  1. Haha, I'd forgotten about the crash test, thanks :) Now the cars are much faster I might do some more....
  2. Thanks everyone, yes plenty of technic, I started with stripped out designs, however to be honest I'm really after the fun factor more than the speed.... That said however, take a look at this video, this is the latest 4x4 with softer rubber Lego tyres, it goes like stink.... In terms of gears, I found that the best combination of tyres, and sizes is the ones on now, the softter tyres above are the same dimensions, however a slightly too wide to drive two cars and can catch the crash barriers. In terms of gears, I geared down the motors to increase torque, I guess if I want pure speed I could remove this, however I like the heavier cars as they knock off the real Scalextric ones :) The current line up..!
  3. Hello again everyone, I'm still here and still going with the trains and cars... The Lego Landrover 2A pulling a Lego racing car around the Scalextric track :) Also now stepping down the 12v to 5v using a hacked car USB plug in adapter...! Hope everyone is okay :)
  4. I think there's something very sad about toys remaining MISB... Great find, however I'd have that opened and played with :)
  5. This is a 4.5v train, using a PF IR controller in between the 4.5v standard battery box and the 4.5v motor. Granted it doesn't use technic axles, I simple designed the engine around using the 4 wheel points and used large driving wheels. I think it runs (and looks) okay..?
  6. JGW - oh man don't ask that now....that would have been great to test, but it'll have to wait as.... The train room is now looking like: Although the lego is in his old room... :) And the plan is: (trying to keep a bit more room free on this one, whilst having both maximum track and some road/town available, the sidings at the top are station and engine shed respectively....
  7. Not sure if I posted these yet, however before I dismantled the current railway....my little boy needed a new bedroom! I made a couple of crash test video's...I know it's bad taste and hate smashing Lego up, however....kind of fun, so here goes... Don't panic however, the railway is simply moving down stairs and exciting plans are a foot...
  8. Love it, really inspiring thank you...
  9. Cracking well done!
  10. Sorry to bump my own thread, however thought you might fancy a laugh....
  11. Fantastic well done. It would be great to see this with minifigs inside, thank you :-)
  12. Yes the monorail, that kind of thing :) Right found the one I wanted, it was in the wacky locomotive challenge thread, as proposed by Locomotive Annie.. It a Ewing railway...as at the Patiala State Monorail in India. http://www.douglas-self.com/MUSEUM/LOCOLOCO/patiala/patiala.htm http://www.trainweb.org/railworld/Trip%202001/PSMT/ Hope this helps :)
  13. I'm always thinking of new ways to mod and be silly, hence the whole Lego Scalextric stuff... We've talked on here about outdoor railways using Lego and how well, or not, the track would hold up. Why not either try, monorail - not the Lego one, but a single track with the suspended car underneath kind of thing, or do a search for the wacky building challenge, didn't someone post something about a single rail and wheeled kind of train. That way you could use old blue or grey track and build really small. These will be very easy to build and cheap, you can have a single rail - railway all over and away you go.
  14. Hello from merry old England :-)
  15. Still building: And some slightly better video (not of the new police car yet):
  16. Wonderful, I'll get there eventually with my crane. I really add a sense of real life to the layout.
  17. Dr spook go careful with that, not saying you're wrong here, however I tried that and aa are a little bit longer than c and wouldn't fit in the tender box above.... They might in the verticle tenders with the switch on the side, however didn't fit in the box type. Mind you mine weren't as fancy as the above, but the aa battery itself was taller than a c type.
  18. Yes this works like a dream, this one is powered (and controlled) in exactly this way...
  19. And another one, Emerald Night and Super Metro Liner together
  20. I've given up on Brickshelf as they've not approved these for 3 days... So just received a 12v black motor and it runs very well...might have to save up for more. The last two show how I modded a 2x4 plate (the shame). The last picture is important as the second 2x4 plate which the standard scalextric long guide blade is resting on, stops the blade tipping back and jamming. Hope you like, check out the video too (if you've not from above)
  21. This isn't going to help much I'm afraid, however I've used the spray on type rubber, you can buy it for clothes hangers. It'll come off pretty quickly. I think you've got two realistic options: (as I found) 1. Redesign the layout to remove the ramps - not ideal however they'll annoy you after a while. 2. Create some kind of either, assisted incline or train lift....? (have two loops so the trains can run continuously for when you just want to sit back and watch and then have one of these: The Ingleby Incline Russian boat lift, only with trains
  22. Awesome, I really really love this.
  23. Brickie sure thing....will take some better photos... It's very quick and dirty however :-)
  24. Hope you don't mind more stuff: Lego Scalextric van, looks great but is a bit heavy.
