  1. I was quite excited about getting my first LUL figure. I got Luminara Unduli with the Wookiee Catamaran set and was really, really disappointed with her. Her head is really loose so that it and her cape swing around, making her hard to pose. To keep the lightsaber 'ignited' you need a finger on top of the head, so she can't be posed with lightsaber on. They so should have made that a switch. And of course like JimButcher says, you can't detach any of the elements like a normal figure - though her headpiece does come off. I didn't initially buy the Clone Turbo Tank so was happy when they released the non-LUL Mace Windu version of the set... which I bought instead. I've given Ultimate Lightsaber Duel a wide berth. So I'm not a big fan of LULs. I'm happy enough with the normal, high quality minifigs we always get. I just really hope that one day they re-release Luminara the way she should've been!
  2. Nice review Simon Jedi. The V-19 has been one of my favourite ships since the release of CWA and this is one of the sets I've been considering most about buying. It's great to see TLG's treatment of it. It looks like no expense was spared making it as aesthetically and functionally accurate as possible - though I think the cockpit windshield could maybe have been slightly bigger, but that's just me I'm sure. It looks pretty big compared to other starfighters too. Did it take a long time to build?
  3. Excellent review Christian - your photos are nice and sharp and you've captured the real points of interest. I like this set more now that I've seen your pictures of it. The tank looks like a fun build and formidable when done. Having two clones in there is a great bonus. Obviously we all hope for more but... ah, well! I'm not sold on the stickers but the set has been designed in such a way leaving them off won't hurt the overall aesthetic. Good stuff! I'm not sure if I'll buy this set from the right off... I'm working on MOC's at the moment but would consider picking it up in a few months time I reckon. We'll see. Cheers!
  4. Many thanks for the votes so far! There are so many good entries, it took me a good while to decide... got there in the end though! In the bignette category I voted for: First Contact. I find Fat Tony's scene so immersive, the Twi'lek Jedi and his clonetroopers almost look overwhelmed amongst those enormous trunks and canopies. It really captures the scale and atmosphere of Endor. So much it looks like it's a part of an even bigger bignette! Good stuff. In the vignette category I voted for: SIMAFOLS's Yoda on Ilum. A great sequence from CWA captured brilliantly. I really like this take on the Spelunker Probe Droids / Chameleon Droids and the action going on above an below the surface. The Yoda minifig could have been a little bit more dynamically posed, but he's quite a rigid little minifig anyway and this doesn't detract too much from the scene. I've got to mention Sir Nadroj, Oky Wan Kenobi and legorevolution's bignettes too though. Sir Nadroj's scene with Palpatine's shuttle for me, set the bar in this competition. It looks fantastic and the inclusion of lifelites sets the scene really well. Oky Wan's bignette is how EPIC battles should be done, awesome! And legorevolution's Droid Subfighter looks amazing. I'm a big CWA fan and I think this model should be produced as an official set with the Clone Scubatrooper and Kit Fisto included... I'd buy it! It was really hard not to chose any of these as my favourite. I put a lot of work into my scenes so can really appreciate how much everyone else put in too. Again, very well done to everyone who entered.
  5. Great review Wilhelm! I bought this set last week and had some photos ready for a review too, but you beat me to it Here's my shot of the complete set: This is a wicked set, a bit overpriced, but still too cheap to miss and a limited edition too! The Homing Spider Droid model is really cool but similar to what many have said, it's a bit like a spider on rollerskates when you try to pose it! It felt like a bit of a learning curve trying to get him in the right position. The massive bonus comes in the form of Commander Fox and the clonetrooper. Fox is an awesome minifig, the designs on his armour are extremely detailed and look fantastic. The clonetrooper accessories are excellent too, with enought to share between several troopers (I used the additional acessories to turn the other clonetrooper into Commande Flux!). I think it's a dead cert they'll release these as a battlepack and I can't wait 'til they do. I took several close-up photos of Commander Fox with the various different combinations of the clone accessories. If anyone wants me to post the pictures let me know. I can post them here or in another thread.
  6. Another amazing creation BaronSat! It's always great to see your work and this take on the Imperial Shuttle is truly inspiring. Good stuff! That must have taken a fair amount of time to plan and create?
  7. Thanks very much for the positive comments! I find set reviews to be one of the many highlights of EB and I'm more than happy to be able to contribute. If you enjoy reading them, I'll do my best to post more! She's a sweetheart. Best birthday ever!
  8. Best of luck to everyone who entered, some really great scenes there - enough to create several new chapters in the Star Wars Clone Wars saga!
  9. Aye that's true. Who knows though, he could be shot but still alive?! To be honest his position was a last minute change while I was taking the shots - origninally he was closer to the battle droids but the tan colours blended a little so I moved him away. I'm going to change his position slightly to represent him sprawling a bit more (for now the entry is as-is due to time). Cheers for the suggestion!
  10. Thanks Ashoka, these sound like they could potentially be great new sets. I bought the Separatist Spider Droid the other day and I love the new clones! I'm not surprised they'd release a new clone battlepack... but it's great to here a possible confirmation. I don't mind the inclusion of a new speederbike as I really like the new design - any spare bikes can be given to my old scout troopers. I'm keen to see what an alternative Yoda head looks like as there has been some great 'toon' versions of him. I own quite a few Yoda's already so a little change is good. A new AAT sounds great, about time Lego gave it some love again! A battlepack with a greater variety of droids is good too. 2008... moneysink! 2009... even more so!
  11. Thanks for the nice comments! The head I used for the Padawan is Ron's sleeping head from the harry Potter set 4762 Rescue from the Merpeople... which is maybe why he looks a bit like he's actually sleeping! As for the ship I built it from scratch but heavily inspired by the CR-20, Republic Cruiser and Tantive IV, hence me calling it a CR-19
  12. Hello all, I've just added my competition entries Last Stand on Argoth and AT-RT Assault, my bignette and vignette respectively. I hope you all like them! There's a lot going on in my bignette, so please take some time and immerse yourself in the action by flicking through the images on Brickshelf (once moderated): http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=333280 There's some excellent entries in this competition, so the very best of luck to all you entrants!
  13. Hey everyone, Here's my competition entries. First my bignette: Last Stand on Argoth The CR-19 clone transport 'Whimsical Fate' is shot down over the Seperatist held planet of Argoth. Onboard, Jedis Master Urisian Voss, his Padawan, Pel Troya and ace fighter-pilot Daro Naul are helpless to stop the spiralling descent. After crashing nose first into the planet's surface, the dazed occupants set off the distress beacon and scramble out of the ruined ship... only to find themselves surrounded by the full might of the Separatist armies. Clone-commander Flux orders his troops into defensive positions, but the sheer number of battle droids is almost overwhelming. Urisian watches in horror as his Padawan is gunned down; he ignities his lightsaber and prepares to destroy as many droids as he can while he still breaths. Daro Naul sneaks behind jutting outcrops of rock and wreckage in an attempt to outflank the droid forces. It is time for them all to make their last stand! The gallery after moderation: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=333280 And my vignette: AT-RT Assault Scouting the Separatist held planet of Argoth, nn AT-RT mounted clone-trooper reconnaissance battalion receives the distress call from the downed transport 'Whimsical Fate'. Several troopers immediately move out in response. As they approach the signal's location they encounter a squad of battle-droids at the bottom of a steep embankment. Fearlessly the troopers charge down upon their enemy; blasting them with laser-fire and cruching them underfoot... The gallery after moderation: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=333283 Good luck everyone!
  14. Thanks for the positive comments everyone I’d noticed that although much discussed, no-one on Eurobricks had written a comprehensive review for it. I thought this set more than deserved one! I’ve just posted my newest review of the Dwarves' Mine Defender here: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=19931
  15. Hello all, As a birthday bonus last week my wife bought me the Dwarves’ Mine Defender… what a star! Anyway, it’s a great little set with a good price point, so I’ve decided to do my second review on it... chaaaaarge! Set name: Dwarves’ Mine Defender Set number: 7040 Price GBP: £6.99 Pieces: 86 The Model Here's a shot of the complete set: The Dwarven war machine - note the elastic band from wheel to blades: "It's comin' right at us, Snotlick! Ruuuuun!" Features The machine is a basic build but looks good. As seen above the front of the Dwarves' machine boasts several circular blades of death. These are attached by an elastic band to a tile with pin mounted on the front right wheel: the idea being that when the wheel turns, the blades spin. Unfortunately this doesn't quite work as well as it should as the wheels sometimes can't get enough friction to turn at all - laminate floors and soft carpets are a definite no-no! Certain surfaces it works just fine and the action is great when it does. As a suggestion, if you really want to get those blades working when moving the machine across your glass table, kitchen worktop, etc. try putting an elastic band around the front wheel for extra friction. That should gets those blades spinnning! Here's the back of the Mine Defender with catapult and chain: Pulling on the chain launches the catapult forward, deploying it's armament onto some unlucky Orc's head. That'll hurt in the morning! The Minifigures Three minifigures in all, one Dwarf and two Orcs: a warrior and a standard bearer. The Dwarf minifigures are pretty special, so it's nice to be able to get one cheap. He comes with a really nice metallic silver winged helmet and a great dark-orange beard neck-piece. Under that beard is one of the Crown Knights printed chain-mail torsos, which doesn't really add or take anything from the minifigure as you can't see it. All in all he's a smashing wee character! I've included a rear view of the minifigs so you can see the back of the Dwarf's ace little neck/hair-piece: Overview For being such a small set, Lego have managed to include some great minifigures and tried to pack in as much playability with some interesting features. The war machine can be a little temperamental but looks pretty cool from a display point of view. I like the concept of fantastic medieval war machines and it's great to see Lego developing these for the fantasy Castle theme. The only real niggle I have with this set is the lack of weapons. You get an iron sword for one of the Orcs and that's it really. The Orcish standard is built using an ornate spear but it'd be a shame to disassemble that as it looks really nice. And what about an axe for the Dwarf? Sure he's got a hulking big machine, but what happens when the Orcs creep up behind him?! It would've been great if they could have included a golden axe for the Dwarf like the ones seen in the Dwarves' mine set. This isn't too big a deal though and fortunately I have enough weapons to arm my Dwarf in a way that befits him! Overall this set is really great value. For £6.99 you get three great minifigures including a fantastic Dwarf and a great little war machine with some nice new parts. At that price how can you say no? Hope you enjoyed my review!
  16. Hey everyone, My wife took me to Legoland for my birthday just last week. We had a fantastic time and it gave me the chance to pick up some of the new Castle sets and battlepacks I was really impressed by the sets I bought and decided to do my first review... let battle commence! Set name: Tower Raid Set number: 7037 Price GBP: £19.99 Pieces: 364 The Models Here's a shot of the complete set: The set is made up of two models, the Crown Knight's tower and the Orc's siege tower. Let's start with the Crown Knight's tower: A knight readies himself for battle! My favourite model from the set, the wicked Orc's siege tower: Please note that for the purposes of display I mounted the Orc's banner onto a small cone set on the top platform of the siege tower. This doesn't come with the set but saves any Orcs having to hold onto it all he time! There are other areas it can be placed without using extra parts. Features Both models look great and have excellent features. The set as a whole has great playability and seems to have been concieved with a storyline: the Crown Knight's have a captured Orc within the walls of their tower so the Orc army has been sent out to recover him... or are they merely after the gold the knights keep horded away?! The Orc's siege tower has a powerful ram - spring-loaded by the simple arrangement of an elastic band - so pulling it back sends it flying out the front, knocking down the wall on the side of the knight's tower... ...and releasing the captive Orc! The floor panels inside the prison are laid over a lip on the inside of the collapsible wall, so fall in when they're not supported. There's a string at the rear for extending the boarding ramp... ...and letting a fearsome Orc warrior charge across! Flick-fire action! The battle heats up as the Orcs close in! The Minifigures The Crown Knights: I really like the Crown Knights. They're metallic helmets look great and they come with nice accessories. The archer has a double printed head with a frightened look on the other side too! I'm not surprised, I'd be frightened when staring over the ramparts at these... The Orcs: These guys really do look the part, worthy advesaries to the Crown Knights! The details are superb: the printed elements, weapons and helmets, all set the Orcs aside on the battlefield. The set comes with a great new molded armour neckpiece too. The mighty Orc leader looks wicked in his full battlegear! Overview There's so much to this set it's hard not to be impressed. The Orc's siege engine is a thing of beauty (or terror!) and would look great on any battlefield. The Crown Knight's tower although basic, looks good and has great playability. I'm a big fan of the new Castle knights and fantasy minifigures and the inclusion of five of them is just enough for this set and as a booster to any army. At £19.99 in the UK this set is well worth the money for content and quality. I'd highly recommmend this set as a must-have purchase for anyone A final shot of the siege tower with a host of Orcs ready for battle: I hope you enjoyed my review, I'll be posting my next one for 7040 Dwarves Mine Defender soon!
  17. I voted for Palpatine's Arrest. Palpatine's arrest was a great scene in RotS ... let down a little by Kit Fisto, Agen Kolar and Saesee Tinn's suddenly dreadful lightsaber skills! This set would give me a chance to re-enact it the way it should've happened But really, I love all the Jedis in Star Wars, it'd be great to see them all in minifig form. I reckon this'll be on the cards next year, whether it's the anniversary set or not. Fingers crossed!
  18. I'm very happy about this price revelation! £199.99 makes it that bit more accessbile. Now, if I get it, where will I put it...? Has anyone who's planning to buy this already decided the perfect place to display it?
  19. The AT-TE has four 'toes' on it's feet which can dig into surfaces. ALthough I don't think anyone's seen it done to this extreme before
  20. Probably just an error - the original set had 4 clones.
  21. I think all the clone accessories including the kamas are made of the same dark bley plastic as their pistols. You can see in the photo below (taken from Manxboi42's Brickshelf page) that Rex's items look to be the same, slightly shiny material. Rubber isn't shiny. I guess that the kama is made from plastic (the slightly softer plastic like the weapons in the Batman and Indy sets) rather than rubber as thin parts of rubber would be more likely to break during play. The trade-off is restricted movement in the legs. I personally don't mind that at all. Could be wrong but that's how it appears to me
  22. Aye, it appears to be. From the pictures, it looks like the missiles woul be mounted on the end of the black bars below on either side of the gunship. The cog on top turns the technic steering wheel below, effectively shortening the length of the bars by retracting them inside the plates with holes and causing the missiles to 'deploy'. The blue rubber band looks lik it's there to keep tension on the mechanism an pull everything back in place. Very cool. I like the design of this gunship a lot but it wasn't high on my priority list. After after seeing these additional pics I think I'm sold!
  23. Good job guys, congratulations!
  24. In order of preference, here's what I... Will buy: 7681 Separatist Spider Droid - Great set. I like assortment of droids the Separatist Forces have at their disposal and this one looks wicked! Excellent minifig selection too, I love the new phase 1 clones and clone commanders - Fox rules. Might very well be worth multiple purchases. 7675 AT-TE - Missed this first time around and it's a worthy successor. Great Clone Wars vehicle, good selection of minifigs. I prefer the minifig set that comes with the RGS but that's not a big issue. V-19 Torrent - A big favourite of mine from the Clone Wars Animated series. The cockpit is a little small for my liking compared to the CWA series but that's a good point for customisation. Maybe buy: 10188 Death Star - Fantastic playset, so many great features. Superb and varied amount of minifigs but very, very hefty price tag. Will see if I can get it cheaper... somehow. 7679 TX-130S Fighter Tank - Cool tank with a couple of clones but shelf space might make this a no-go! 7676 Republic Gunship - Great ship, one of the best selection of minifigs: Assaj Ventress, Commander Cody, Plo Koon; but I already own the old version. Won't buy: 7680 The Twilight - I don't mind the chunky, asymmentrical design of this spaceship but there's more or less the same minifigs in the AT-TE set. Magna Guard Fighter - Only the minifigs are interesting me here. Not that the design of the fighter is bad, there's just other, better sets to fill my already brimming shelf space with. 7678 Droid Gunship - Great design but no minifigs. Shame. Any sets I don't buy which have decent minifigs I may try to buy from Bricklink, eBay, etc. if the price is right. I'm pretty sure they'll release a new range of battle packs to go with the new film though... fingers crossed!

    YT-2000x

I love the 4504 Millenium Falcon and it's great the way you've used similar construction techniques to build your YT-2000. It looks ace, well done! I think any issues with unifying your shades of green could be resolved quickly and cheaply with a trip to Bricklink
