  1. "Now look here lady Nayasto. It is just a door, yes? Absolutely nothing to be afraid of. Merely enchanted, and simply rather subtley by the looks of it." Na'im glances round at the rest of the party and shakes his head "My, my it appears we are all overreacting!" He says with a small laugh
  2. Na'im glances strangely at Kiray until he notices the nostrum in her hand "Of course...it all makes sense now." so not only was the party populated by oafish demons, rouges incapable of speaking common and pacifist dwarfs, but drunken knights who told tall tales as well-was he the only one who kept his head straight around here?
  3. "Real it may be master Mihnak, but I refuse to risk my neck just to get into a supposedly impregnable prison. Perhaps master Van Cleef should check the magic door with his magnifying glass to make sure it's safe for us to go in? Either way, it sounds like a much more viable option than battering through a thick wall"
  4. Na'im hides a snort by turning it into a hasty cough-perhaps he would end up getting Germ's rather nice scroll of blindness after all.
  5. Na'im Groans and begins the work of healing everyone in the party back to full health who needs it, and drinks a tonic when he is done "imbeciles...foolish excuses of mercenaries...what on earth have I got myself into this time?" He mutters to himself as he dose so Seeing Germ head off to counter the patrols on his own he hisses in his direction "Fool! You'll just get yourself killed! We need a new plan-my badge of the smokemaster here could help, if we can draw the patrols out to our location-then I can cause a distraction, that will enable us to slip around them and gain access to the main body of the prison-perhaps Elnath could use his Ruby to light a fire that could attract the guards? You may not like accepting lady Bain's help, master Germ, yet I do not like working with the creed either. If we want to get our reward and call this quest a job well done then we need to accept our allies for who they are." OOC: Posting from my phone again so no bolded actions for me, but to be clear Na'im heals everyone and drinks a tonic
  6. "An Orcish strategist hmm? That's something I thourght I'd never see to be sure" Na'im laughs at his own joke "Well your plan is as good as any lady Miderun-shall we go ahead then?"
  7. Na'im looks at the Map for a few moments seemingly deep in thourght. At last he looks up "Ah, an interesting challenge we have here lady Bain. My personal approach would favour going to the quarters...I presume they are for the guards...and in any case removing them from the picture. Then we should head down and clear out the dungeons-I feel you underestimate my people however lady Nayasto-there will be now question of then taking bribes from there former jail wardens, particuarly considering the races in question. If we start a prison riot we can move into the treatment facility and Oswains playground-whatever that may be."
  8. "You make good pionts Lady Miderun, yet I feel the orcish efforts to demonise slavery have only gone so far-there are still many places in the world were people live in chains" Na'im shrugs inidcating the matter really was beyond his concern "Still mantaining a balence of power in the north keeps everyone happy and some would argue heroica has done some good work for the world-for now at least. There will of course, be a day when the names of the heroes will be left to the history books, and our deeds will be long forgotten...but this is not the time for such talk. Suffice to say, such a day is still a long way away."
  9. Still treking through the wastes of Spelesia to reach the ruined city of Vallahau, Na'im suddenly recieves a magical pink letter out of thin air. He has to squint and put on his spectacles to read the writing but he deduced it was about some sort of lotterey, back at the hall. Grinning he signs his name on the parchment "Hmph...never could resist a game of chance anyway..might as well give it a try" he msues, but still a small part of him remembers that was how he lost most of the riches he bought with him from Fenario in the first place.
  10. Na'im frowns "You feel that Taroki's campaign in the high kingdoms was beneficial to both sides lady Miderun? Despite a large number of your race ending up enslaved at the hands of the high kingdoms and the entire kingdom of ennon desolated? Forgive me but I still do not understand what you mean. But better you feel good about the invasion than hold a grudge against the kingdoms I suppose...I thourght I knew how my people and the Alpieth stood once but evidently I was mistaken. Things are never simple in war, and when there is strife you will always find factions who want to manipulate the conflict to their own ends-like our friend Latte Oswain and those within the creed, but we still don't know the full picture of their motives it appears." "One understands immediately lady Miderun-but pray, what is an uzardtrin?"
  11. Na'im can't help but overhearing some of Bobby and Miderun's conversation "Lady Miderun have you ever considered that perhaps the diplomacy practised by humans and elves is In the interest of nothing getting done? The last time we went all out...just look around you. We nearly obliterated a continent. Politics may be inefficient and cumbersome but if we-that is to say the Alpieth and my people-decide to settle our differences by open conflict we shall come very close to finishing what we started in the war all those years ago" Na'im sighs and glances up at the stars "It takes a very different kind of bravery to do nothing even when you yearn with all your being to make matters right, but is it so different from bravery on the battlefield? I believe you have both kinds of bravery in you lady Miderun-and if I may say so myself I have never been wrong about anyone before..." Na'im says with a small smile "Whereabouts do you and master Bobby here know each other from? I recognise that connection between you-it is of old comrades in arms is it not?"
  12. "More like if we do meet the star elves in four days there will be trouble" says Na'im darkly hefting his staff "Besides patience my dear Bain. With surprise on our side, we could always ambush the creed assassins at the enterance to the ruined city at the arranged meeting time. Surely you, your imprisoned friend and myself could overpower two assassins with surprise at our backs? At any rate their time will come I am sure." says Na'im with an unpleasant smile "Vallahau is in ruins master Mihnak. It was one of the cities my people levelled with the power of the nerkastones see if I recall correctly. If any renaments of civilisation managed to survive intact then I would be very surprised" Na'im says shortly "At any rate let us be off to Vallahau and from there to find the stone of legend!" Says Na'im in an attempt to rally the party
  13. "A peasant my dear women?" Sneers Na'im at Narie "ha! In my day I was a high cleric and was treated like royalty...how I would love to teach you assassins a lesson in humility...but sadly I would hate to get my robes coated in your filthy blood...and seemingly we are all now on the same side" Na'ims tone makes it clear he is not happy with this arrangement Na'im sighs and turns back to the party "Very well I shall stand with the party now and I have your backs. But mark my words if I can avoid it you shall not send me on some fools errand to the sealed Capitol." says Na'im continuing to glare at the creed assassins "Master Germ makes a good piont" muses Na'im "these stones could fetch a pretty price in the bazaars of Salmanda or Strivvi...or improve the lives of a great many poor people in the slums back in Eubric...the piont being if no one in this land can be trusted with the stones perhaps we should take matters into our own hands" Na'im adds hastily "Lady Kiray shouldn't we be doing our best to avoid contact with this Latte Oswain not going out of our to make him see sense? Party or not I feel I would rather avoid running into a fanatical star elf" says Na'im nervously
  14. "I never claimed they wanted you dead master Mihnak, only myself and lady Bain. You wouldn't understand...you never lived underground in the dark days following the war...the creed were the queen's chosen assassins. They were the ones who forced us underground really. They made forays into the wastes on there Pegasi and would pounce on any fenari they saw who tried to return to the surface world. And now you ask me to accept the help of these sworn enemies of the fenari! Secrets, lies and deceit-it's all part of there work, they're assassins by trade after all. I don't know what lies they've told you but they'll throw me or Bain off halfway to whatever godforsaken place they want to take us to. You'll have yet to find worse enemies of my people on Olegia!" Na'im says slowly Na'ims eyes flicker with amusement "there is nothing romantic between me and Bain master Mihnak, aside from our kinship. Things would be very different if we happened to be in dwarven lands and we encountered a female dwarf strung up in street by a crowd of talking trees!" OOC: I hope you don't mind all this background to the creed I'm putting in PJB. if it isn't consistent with your idea of them I'm sure you could dismiss it as fenarian proporganda
  15. "Ah, the things people will do for love!" Na'im grumbles as he gets to his feet after the battel ih the star elf patrol "I hope your fiancee is worth all this toil and pain Bain-and I am intruiged to know what we get at the end of all this" Na'im say his voice dripping with unpleasentlness "Do we have far left to go to the ruined city?" Na'im asks shooting Bain a furitive glance. But he seems more shaken than angry and shortly turns away from the party to stare across the plains thinking hard about his strange dream, untill he is interrupted by the arrival of a flock of pegasi... "I couldn't agree more Bain my dear" says Na'im in a smooth drawl "So tell me master Mihnak, what have these star elves said that makes you think they are trustworthy? What honeyed words have they fed you? Friendly they may be to you perhaps, but I have yet to find a being in this land, who can see beyond differences in race and creed-I'll sooner join the ranks of the accursed wolfgang than accept the hospitality of a star elf-much less the creed! Do you have any idea of the atrocities they have commited?! We told stories about them to scare our young in the dark days!" Na'im draws closer to Bain in a gesture of solidarity OOC: Ok so I'm back now guys! I'll try to make up for my inactivity recently, in the coming weeks, and having just finished reading up on the quest, it's looking really interesting...
  16. "Your wish is my command lady Nayasto!" says na'im breathing heavily as his portly form shifts from the front row to the back and he attempts to heal Miderun for the second time that battle OOC: it is my regret to say that from tomorrow I will be away on vacation for the next two weeks to the mountains of Southern Italy, and so will not be able to contribute to the quest again until the 4th of August when i will be returning. Until then, call me pie has control over all of Na'ims actions. You guys truly have been an amazing party, so try not to have too much fun without me while I'm gone!
  17. "Precisely" exclaims Na'im "there comes a time master Mihnak when you need to stop looking at the bigger picture and just focus on getting the job done." "If the plan fails and the werrsnskes get the stone then lady Miderun takes the blame. If it works, and against all the odds we Manage to retrieve the stone then do much the better. Thus lies my philosophy master Mihnak-it's foolproof." Na'im says quietly, in a voice that would not appear unnatural if addressing a favourite nephew
  18. "You are out of your depth master Mihnak" says na'im through gritted teeth "you are just one little dwarf in a big wide world. Giving the nerkastone back to the guardians will cause the fenarians to starve, while letting the were snakes keep it while we fret around here will lead to unparalleled destruction. There is never a straight answer. Now listen to your party leader and stand down. When the way is clouded and no clear path is visible, that is when you should fall back on your old loyalties and let others who are more powerful and wiser than you decide on the road. By caring about this forest you risk taking the path to bitterness and despair. But why should we care about your forest? I care nothing for the land where I have gained and then lost everything. Why do you care about a place you have only just visited anyway?" Na'im turns his back on Mihnak "Stand with us or stand aside master Mihnak it makes no difference. But if you turn upon us we will treat you just as if you were one of the foreat creatures who stands against us."
  19. "What did the guardians tell you master Mihnak That they were the good guys and the fenarians were the bad guys? You and I both know It is never that simple." Na'im sighs "Once when I was younger I was like you-a paragon of sorts. I thought I could embody the light and claim Olegia for my deity myself. I saw myself as a righteous crusader, a light in the darkness. But the world taught me a brutal lesson. One mans hero Is another mans villain. They call us heroes but In reality only a select grouping see us that way. You can't please everyone master Mihnak. And you can't change the world on your own. Perhaps it is time you stuck behind your employer and took the gold at the end like a good hero and stopped your righteous crusade for the good of the forest. When you become too embroiled in a cause you become not a hero but a fanatic!" Na'im says shaking his head "the world taught me to take a back seat, look out for myself and never become too focused on an ideal. I don't believe you would turn your hand cannon on your friends master Mihnak" says na'im dismissively Na'im attacks the autumn dryad from the front row "I never doubted you for a second lady Miderun." says Na'im weakly with a forced smile at Miderun's use of language "But what pray, did you call him anyway?"
  20. Na'ims vision starts to swim as the poison takes it's toll. With clumsy hands he attempts to heal himself from the back row
  21. Na'im grunts as the mutant spider slams its tendril's into his stomach, and, struggling uneasily to his feet attempts to heal Miderun from the back row, hoping for some kind of miricale
  22. Seconded ! great sets, great characters great story so far! What more could you ask for? keep the sets rolling in I say!
  23. OOC: So sorry Goliath-I'll do my best not to make that mistake again! "As he should be" says Na'im in a measured voice, deciding not to voice his own misgivings on his ex-ruler "I don't suppose you have any tips that could help us out here lady Bain?" Na'im shouts out, as the enmies beign to cicle him and the other heroes "Miderun if you could hand over your Opal to master Van Cleef here, I believe we can make short work of these foes. But to do that, we need the help of the others" Na'im speaks to the party at large "this is not the time to voice your misgvings about our aims-this is a mater of life and death! Stand and fight with us!" Na'im cries, holding the Lucerna beatus aloft and charging Mutated Aracniredbak from the back row "Being a demon is no bar to having a civil tounge master Germ-have you never heard the legends of the Archdemon Ahriman who use his silken tounge to whisper in the ears of men, through gaps in the fabric of spacetime, in days gone by, making them commit unspeakable acts in the name of envy?" Na'im says incredously Na'im opens his mouth to say something definant back at germ but thinks again and glances down at his stomach, which gave a unpleasent rumble he quite liked his food after all, and was hardly used to not having three comfortable meals a day "Now here lies the loot I speak of master germ" shouts Na'im excitedly pionting at the gemstones carried by the dryads "Here lies the true power of the forest master germ, not in flowers or tree boughs! Oh, but of course if you don;t want any loot, we don't have to give any to you I suppose..." ays Na'im mischeviously "Nice to have you joinig us lady Nayasto!" says Na'im over the sounds of battle OOC: But what about me!
  24. "How dare you master Mihnak! I am above such pettty rivlaries! Have I not made it clear already that I do not support the Fenarians aims wholly as well?" says Na'im shaking with fury "You forget that the star elves are working with the gaurdians and will not consent to release lady Bain here down whatever the circumstances. If we stand any chance of recovering the stone we shall need Bain's help, so we must act before the star elves arrive. Do not tell me I do not know the star elves master Mihnak-they are crueller than you know and will not hesistate to attack me for who I am! " "More like impossible" mutters Na'im "Not even with the red angel at your back.." Na'im trails off-he forgot that he had left his religion back in Fenario when he was forced into exile-what god would have left his race to fall to such lows? But there was always that lagging suspicion he was in denial. he shook his head. It would not do to think about it again. Just keep moving on, keeping Fenario-at his back that as his motto
  25. That could take a while...not that its a bad idea of course!
