  1. Outstanding review Jim, nice one! I got this set last Christmas, had tons of fun buidling it and the figure selection is fab. I do agree with what you say - much of the ship is very delicate, even with careful handling, the hinged opening plates on the main hull [most of the hinges in fact] do have a tendency to break and the bottom floor sometimes splits when lifting. But if it's just on display this isn't too much of a problem. I can't imagine it lasting long during play though... "Sir, we've lost our bridge deflector shield." " Intensify the forward batteries. I don't want anything to get through..." "Sir... the floor is cracking open... pieces of hull are collapsing everywh-AAAAARRRRRGGGHHH!" ...at least that's how I imagine what'd happen There were a few design touches that didn't sit too well with me so I've modded mine quite a bit: created a detailed cover for the bridge for movie accuracy, increased the size of the defelctor shields, replaced much of the dark bley on the hull with light bley and added parts here and there to strengthen the structure. All in all it looks amazing now!
  2. I think having minifigs in transparent light blue to represent ghosts and holograms would be very cool. It'd be great to see some of the Jedi like that especially Obi-wan as a ghost and Sidious/Palpatine as a hologram. I'll be a bit different here and also say Shaak Ti and Aayla Secura - they're two of the best prequel Jedi ever realised. Agen Kolar and Saesse Tinn would be cool to complete the group who [very, very poorly] attempted to arrest Palpatine. I own LuL Luminara Unduli but would love to see a non-LuL revision of her with her padawan Bariss Offee.
  3. Cheers for the review PMJ. I missed my opportunity to get the original all those years ago so have been anticipating the arrival of this set more than most of the others... and it looks like it doesn't disappoint! There are a couple of odd inclusions with this set: the flick-fire cannons [i [i]knew [/i]they were!], the combination rear door/speeder/pilot controls; but these are all mod-able so it's not a big issue. This is a spot-on revision of the AAT in my opinion, can't wait to get my hands on it!
  4. Cheers Mr. Penguin... based on your descriptions most of those sets sound cool! Got to say I'm especially interested to see the Tank Droid [wicked design for a tank], Separatist Shuttle and Endor set. In the Endor set did you manage to notice any variation on the ewoks compared to the old versions i.e. different colours or printing?
  5. 1 - SlyOwl 2 - Hinckley 3 - Captain GreenHair 4 - Phred Great entries guys, so much fun to look at!
  6. A really nice MOC there. I reckon Caleb has got a sweet-spot for the Republic Attack Shuttle before building it this it this size! In 7 days too... must have been at it night and day Asides from a couple of scale issues [engines could be a wee bit bigger as darkrebellion mentioned] it's a very impressive model - it takes some skill to build a ship like that from scratch. Good job! I think after all the comments concerning the official RAS's colour scheme, someone should mod it swapping out the light bley for white and get it posted here a.s.a.p... I'd be intrigued to see the comparison!
  7. Cheers for another great review millacol88. I've totally agree about the DSS. There's way, way too much reliance on stickers in this set and at the very least essential details such as the droid's eyes [or optics ] should be printed so that those wishing to avoid using stickers can still have a Hyena that 'sees'. This logic should apply to any set I believe. This is a low priority purchase for me although I wouldn't mind getting it on sale for those droids... I think they'd make a good starting point for Droid Commandos However at the rate LEGO is churning out these Clone Wars sets I wouldn't be at all surprised if those are on the cards for an official release!
  8. Great review millacol88, thanks a lot! I missed both opportunities for Vader's TIE Fighter and won't miss it this time. Such a good choice by LEGO to render it in shades of bley and they really nailed down the design of the fighter. The greebling is subtle but nice enough in my opinion. The new Vader rocks... I got him in my DS but have yet to build it! So many fantastic new sets! I'm going to have to see if any are availbale at my local TRU... hope so, but it's going to be a hard choice knowing which to purchase first!
  9. Fantastic review Dunamis, good stuff! I was originally non-plussed about this set but the more I see it the more it grows on me... throw in a couple of nice reviews and it's looking like I might have to pick it up! It will almost certainly come second to the AAT though [or will it?!]. Overall the ship looks great. The features you revealed are ingenious and I'd love to see them working in the flesh. The minifig selection is good if not lacking in quantity... but isn't that always the case? I'd also feel inclined to alter the yellow elements - maybe to white - but would have to see it completed as is first.
  10. Nice review, cheers! You really can't go wrong with this set, 4 phase one clonetroopers [including gunner] and extra equipment... army building ON! I'm not too fussed about the walker, it has some great parts that will come in useful. The clonetroopers is where this pack is at. I can't imagine anyone purchasing this not to do so in multiples
  11. Cheers for the review Mutley777. I thought it looked like a great set from the initial pictures and you've confirmed it! It's nice to get multiple models in one box for collecting and for play, especially when they're as well realised as these. It's also a good way to get Ahsoka at a cheaper price point [though many are unhappy with the price]. Only drawback for me is the buzz-droids which I think could've been better built with multiple levers for legs - instead of crudely slapped-on battle-droid legs. Easy custom job there though... All in all a worthwhile purchase I'd say!
  12. Hey, A wee while back I 'fleshie-fied' my Imperial Shuttle Pilot too! I used this head [in light flesh] for mine: http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=3626bpb121 Looks great!
  13. Ooooh... mystery! I'm in too
  14. I'd considered building some commandos myself. I'd go with the same construction technique as used for EV-9D9: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/KimT/Sta...ifigs/ev9d9.jpg and create a decal for the face and head details. For colour scheme dark bley would be best as they are predominantly that colour. BTW nice pic KimT

Thanks again for the positive comments! When I'm come to photograph my section of the EB Community Castle I'll do a photographic inventory at the same time
  16. Hi everyone, Just signed up for the Community Castle Build and glad to be onboard! I've opted to do the Money Changer/bank. I've built the castle wall and have almost completed the exterior of the building! Glad to see theres so much enthusiasm and great builds for this so far. Good stuff! ISC, I noticed tonight that the bank entry [15] is missing on the castle plan, replaced by tax collector? Can I still build a bank/Money Changer?
  17. Cheers dude, glad to be onboard
  18. Hey everyone, I love what's going down here, it's great to see everyone contributing to such a fantastic project! I was wondering if I could join in too? I noticed last night that Bank still hasn't been chosen yet - I'd be happy to do it! Bank is quite a modern term, the medieval version would have most likely been Money Changer, which were a pre-cursor to modern banking. There's a wiki link here, interesting stuff: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Money_changing Let me know if it's fine for me to join, I've been thinking about a build already
  19. That's an impressive collection of mini MOCs there CKO, you've made some really great models. You must've invested a lot of time and effort into those, well done! I think my favourites have got to be C-20 and AAT
  20. Cheers for the great pics and review ISC, great bonus too! The Death Star is on it's way to me soon, can't wait 'til it's here. The attention to detail is incredible, right down the mouse hole for the mouse droid

Yep, the helmet is a custom from Arealight. Cheers for the great comments everyone!
  22. Cheers for the link! That AAT looks better all the time. From the images it seems to me that is does has a hinged, opening cockpit. I'd imagine theres a similar opening for a STAP at the back - if one is included. Hmmm, how nasty would it be if the STAP came out the front?! The side guns look like they could be flick-fire to me - you can see a small dark bley spindle sticking out the back of the guns which could be the back of the missile. Either way, I don't mind

    The H-Wing

That looks ace Rook! Altering your colour scheme has made all the difference. You even added Republic insignia I do love the way those engines can retract into the hull! Good work!
