  1. I do see some similarities between yours and Jerac's, the guns, and engines for example, but the fuselage looks notably different (his design looks better in some areas and your's in other places). Though, I suppose I understand their means to capitalize on their X-Wing (and X-Wing MOCs in general) by avoiding anything to deter potential buyers, with a very similar product available by another party. So… Anyway, the striping on the wings look the finest I ever saw on a LEGO X-Wing—it cannot get better than this!
  2. It’s likely since you are a new member and have yet to meet the preliminary post quota to use the messaging system.
  3. These look so weird Especially the third one with the sharp taper. Its stance gives the impression of possibly falling on its long rear end. Just imagine the occupants' frustrations when a group of attackers rushes and pushes the walker's on its back. Though the droid sports a more reasonable, possibly even intimidating, appearance—I like it
  4. In this case, it seems like they function as vents for the guns. Although, I hear people claim disparities within these cross-sections, so who really knows.
  5. Hi,

In the past months, I made tremendous progress on my AT-AT project, since the last update I shared.  I regret not sharing any details of the journey as I did before, but after realizing the need to start from scratch again, everything changed and I did not feel like showing my WIP.  I thought removing myself from the scene would help me focus on the direction I wanted for this project and believed the outcome would result in a greater experience to indulge in if I shared it all at once.

So, recently I finished the design, and more so the instructions, on STUD.io.  Now, I am in the process of gathering the parts and setting up a plan to share all the details I missed the opportunity to do earlier.  A part of the plan will involve creating videos showcasing every part of the build and the design behind it.  I look forward to starting this soon, but until then, I made some quick renders of the model in STUD.io.  I did not make any larger ones, it seems like a waste of time to do otherwise since I plan to build it anyway, so I hope you enjoy this little teaser regardless.

Most certainly! I made a rough draft so I can build and proof it myself, but afterward, I will polish up as necessary and release it for purchase on Rebrickable.

Thank you for your interest; it really motivates me to take every moment I can to get this out for others to enjoy!

Great!  I will have a lot of information to share about what all happened behind the scenes—thank you!

  6. Yes, and matching the width of top viewports to the bottom could help its intent. On another note, on the actual vehicle, I suppose enough space would exist for the commander/gunner to fully stand up and peer through these, which would make the thank very tall in person.
  7. I did not recognize these before, as the angles leading into the detail gave me the impression of some "intake." They seem too small compared to the main eyes, but I see the limited space given to work with. Though if you could move the utmost top of the forehead back by one stud and remove the 1x2 curved slope to open up the eyelet to two studs, I believe it could look even better (albeit at the cost of the turret).
  8. It does seem small, but in my opinion, the 2x2 size would ruin the contrast between the red and white colors and also flow over the dark red coloring established at the edge of the body.
  9. Yes, so much an improvement over the previous iteration. The face looks pleasing more sophisticated and the actual eye holes add depth as well than the simplified design!
  10. It looks like a vehicle the space pirates would use. Argh! Great job for including a background to this creation! It offers so much to the experience beyond just the photos.
  11. @HERMANtheSMASHER No problem here! Yeah, I somewhat abandoned this project to solve its issues I had, with a more manageable scaled down version. Despite how extravagant the head looks, my biggest issue with this project falls here. IT IS ABSURDLY FRAGILE. The visor itself is a deal for trouble! Each of the triangular pieces connects ever so delicately to whatever shoddy way possible. It all holds very loosely to the model, so any painstaking attempt to align them perfectly could unintentionally crumble it. So much of troubles with fragility with this project as a whole frustrated me so much to Kragle it and seal up the mouths of every little part that defied my quest for ULTRA DETAIL Then I figured (with the much-needed help of criticism for using glue ) what difference exists between my ambition and simply putting together a model kit if it both takes glue to complete it? Well, finding various elements to replicate certain detail has its fun, but it's no saving grace for the cheapskate use of glue. I very much look forward to resuming progress on a larger scale AT-AT! The smaller one is amazing in its own right, but as you mentioned, does not carry the extra detail like this one. Though I do not know what will return from this project, or what new will developed since the growth I made with building LEGO, but time will tell!
  12. Let no Rebel judge this walker by its size, less their gaze wanders into the eyes of an aggressive abyss, intimidating even the bravest of defiant scum!
  13. I certainly plan to! For a MOC, using parts in colors readily available and currently in production was a fundamental focus in the design process, so to reproduce it would be relatively easy.
  14. Close for sure! That period of updating one thing after the other, and another, over and over has slowed down these last few months. Then comes testing the design and build process, which I look forward to exploring more openly!
  15. @Fonne I never tire of seeing one LEGO AT-AT after another, nor do I cease to find amusing the common mistake of the leg fixed to the foot backward Keep up the great progress anyway!
  16. @krisandkris12 Well, ironically, I wanted to explain the situation thoroughly and plain as so not to sound like I'm coming from a position of obstinacy, though I might have done the exact opposite! Much has changed besides outward appearances, since the last time I shared an update. Perhaps the most dramatic change regarding this project has taken place in my building style; it has seriously evolved since when I started back in 2012, and from the results, I believe it has for the better. Yes, to an extent. It could otherwise stand as if in a stride, though the turntables main role establishes a more than adequate connection to the legs, as opposed to bearing the weight of the walker on a single pin or axle. About 3" taller: 20.5"/52cm.
  17. @dmaclego @anothergol @krisandkris12 Trust me when I say, I did not, in the least bit, intend for it to turn out this unsightly, but the predicament seems completely unavoidable in the grand scheme of things. By this I mean, the "cam part" functions more so as an extension of the walker's framework than a manifest to its accuracy; the curved, slope elements merely enable, somewhat as it may be, a more graceful appearance, than an otherwise clunky chunk it would look. Despite its roundness, glaringly obvious to overlook, it will hardly elicit like honest opinions when compared to other aspects alongside its oddness … Though not to excuse it completely from its faults, just after redirected to my attention, I promptly began changing it, in a strong effort to proportion it better. Though then fresh with motivation at the beginning of this endeavor, I felt pleased with how well the changes progressed smoothly in my favor, but too soon it turned obvious it simply would not work. The underlying issue developed at the connection point to the leg. The leg connects to the “cam” via a small Technic turntable that fittingly rests as far up as possible, right under the build-work that makes up the rounded top of the leg; unsuitably unable to fit any higher. Big deal. Why does this beg to be mentioned? Well, simply put, once corrected, the leg then stood over the cam just a peek! Glaringly obvious to overlook, and to restate, the turntable cannot sit any higher, save for the leg made taller, which ideally I would not opt for. No. Not such impressive to that degree!
  18. Much more to this AT-AT remains to see its reveal, than what presently meets the eye; if this impresses, what will soon come should no doubt enthrall anticipation!
  19. Yes, those are its trouble areas, but trying to lose density might inadvertently diminish its definition gains A splash of sand blue makes juicy blends with monotone grays—delishous!
  20. That one, as it progressed with constant updates, actually turned out to scale larger than the minifigure-scale I desired to achieve originally. Once realizing this, I started completely from scratch; even what you see now changed drastically and developed from its early iterations…
  21. Sounds exciting! I have not heard anything about an AT-AT from Lego. I can wait contently for an official reveal, not so much like others So knowing the community's desire for one makes the appropriate opportunity far too good to pass exploiting it But hey! I did misspeak once, this is a new UCS AT-AT (mine) being teased; I cannot control the interpretation of others' though Glad you like the walker, though I actually have yet to finish designing it (if you can tell)! The proportions you speak of I did not achieve deliberately, but I am amazed how well the proportions turned out despite my otherwise directed priorities! Yes, a mediocre one at best!
  22. Well, sorta :D
  23. I am surprised how I seem to miss this despite the many times I have checked that category to ensure the parts used are in production and relatively easy to get, but yes, these will be especially perfect for the head!
  24. @krisandkris12 I have seen that video too and many times over! It mesmerizes me geekfully like the stop motion in ESB; its locomotion progresses smoothly, yet gives way to cumbersome feeling! A motorize AT-AT already presents its challenges, and it multiplies readily with a larger scale to accommodate all those monotonous, gape-inducing, details we pleasure, along with the mechanizing. Considering this all has drawn me to a possible application of the walker mechanized in a fashion similar to what this build has done for his AT-ST: AT-ST w.i.p by Carl Greatrix, on Flickr @anothergol The 1/4 octagonal ones, or something else I am missing?
  25. Many thanks! Without fail, the possibilities of Lego impresses me beyond amazement; it is such a wonderful medium to express imagination! Mechanizing a Lego AT-AT does sound like a dream come true, though, more than likely, not feasible with the design of details, but certainly a perfect goal for an even larger AT-AT. Regardless, I believe this AT-AT, that nears completion and to see its reveal soon, will indeed emerge a true gem, because it has felt so to me; reminiscing back in 2012, when I started with the idea of making a genuine minifig-scale AT-AT walker, and to see now how far it has gone—truly amazes me!
