The new midi Falcon looks lovely - they've captured the shape and detail perfectly! The new midi range will - hopefully - also give collectors a great chance to create large armies at a beautifully detailed scale. Imagine recreating Hoth at midi scale with the army of AT-ATs... Obviously I'm just speculating, but it makes sense for LEGO to develop things in this direction. After a good start like this I can't wait to see what the new range has to offer Midi-scale CIS Landing Craft? Yes please!

I have the new version from 10188 and I think it's far better than the original. The details are bigger and clearer and the colour difference makes it more obvious where his body ends and dome begins. A couple of the original R2s I pulled from boxes had very badly faded silver printing on them and looked terrible; I was so disappointed... but there's no chance of that happening again I agree Agents silver would have been that bit better, but bley is good representation of the tone of his dome. LEGO probably won't change it for a while now anyway.

Cheers KimT, can't wait! And another contest, possibly as soon as early May you say? Exciting...
-
Aye, that's true... but it would've been nice to introduce a new version of him anyway while they had the opportunity

Excellent work Lars, the shape and details are about as perfect as you could've got them. Love it It'd be great to see how many other colours this can be built in. I've got white road-signs which can be used for the steering vanes so may attempt a white version based on your technique at some point

Hey, that's looking really good so far, well done! I too will check your folder when public. Looks like it's going to be massive when complete, can't wait to see your continued progress on it Are you going to build full interiors for it too?

Impressive! This set definately has wow factor! The minifig selection is almost perfect (the new version of Leia, the Endor Rebels the new Ewoks are simply brilliant!) with a good balance of Alliance vs. Empire and some new and rare minifigs (great inclusion of new R2 and Death Star Trooper). The bunker and other models look great and that's a far better treatment of the AT-ST too I think the only drawback is the Han minifig - it would have been great to have an Endor version of him - but that's a minor quibble really compared to the rest of the set. There appears to be so much goodness in here it's hard not to consider it a must-have in my opinion! ...and I love Chirpa's staff!

BrickArms First Wave 2009 Now Available!
pedro replied to the enigma that is badger's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
These new collections look fantastic, I'm really impressed with the colour-matching too. I own some Brickarms parts already so know quality is bound to be 1st class. And a great new direction at that! I think I'll have to get that historical pack for my fantasy era armies -
Ah, cool! Might get a few extra visitors to EB too When you get that big Hollywood budget we can build a battalion of these!

Fantastic! Many thanks to everyone who voted for me, I really appreciate it! Thanks for the great comments too... I'm really happy so many people liked my take on the AV-7 Congratulations to all the other winners too, brilliant entries guys. Well done to Artizan for securing himself one of the EB Stormtoopers with his multiple wins! Big thanks to the staff for hosting another great and challenging contest. It's always great fun just to be a part of them, I'm glad to have won such a uniquely cool prize... can't wait to have him on display I think this ones a keeper, at least for a good while. It makes a nice addition to my ever-increasing Clone Army!

Fellow sirs - I haven't abandoned you! In fact I built the 'money changer' just before Xmas, but due to my last PC dying I haven't had a chance to post the photos yet (and having to quickly build an entry for the SW vehcle contest didn't help either!). I'll post 'em up soon as I have the chance.

Congratulations on your 1st! And a great one I must say! I like the way you've got the SNOT working there, lends well to the sleekness of your craft and the flash of dark red looks brilliant. Nice one! Course, as far as the competition goes... isn't this a fighter? Or is it really a speeder?

Reference for this is pretty scarce and I mainly worked from the two images on Wookiepedia. It might have been possible to crank on the movie and check out some stills but I thought there was enough to work with in the images and got on with it. Where parts of the vehicle were completely hidden I just got creative and greebled it a bit Cheers for the positive replies!

Ace Rook, that looks looks the [taxi] business! I like the yellow-cab colour scheme and identity you've given it, works really well. What more can I say...? Good luck!

Great model there Artizan, nice one! The front of the tank is very cool, you've managed to craft that curved shape really well. If you're looking for some comments on how to improve on your T-3B, all I could say would be to bulk out the cannons on your turret - make them thicker and more imposing like your reference picture. It's the tanks main armament and you could image it having to fire massive shells through those! Otherwise it's pretty much spot-on
-
Nice model Oky Wan, it's a really interesting design and you've captured the shape of it really well - good job! It's a vehicle I'm unfamiliar with but it looks great in LEGO. I see an interesting side effect in your lighting giving the bley a greenish tinge, much like the colour scheme in your reference images - looks pretty cool!

AV-7 Antivehicle Cannon The AV-7 Antivehicle Cannon, also called Republic Artillery Gun or Clone Artillery Cannon, was a repulsorlift self-propelled artillery unit used by the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars. The vehicle could be operated by one clone trooper in a seat on the side of the gun, and had a chamber for refilling shells to the side of the lower chassis. Republic Artillery Guns were used during the Battle of Christophsis where they countered the Confederacy's AATs and titanic Tri-droids. The Separatists erected an energy field which prevented the clone troopers from using the cannons, but Anakin Skywalker and Ahsoka Tano disabled it, allowing the cannons to help swing the outcome of the battle. I love the AV-7 and had wanted to build it since seeing the Clone Wars movie. I initially got as far as while as building a leg... and it stayed that way for months! I saw that the competition was on at the weekend and started building in earnest, finally finishing and photo'ing last night. This is one of the hardest models I've ever attempted to build by far and took loads of fine tuning to get it right. Parts count well over 400, legs alone account for over 200 parts! So, here it is... Main Shot Front Right Rear Left Top Here's a couple of extra images... Gunner Detail EDIT: I thought I'd add an extra photo showing minifig to leg scale. Captain Rex kindly agreed to participate! Unfortunately I only had time to build one competition entry so this is it! Please take a look at the Bricklink gallery when moderated here to see many more photos of my AV-7. Good luck to everyone who's taken part!

Excellent contest KimT! Superb prize too... thanks all of you! My old PC died so I've been off the boards for a wee while now. I just recently got my shiny, shiny new PC and have found my favourite site to be having this ace new contest... and with only a few days left.... ACK! I'm going to have to get creative, work at lightspeed and try and get something together to submit. Some really fantastic entries there, well done everyone so far Now... what to do, what to do?

That looks ace Lars! Nice, well designed model, the details in the faring and legs look spot on, just like the real thing! You'll have to show off your other work now

May I make additional suggestions here? In the UK we don't get a great deal of sunlight [at least not where I live] and I don't have any daylight bulbs at the moment, so when I take pictures I make sure there's plenty of light in the room using multiple light sources - main light, lamps etc. The model/minifig/scene is often high up on a desk. My camera is mounted on a small inexpensive tripod, so after I've arranged the composition I set the camera on a 2 sec timer and take my hands off - this means the camera is completely still as it takes the shot and should reduce blur as much as possible. When uploading pics they might be yellowish or tinted with another colour so try adjusting the colour values using a photo manipulation package like Photoshop. There are loads of features and filters that can be easily accessed to do this and you'll be able to adjust the brightness, contrast and shadow levels in your image as well as sharpness if you want it that bit more crisp. It's worth experimenting with it a bit. If you don't have Photoshop there will probably be something else you can get your hands on that works similarly - have a look around. I haven't actually checked to see what sort of tutorials there are for this on EB, though I think the Reviwer's Academy will most likely have some so it's probably worth your while signing up to that Hope that helps!

Awesome MOC Rook, nice one! It's good to see some of the more obscure Clone Wars vehicles in LEGO - especially when done this well! Defo give yourself a big pat on the back The Penguin made a good comment about adding CIS colouration, maybe you should consider trying it out? Some subtle blue and dark blue panels/markings/CIS logos would break up the shades of bley and make it look even more striking! It would look more unified with the rest of you CIS force too.

Cheers for the link Legomilk! I reckon this is official too... and am also in the 'looks good to me' camp They've managed to include all the features that make a Venator what it is, ok it's a wee bit fatter than the movies but it still looks the part... and has the correct number of broadside turbolasers too! The figure selection is fairly unusual but Palpatine and Royal Guards [what are those staffs they're holding?] look like they'll be ace! Let's not make premature judgements on lack of playability etc. - as mentioned by Ashoka it could be full of neat features in the interior. We'll just have to wait for more pics to see... can't wait

KimT said he's gradually going to update with newer/better photos I think having an EB based minifig index is a great idea - especially if the photos are of a consistently high quality. KimT, if you need a hand with subject material/photography, let me know.

I agree! And that was the point I was trying to get across to be honest: not to be too hard on him. He may be a kid - he's definately a collector. Lots of collectors regardless of age have massive armies and come by them in a variety of ways, whether by purchasing the sets, buying off bricklink, or my personal favourite - receiving them in presents Incidentally when I mentioned him showing em' off I meant it in the literal sense rather than him being a show-off. If I was a kid with an army that big I'd probably want the world to see too... well, maybe not... but you get my point Now, if only he'd filmed his army with a little less shaky-cam and a bit more focus...
-
Are we all so cynical? The [rich] kid obviously wanted to collect a large army and he certainly isn't the first... a quick browse through Brickshelf will find you pages with truly enormous armies. If he wants to show 'em off, let him. Thousands of us do it. I just feel sorry for all those who live near him, he [his parents] must have bled those stores dry of BP's!
