  1. Now there's a unique color scheme! And it looks pretty good, although I'd prefer to see the grey run all the way astern. The custom guns are cool, and the figurehead is menacingly appropriate. Keep it up.
  2. This was a really cool minichallenge (sounds strange, actually, given the individual and total build sizes... ). There were a lot of good entries and since I missed commenting on them during my time of technical difficulties, I'll just say good job to everyone on a fine collaborative effort. The variety of material was really good, a tavern appeared (that's mandatory on a road!), and the different activities were all neat to witness. I was hoping someone would build a big bridge, but there will be other opportunities. Perhaps someone else will run a similar challenge elsewhere in the future...
  3. Neat little house. The exterior looks inviting and while the interior might be tight it looks cozy with that big fireplace/oven. Looking forward to where the story takes them.
  4. Nice update. The slopes on the lower stern are neat and I really like those long guns - they're fantastic. And it's always interesting to see the various ways the CMF Winged Warrior parts are used as decor (the figurehead). Keep it up.
  5. Ahh... The long-awaited moment of matrimony has arrived! And you've certainly done it justice with this beautifully detailed setting. The balcony overlooking the plaza is a great idea and the crowd of people is a very well-dressed group. I really like scenes like this and yours is very good. And I applaud you on showing the ladies in dresses, because trousers just look completely weird to me in these historic settings. If we lived closer I'd happily loan you some of mine (I nearly cleaned out BL 2 years ago...) I checked your linked topic, and I must say, the number of builds is really impressive! I had no idea, and it comes to about 3 every 4-5 weeks or so? Keep it up.
  6. Fantastic entry, inside and out, top to bottom! The structures are beautifully shaped and textured, the cave adds a lot of well-detailed depth, and the activity fits the story perfectly. This is a fitting conclusion to the series, and my favorite build from the challenge category. And I really like the bell tower topping everything off. Excellent work.
  7. I like the old weathered look of the two buildings and the colors are nice. The two minifigs both look the part, but I must say these leaping assassins are major risk-takers: one wrong move, and they'd be falling to their own deaths! Keep the land builds coming (and the ships too).
  8. Such a beautiful setting... and yet so tragic... The landscape is fantastic. The tree is really nice (save perhaps that round brick...) and the smoothness of the grass is simply inviting. The posing is excellent, from the inattentive guard to the ruffled skirts of the reclining lady to the plunging assassin, to the bird taking flight above the tree. And the flesh head for the deceased is a neat idea. Good entry.
  9. This may be my favorite of your LDD works. The palisade in particular looks natural with those tan cones on top as sharpened ends. One one hand, I like the consistent height, and on the other hand I'd like to see a little variation, which could be easily accomplished by adding a 1x1 round plate underneath some of the cones. Overall it definitely gives the impression of a simple fortress befitting a young settlement. Good work.
  10. Wow... this went from discussion to build in a hurry! I generally prefer interiors but as facades go it looks really good. The colors are nice and the soaring front is cool, especially the inverted arch pieces. And its appearance definitely fits the style of Weelond. Hope the venture does well.
  11. Ooh... nice entry! The bed and posing are great, but the floor mosaic is fantastic. I strongly doubt I have the patience to attempt it... Interesting story too. How typical that he would fall for her little ploy... The close-up view of the knife reminds me again of how nicely detailed those things are - almost like a third-party piece or something. Good work.
  12. Well that's definitely brutal... And unique among the contest entries. Looking past the grim subject matter, the overall build is pretty good. The structure has a nice classic look to it and the roof is good. But it seems such a shallow grave would attract dogs which could be messy... At any rate, I doubt if all Mardierians fit this depiction - I mean, they're a sizeable empire, no? Creative entry overall.
  13. Nice build. The white and dark red go well together and the interior is well detailed. I like the climbing plants and the arch piece makes a neat entry, albeit a bit short for the minifigs. The story is certainly unique, perhaps a bit far-fetched with the execution of "justice" but interesting all the same. But I find the Mardierian guard's attire to be more silly than anything... Good work overall.
  14. Very nice house and interesting story to match. I like all the big open spaces and the furnishings look great, although some of them may be a little bit modern. The flesh colored table in particular is nice and I like the overall bonus pics. The pink and blue wording is a unique way of telling the story, and very effective. Overall nice work. Pshaw!! Where on earth did that wild tale ever come from?!
  15. Nice build. I like those huge windows and the floor color is perfect for this scene. The shields are neat, even if they protrude a bit. Good idea to include the guards, if only as an additional detail. But of course the highlight is the two main characters: the well-dressed admiral looks perfect in that kneeling pose, and the lady looks really good in that classic torso / solid color skirt piece which I usually find unattractive compared to the printed dresses. Good work.
  16. Lovely build. Dividing the color scheme between floors is neat, and using both tan and yellow looks surprisingly good. The roof is pretty good too. The fully-furnished interior looks great overall, save perhaps the tiny bed in the upstairs room. The high amount of action from the minifig posing is excellent and the story is a wonderful addition to Part 1. Good work.
  17. Beautiful build. The white and tan color scheme is lovely. The whole structure looks nice. The courtyard wall makes a nice enclosure, the curved balcony is simple but brilliant, the section atop the roof adds tremendously to the overall appearance, and of course you can never have too many arches. Excellent work, and a good story as well.
  18. Neat statue. I actually like the green base - it looks like moss growing among the cobblestone. And while the blue base showing under the curved edges may not be entirely realistic, it looks pretty sharp to my eyes, and of course it's about the only way to fill in those inside curves if that's what you're going for. Good work.
  19. Superb build Maxim! I'm impressed with the level of unique detail you managed to include on the fronts of all those buildings, and the height of the build is also impressive. All the minifig activity is great (and some of it humorous too). The nametags are neat as well. It appears that the lower level of doors leads into the basement of the buildings? Cool arrangement and an excellent job all around.
  20. Another beautiful build from you! The columns, gold arches, harp, red-and-gold rug, etc are all excellent. It definitely meets the description of its original purpose. And the story... hahaha. How convenient!
  21. Beautiful little build. Those vibrant colors are splendid and the tree is really nice. The gentle roll of the terrain adds quite a bit of depth that would otherwise be lacking. The story is rather... interesting... Good work.
  22. Fantastic build and presentation. The colors are lovely and the overall design is beautiful. The various pics and minifig poses are just about perfect. And of course that close-up of the ring is impressive. Excellent work as usual.
  23. This is another fine entry to your story. The building is very nicely detailed, the colors are good, and the interior is lovely. The minifigs are a very impressive lot, and the activity inside and out is great material. The road-building and the required accessories in particular are excellent, and I'm glad you provided the bonus pics to see it all. Good work.
  24. Beautiful build, and interesting story too. The ground textures, vegetation, minifig posing and facial expressions are all great. The building and kiln look good, especially with all that dark red. All around good work. How did you light this? I know many people prefer even, indirect lighting, but these brightly-lit pics do a better job of portraying the actual story conditions, and I like it more for that reason.
  25. Lovely build. The vegetation is nice and lush and the design of the boardwalk is brilliant. The story sounds rather, shall we say, convenient (I know the outcome... ) and the posing is good. One thing that strikes me as being a bit odd is the use of the irregular water in the foreground combined with the squared edges of the background protruding into the build, behind the boardwalk. But other than that it looks great.
