Fantastic work! I am most fond of the compactness you managed in this small yet sophisticated vehicle.

I am glad we made a great first impression.

Whoa! Looking back on that scene, that was a brutal way to go…

[MOC] [WIP] The Command of the AT-AT
LiLmeFromDaFuture replied to LiLmeFromDaFuture's topic in LEGO Star Wars
All I can say at the moment, is, as he mentioned as well, that it will require gearing throughout the entire, and could conflict with and compromise a sheer amount of detail, which is my sole endeavor to achieve whilst maintaining an incredible rigid structure. However, it would be ideal to hear his on this matter based from his experience in this field, so you can link him to this page as he requested in your conversation. -

[MOC] [WIP] The Command of the AT-AT

I honestly have no experience with power functions, etc., but I agree the concept would not work without brutally stressing the plastic to the point of breaking—the legs are too heavy. -
[MOC] [WIP] The Command of the AT-AT

I have indeed seen Artfix fantastic RC Turbo Tank. Anyway, the whole motorize mechanism will have to run from the hips all the way to the knees in order for it to walk. An individual motor will definitely need to be strong enough to handle weight of 1000+ bricks of one leg, and system compact enough without skimping out on details… Thinking about of it now it sounds quite impressive task to accomplish. -
[MOC] [WIP] The Command of the AT-AT

Actually, they are to fix the knee in place. A single ratcheted joint was inefficient to keep the top-heavy legs stable, and I could not integrate another joint (as I wished) to reduce wobble, for how thin the legs are. Another thing is that the ratcheted joint is very limited in positions, and what is seen on the image was the least amount of adjustment I could make. It greatly complicated things… I either had the option to position all legs with bent knees or all with legs straight… I ultimately decided to have all legs bent, and the Mixel joints fixing the leg in place will prevent any chance for the immense weight of the walker to collapse at the knees. -
Impressive effort! You recreated this phenomenal trailer wonderfully!

Have you thought about using , the 99784 version? They worked out nicely on my TIE Fighter, but maybe not so much on yours since it is connected differently.

[MOC] [WIP] The Command of the AT-AT
LiLmeFromDaFuture replied to LiLmeFromDaFuture's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Indeed, and to increase the stability, notice on the image that Mixel ball-joints have been implemented to support the single ratcheted joint. More so, I will be implementing into the top leg portion to reduce wobbling and swaying as the walker stands on its own four legs. -
As it turns out, the new Eurobricks does support LDD attachments, and they significantly decreased the file size limit.

As pittpenguin123 mentioned, it would probably be impossible for locomotion, especially considering how difficult it would be to integrate such a system in very thin legs. However, a motorized head is possible as dmaclego has proved. I will also endeavor to make it minifig compatible. That will certainly help along with the design process, as I will have to design the structure around the interior. Lastly, I did indeed design that AT-ST, and you can view the final product here: LINK Does this help? -
I have nothing to say for the cockpit, as I have seen it many times before, even I am using on my own TIE MOC, bottom line it is a fantastic design as well sturdy. However, the wings are most impressive by the detail of the grille bricks representing the solar panels. Though the embossed spokes detract from the panels, but you preformed your best with the smooth transition of the curved slopes. I checked your flickr for a photo of the rear and noticed the use of the 6 x 6 dish which is little to flat in my opinion. To resolve this I just simply implemented the 5 x 5 lamp shade dish, and it worked out quite nicely, yet it's all personal taste. Also why did you choose that transparent cockpit, and your file link appears to be absent?

Larry Lars managed to do it with the walker that came with set 8038, which compared to this is considerably smaller… AT-ST from 8038 modified into a two-seater by Larry Lars, on Flickr It should be doable at least with drastic remodeling of the side panels

Does the new Eurobricks now support LFX attachments, because I have not been able to do such when it first came online?

Many thanks Nom Carver! The AT-ST has certainly com a long way from its first set. Despite the clunky appearance of the legs, the Rogue One version is clearly LEGO's best!

Ooh the roundness of the dome puts LEGO's Insult of Hoth Ion Cannon to shame, shame! -
Truly amazing! How smooth does the hydraulics work?

You are very welcome, though since the upgrade to Eurobricks, I unfortunately cannot upload the LDD file.

Thank you!
