    AT-RT

Hey everyone, I was never happy with LEGO's version of the AT-RT, the proportions, the colours and mostly the scale... almost the size of an AT-ST! The several sets I bought were reduced to [very useful] parts and the excellent clonetroopers reassigned within my grand army. So, a while ago I decide to create my own version of the AT-RT which some of you may remember it from the Eurobricks Clone Wars competition. I've subtly updated my version since then and decided to showcase it here... hope you all like it! All Terrain Recon Transport. The patrol moves out! A close-up of the side & pilot. Close-up of the mounted AT-RT pilot. The AT-RT's feet. Hold it! Size comparison with one of my heavy clonetroopers. And the dis-mounted AT-RT pilot. The main challenges I had with re-creating the AT-RT all related to scale; getting the general shape right and creating legs that looked authentic while keeping it small and not going overboard in parts. The legs are slightly weak for play, but it stands and poses well for my purposes being a collector-displayer. I love Arealight's custom parts and used one of their specialised clonetrooper helmets. There's also a clone blaster by Little Arms in the last image. I'm pretty happy with finished model and now have two in my grand army! The full gallery is here [when moderated]: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=350950 You can compare my original AT-RT here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=333283 Feel free to leave any questions or comments.
  2. You don't think they'll pimp it up - bigger, better, greeblier - and add a few £££'s to the pricetag? I do - look at the new AAT. But look at how much cooler the new version is too A proper update of the CAT would be wicked.
  3. Just wanted to add my name to the list of people who do like the Hailfire Droid & Spider Droid [7670]. You get some great troops including a droid commander and two of the awesome, larger droids - both big favourites of mine and which LEGO made a great job of imho.

    The H-Wing

Nice creation dude! I like the unusual design - kind of reminds me of a smaller version of the Trade Federation Landing Ship - albeit a much smaller Republic fighter! Your details and greebling are really nice and it looks like it has lots of function: the hidden weaponary, converting wings. Although maybe tone back slightly on the green and use it in more focused areas instead, like the RGS. You should add a couple of Republic insignia there too, just to set it off!
  5. As Tim Bit mentioned above we've seen SBD's in the Clone Wars series sporting a big, rocket-launching, left arm. So LEGO's decided to give us some of them... good stuff!
  6. I don't think there's any solid info on that yet, but if you look through the last few pages theres plenty of speculation on it.
  7. Could've been that someone mistook a Separatist Shuttle for a Solar Sailor and AAT for a pirate tank? Anyway it sounds like a great potential lineup. Would be nice to get a new Corporate Alliance Tank Droid. It's a great design, really iconic and deserves an update... plus I missed my chance to get the original!
  8. Cheers for the pictures lads, you've made a few peoples day there! Ahsoka's Starfighter and Vulture Droid looks great and appears to have the fun build and playability that the Jedi Starfighter 7256 had. The pricetag may differ however... but I don't think it should be too much. If we dissect the set by model we have one Starfighter akin to Anakin's [which was £19.99], then a Vulture Droid and two part-built Buzz Droid minifigs which couldn't be more than £10, surely? So I reckon we're looking at £29.99 on that one tops, which isn't bad really. Clone Battle Pack is awesome... in that we get four awesome clones! Walker is parts to be honest but that's not the sell on his set. Droids Battle Packs, Hyena Bomber and Vader's TIE all look great though I'm not sure which I'll get. AAT gets better all the time. New Yoda looks ace, much better looking and proportioned than the original in my opinion. Definite must buy! Republic Attack Shuttle pretty cool. Mace is a major selling point here but I'm not sure if it swings it enough. Some of these new ships just aren't the icons that the classic ships are and so I feel a little less excited about 'em.
  9. I meant to click on the Droid Gunship for my vote and clicked on the Republic Attack Gunship accidentaly. Doh! Don't even own it yet! I've got three Clone Wars sets so far and after picking up the Droid Gunship cheap, I was surprised at how great the set is and enjoyable the build. Of course I changed the torso of the pilot to blue - as it should be! It's got to be my favourite followed very closely by the Separatist Spider Droid.
  10. Toys 'R' Us UK has made a couple of pricecuts on Clone Wars sets: The Twilight 7680 - £49.99 - down from £69.99 V-19 Torrent 7674 - £39.99 - down form £49.99 Good stuff!
  11. Was down at my local Toys 'R' Us today but they didn't have this competition on. In fact they were completely unaware of it. Boo.
  12. I find it quite funny that the term 'play-set' seems to have become synonymous with huge expensive sets that only grown adult collectors can buy!
  13. Great review LegoKing! This was my first ever Star Wars LEGO set and an outstanding one at that. Perfect balance of quality minifigs, vehicles and environment and at the time, a low price point. You just couldn't go wrong buying this... so I bought two!
  14. Excellent vignette there Darth Lion! Nice compostion, really detailed and it's great to see someone incorporating lil' Rotta into their MOC! As a suggestion, if you 'rotated' the lower section so that the door is on right and your greebled wall at the back it would mean you could pose your clonetrooper so you get a better view of him from the front rather than looking at his back. You'd have two sides open to view the lower floor and could build a bracket or archway along the edge opposite the door to support the upper floor. Like I said, just a suggestion, it's still quality MOC I'm another who hasn't seen the movie yet but still really want to, reckon I'll catch it on DVD release. I have watched the first four episodes of the series though and really enjoyed them.
  15. Good review LegoKing! My opinion of the set isn't so rosy though... I was so excited about picking up the new RotS LEGO around the release of the film; so many great sets and I still have most of them still built! But not this one unfortunately. Despite coming with the awesome clonetrooper I was pretty disappointed with this version of the AT-RT. It's just way too big in scale compared to the what we see in literature and film (it's almost the size of the Lego AT-AT!) and the shape and proportions just seem slightly wrong to me. Still, it's an excellent Star Wars army builder and parts pack and I bought three of 'em. I managed to build a pretty cool speeder-bike out of them before using some of the parts to build my own version (which some of you might have seen). Some people are so hard to please Awww man. That must have been soul-destroying.
  16. Oh-ho! Just noticed on the certifcate insert the photos have him sporting his pauldron and kama. Very cool!
  17. Cheers Dr. Sinister, great news - I'll be off down to my TRU this weekend then Course when it comes to prizedraws I feel like I have some kind of anti-win aura... but it's worth a shot! Unfair? Consider how we missed out on the golden C-3PO promotion and the inflated prices we generally have to pay for our sets, it's nice to get some love. Best o' luck to everyone who enters!
  18. Just four - check the picture again
  19. Because they make more money out of us collectors buying larger sets? Seriously though, I do mainly agree here; It'd be nice to see some smaller sets, similar to whats given in other themes. Of the current Clone Wars sets I do really like the Seperatist Spider Droid set and the Droid Gunship, both in the lower price bracket (although I haven't picked up ther latter yet as TRU doesn't have it and Woolworths has hiked the price by £10 to £34.99!). Past product lines from the Star Wars theme has seen some really great little cost-effective sets - more of this kind of thing would be great. There is a trade-off here however: When we as fans/collectors consider what makes a good set we always list a handful or more figures that we'd like to go with it and as Lego graduually meets this demand we see the prices rise. The other problem with making traditional Star Wars vehicles, scenes, etc. smaller is that there sometimes has to be a sacrifice in the look, design or sturdiness. It may leave fans feeling unhappy with the treatment - flimsy wings, gaps between hull and cockpit, etc. - and kids finding just a swoosh here or there may have their starfighter crumbling mid-dogfight! It's a hard balance to appeal to everyone and keep them satisfied! As for January's selection, it's nice to see clearer pictures. Clone Battle Pack ROCKS, would've been nice to have other different coloured clones though like the old Battle Pack... I'm not going to cry though, more new phase one's is ace. Vader's TIE is wicked and in bley/black, good stuff! Republic Attack Shuttle looks pretty cool and pretty big too. Many are unsure of the yellow but that looks very easy to mod so not to worry. AAT ROCKS. Great tank nice figures, can't wait to see closeup of new Yoda. Droid Battle Pack is alright. Would've preffered a tighter set with the normal Battle Droids, maybe including a STAP and Droideka in the new colours. All in all a pretty fine selection! /essay off
  20. Mattress you say? Looks like a missile barrage hit it! Hope you enjoy buidling it agian... once the salvage crews have gathered the scattered debris
  21. I picked up my copy today - some great little sets on offer there! Was a little too late for hitting the shops but I think I'll do the seven token exchange and catch whichever extra sets I can if convienient. I'll start tomorrow with the digger and I'll defo have to pick up the Coastguard motorbike at least! I have no idea what the availability will be like on these sets so will try and head down as early as possible... within reason. How many people got today's set? Any photos? EDIT: Sorry for the double post!

  23. I love the original Blacktron line, it conjures a lot of nostalgia for me. It'd be great to see a revamped version in the same colour-scheme. The torso print on the minifigs were simple but great, I can imagine these with extra detail in metallic colours. New minifigs could have cybernetics like the Agents line too. How cool would that be?! Another tongue in cheek alternative I think would be great fun combines two popular themes to form the an unprecedented Space Police adversary: Space-Pirates! Here's Cap'n Cybeard as inspiration! YARR!
  24. Those look great, well done mystery contestants! I liked the temple entrance with the fertitlity goddess perched above in No. 1 and the clever use of saddles for carved faces in No. 2. The Hello Kitty style skull ruin in No. 3 made me smile! They're all good though was pretty tricky tring to decide which to vote for...
  25. That's cool SirNadroj! He looks like a real cheeky wee fellow taking hi vengeance for being denied his candy... TRICK!
