (quirkier and less quirkier alike) and the irregular base as well. Oh, and good job capturing the feeling of the 90's pirate sets! -

blackdeathgr replied to Ross Fisher's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very nice build with clever "mini"-builds. I must protest though! "Eltina Courier" for life!!! We are publishing it on a research journalism basis and not on a monthly basis so as to grab poor people's money... -
[OL - FB] - "Typhoon" military exercise
blackdeathgr replied to blackdeathgr's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks Bodi! Regarding the pond, a friend bought a batcave for the minis a while ago and sold me all the dark tan wedges etc, which ofc I knew what to do with them. Irregular ponds!!! Hehehe! -

Happy Mech-April to all fellow bobsers! -
[OL - FB] - "Typhoon" military exercise
blackdeathgr replied to blackdeathgr's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks for the compliment but I must protest! Half timbered buildings were also common within Europe during the era we are building for! Plus, I must admit I stole borrowed your cattail design (at least as far as the round plate/tile on top is concerned) Thanks guys! -
The best solution budget-wise, is to go to a shop that make glass display cases, give them the desired dimensions and ask them for an offer. I have done that exercise in the past (while also looking for a fiberglass solution - waaaay more expensive than the set itself).

[COR - FB] Wooden Shack
blackdeathgr replied to Spud The Viking's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice shack! I somehow enjoy the lime green subtle touch. As @Roadmonkeytj said, I am curious as to why a guard is posted outside a "residence"... Ah, those Corries never seize to amaze me... -
Somewhere in Oleon territory, our troops are being trained using the "Typhoon" drill. Here we find them camped by a cottage with a pond. New orders have arrived. Finally found some spare time to build something and oh boy it feels great As always, C&C welcome. Thanks for watching!

Another interesting MOC Professor! As other said however, I would have liked it way more if it was a bit more populated -

Great idea and superb crane construction @Wellesley !! Great movie by the way (however flop it turned out to be). -
[ESL - FB] Little Fishing Boat
blackdeathgr replied to Wellesley's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Welcome aboard Wellesley! As a lover of small and medium brick-built vessels, I must say that this is a nice start. With a multitude of these ships, Eslandolans will divide (most probably themselves) and conquer! -
Thanks Fal! I knew nothing about it (before reading about it of course) so I am sure you know more details on the subject than me . The painting itself is made a bit later than the actual fact, but it surely portrays a strange moment of human history!
