    My biggest disappointment in all of BoBS is the fact that all you gold-coated, gold-crusted, gold-dusted Greenies haven't erected giant statues of yourselves made from pure gold, with gold pigeons leaving behind gold nugget droppings, with hot fountains of liquid gold spewing into a pond of goldfish swimming at the base. Bummer.

    Generally speaking I agree with you about buying / not buying replica / counterfeit items when originals are available. Generally. In this case we're talking about highly specialized, very rare items, many of which went out of production decades ago. They're fragile (compared to standard bricks) and often don't age well. The supply of originals is constantly decreasing. They're expensive, which is reason enough for some people to pursue other options. (LEGO is an expensive hobby, and not everyone is willing to fork over money for a rare replacement.) It's not like a counterfeit 1x2 brick, that's in constant production by LEGO in a hundred different colors. You keep saying "logically, do this" or "logically, do that" but it's based only on your opinion as a purist. Customizers (who naturally feel otherwise) do not accept this as logical at all. Your English looks really good, and it feels like you're trying to force your opinion on customizers, even if that's not your intention. (And no, I don't use custom stuff, apart from ship rigging elements that can't be done with standard parts.) I implore you to allow each individual to determine for him/her self if he/she is an AFOL. Repeatedly posting such strong opinions about non-purists in a topic by and essentially for non-purists sounds condescending and a little bit like... trolling. Your last paragraph strikes me as... ironic. Customizers already understand the purist point of view and are fine with it, and rarely call out purists for being purists for that reason. This should work both ways. You say you don't have a problem with people using non-LEGO parts... if so, then you probably should just let this thing go. The more you post, the more it sounds like you're trying to convince customizers that they're wrong. If I said what I think about Star Wars in that forum, I'd start a big fight. So I don't go there. If you're anti-custom, I really think you should just ignore the stuff. The basis of your argument is really purist vs non-purist, and this is strictly a matter of opinion, with no right or wrong. You can argue endlessly about it, but it's still just an opinion. In other words, play nice.

    These custom sails look great! My only concern is that, being replicas, less-informed buyers could potentially think they're originals if they bought them from the right source, unless you mark them in some way. (Yes, the burnt edges and lack of official LEGO printing give it away to us, but some people don't know this!) However, this: ...is exactly what you should not print. In attempting to solve one problem, that phrase would illegally use the name "LEGO," and if TLG caught you selling a product with their name used in any way, they would hunt you down and shut you down. If you're serious about selling them, I'd just add the word "Replica" somewhere in small letters. That's... an incredibly strong statement of opinion to make in a post concerning custom parts. I'm pretty sure the LEGO customizing community disagrees with this sentiment. You've plainly demonstrated your disdain for all things custom in your posts in this topic. Uhh... there's an immense difference! Plenty of people have these old classic ships, but if they were childhood items, the sails probably aren't in great shape. If the rest of the ship is fine, and replica sails are priced lower than originals, why not just let people go ahead and do what they want? It sounds somewhat denigrating to suggest that they should go fully third party. Plenty of talented shipbuilders, including almost all the "Experts" here on EB, use custom sails & rigging. Agreed.

    Aha. I suspected there was more to it. And the type of criticisms you mentioned him giving sound perfectly reasonable to me. I doubt TLG would go after him for that! And I don't quite know what to make of the current offerings either. Generic castle, pirates, and western are all great to me. (I hate Star Wars and Harry Potter and anything like them, and most licensed themes, too. But I'm not really their target audience, so... Bricklink fills my void...)

    Nice build and custom guns, even if the prototype is a bit futuristic. The light green quarter-circles out front look a little odd, and perhaps a few more grass stems would fill it out a little better, but otherwise I like the arrangement and minifig selection and poses. I can tell it's plenty big enough, but what are the exact dimensions? Approved by me.

    I don't speak or understand German and don't watch his channel, and I'm really curious: to what extent has he been critical of TLG? If he's been endlessly, continuously bashing the company, then I could see them getting tired of it (and just looking for a way to go after him), especially if he claims to be "promoting" their product. But if it's mostly casual criticisms, then their response wouldn't really make sense from that point of view. I would like to know the exact wording of their communications with him, if that's even a possibility. I just think there's more to this than a logo. I'd like to hear both sides of the story, in full. If he's been very critical in the past then I suspect his side is at least a little bit biased... I would like to know more. As it stands I'm not going to try to draw solid conclusions.

    Nicely detailed scene showing multiple crops on a small base. The creek is nicely done but the bridge is the highlight for me. And good job with the rain effect in the first pic.

    If by "improve" you mean grab readers' attention so they'll read every word every time and write about their reading experience in a reply post, then write short semi-nonsensical comedy every time. I like occasional comedy. But you're obviously trying to write a serious story, which I appreciate. I think you've written this piece out really well, and I don't really have any suggestions. And when I said: ... I was referring to all long stories on EB, and not just BoBS.

    Nice vessel. I like the sail plan as well and that last pic looks inviting. Hopefully you can get the photography issues solved and maybe we can see more. Does the crew sing "It's Me Again, Margaret" whenever they come aboard?

    Yeah, that question was asked and answered elsewhere, too. One of the downsides of having a narrow-minded focus as a builder is the fact that I miss out on some neat stuff that only comes in Hairy Pottery and Star Warts and Lego Bamtan and so on. (I did buy a couple Bamtan CMFs that were actually quite good outside the genre, after initially believing it was all rubbish. Might wish I had with the Hairy Pottery CMFs too. Oh well.) I just wish TLG would release a big parts pack of food & drink, plates & utensils etc. And include that cup & saucer!

    Pretty good for a 9-year-old. He's got a significant amount of detail in there. The shape is quite nice and the swivel guns are pretty cool. Tell him to keep it up.

    What is happening?! Eslandola is mobilizing warships and raising troops, and Oleon is building forts, and... and... Did I pull a Rip van Winklego and take a brick-years nap without realizing it? Nice job on both the fort facade and the troops. Gotta love all those morons... er, morions, sorry.
