  1. Upon further review, the species has been reclassified: I'm going to be having nightmares... Love your username. Last summer I bought a T8.390...
  2. Is anything more fearsome than the Horned Proboscis Banana Monster With An Overbite?
  3. Wow, striking colorscheme... I like it, although an entire structure in those colors might be a bit much! Good job getting the different angles to match up reasonably well, too. And good luck in the challenge.
  4. Oh no... being mauled by a bananamana is a terrible way to go...
  5. Poor ol' Callaghan, BoBS' resident bonehead... Perhaps he'll catch a Great White instead... Fun build.
  6. This is the most monkey-rrific scene I've ever seen. What goofus came up with "bananarite" anyway... oh wait... ooh ah!! What do you call those banana clusters? Banandaliers? Chandabanandas? Is the banana-tiled floor a giant booby trap to slip up unwanted visitors? A room-wide BANANA (Break A Neck-Ankle-Nose, Area)? Are the yellow columns monkey-guided, bananarite-fueled missiles? It seems they're all monkeys of their word, except, of course, a certain someone, who is, in fact, a banana... HELP!!
  7. This was perfect for April Fool's. And here I was wondering if the visitor counter was this year's (very subtle) prank, seeing how the number just kept climbing higher and higher while I was logged in, but no, it seems legit after all. Apparently lots of folks were looking for the joke that never came (at least I never saw anything official, so this was a fun fill-in!) But yeah, too bad some blabbermouths had to give this away so fast!
  8. @Mylenium By "lifelike" I meant making digital designs within the realistic limitations of real bricks and renders as close to photography as possible. I agree that a good digital design is one that can be replicated in physical bricks. Whether digital or physical bricks, I get the most viewing enjoyment from designs/builds that encourage me to spend some time studying what I'm looking at.
  9. I still believe Eurobricks is a friendly and welcoming environment. Regarding comments or a lack thereof, I learned simply to lower my expectations. Lots of views is worth something. Everyone posts replies differently, and while I frequently posted comments to MOCs in the past, I've been rather quiet of late. I still enjoy viewing good material, but for some reason just don't feel as compelled to speak on it. I didn't realize that the forum as a whole had gotten more quiet in that regard. I don't fault people for simple comments like "Neat build" if that's truly how they feel, although I do prefer a little depth - something to think about, or to post a follow-up reply to. But we all have our unique preferences: I don't generally like comments about "improving" the build, because there are always reasons why I build a certain way, usually pertaining to the limits of my collection. It seems digital designs don't always get the same respect as physical builds. I suppose doing the very best to make digitals as lifelike as possible might help? I have enjoyed viewing several of the designs in question, even if I didn't comment. I think the combined quantity and quality of material being posted has some effect on comments. The first time I see a highly-textured near-lifelike build of something, I will be impressed, and probably comment. By the time I've seen 10 more lookalikes, it's old news. Sad, but true. Unique material sticks in my memory the best for this reason. Don't give up on the forum. It might not be perfect, and (like many hobbies) it may have some elitist moments, but it's still a pleasant environment overall.
  10. First read this and then watch this.
  11. Yes, it would be similar to an AMCRA, but with me telling the whole story on my own, rather than having options to go by. I meant to mention this initially and just forgot. *facepalm* (Wait... can minifigs even do that, or would they *faceclip* ? )
  12. Monkey monkey monkey It's so funky In a Braunsfeld world. Is the crab a bodyguard?
  13. I realize most stories on EB are posted with a new topic for each installment, but my gripe with this approach is the fact that so many links are required to connect everything together, especially with long stories, that it's easy to lose track of everything. For organizational purposes I like the idea of putting everything in one topic. Offhand I'm guessing I will have 15-20 installments. I don't expect everyone to read everything, but for anyone who does, it would be a matter of scrolling and flipping pages. I'm planning a variety of build types already, for various reasons.
  14. A question for the Brick Seas... Would you permit me to post a long story, text only, in a series of posts in a single topic, and add the photos later, as I am able to complete the builds? I don't like this approach, but it will be some time until I complete all the builds, and I would like to get something posted...
  15. It appears the crew of "Phantastic Views And Where To Find Them" is about to get a phantastic view of *splat* Ah, so that's what "Sea-Doo" really means... Are the seagulls legit, or burners? And I'm really curious about their names. Eric Jr? Honest Abe? Jacob Reuben?
  16. You're back. And with an interesting start to the story... which I assume will have lots of chapters? I'm really liking the teasers in the first pic, especially the monkey business. Oh, and "Phantastic Views And Where To Find Them" is a suitable ship name for one of your stories.
  17. And all this time I thought steampunk (or any kind of -punk) was boring. Hmm. Might have to rethink it. Maybe this will entice some of today's record near-15000 site visitors to join EB and BoBS.
  18. In anticipation of the final season of Game of Thrones, I've been repeatedly listening to "Light of the Seven" from the soundtrack. At full volume. Duh. (But I'm more hyped for the new season of "Game of Zones" coming April 11... )
  19. See below. Yes. Exactly. I like the symbol just fine. But... This is EXACTLY what I meant.
  20. I really like the new pic. It seems more natural, and I like that full view. And yes, Bedford is quite close considering we're interacting online! I don't frequent Lynchburg, but it seems I make it to Peaks of Otter every 5-6 years, and we do significant business with the Bedford SS Co-op. Get any rain this past week??
  21. As soon as I saw the title I thought... Ameribricks!! I'm American. "Eurobricks" doesn't bother me in the least. Actually I like it that way, for some reason. Probably due to TLG being European. I'm betting this year's April Fool's joke has the site being taken over by Facebook, and the name changing to Facebrick... But the brick and stars logo... Ugh. I hate to complain, but its unrendered state is just jarring against those lovely banners. Especially considering the photo-realistic renders that have been showing up lately. It looks distinctly 1980s or something...
  22. Beautiful kitchen. I like the detailed layout and the clutter looks pretty realistic to me. But then again, I always did like food! The lighting may not all be perfect but it gets the point across well. I never did get around to commenting on your lovely library and hall. I really like both of those, too. Hyper-textured builds can be overrated and I like your classic approach, plus the focus on interiors has been neat. If you don't mind telling, whereabouts in VA do you live? I'm about a half hour south of Roanoke, just east of the Blue Ridge. Booker T, SML, etc.
  23. Aha. I was just curious for... some reason... It seems to me that contests of this nature encourage a degree of Mary Sue-type character traits.
  24. Neat build, apart from being cramped up by the size limits! The spiral staircase is quite nice and the scene up top is well-posed. And that is quite a story. (I did read all of it.) Do you have a word count by chance?
  25. Lovely vessel and lovely color scheme. All those different blues are beautiful on the white hull (hey, blue is my favorite color). The standard rigging parts work nicely with this design and the stern is very pretty. Oh, and naturally there's a monkey climbing the shrouds with a pistol. Keep it up.
