  1. UPDATE: new fotos In this third part I more or less finished the internal structure of the main body, I got all the main functions working: 1XL for luffing, 1XL for swinging and 1 L for hoisting and lowering. I also completed the boom and reeved the wires, and installed the hook with a provisionary container lift module. Now that there's quite some weight on the base of the crane, I noticed that the outer wheels are lifted somewhat and that the weight of the crane mainly sits on the 8 inner wheels. That makes driving with the bogies turned somewhat difficult. Driving in a straight line is going fine. Outriggers and struts work fine. I must say that the base isn't flexing that much due to the weight of the upper structure. Also I managed to distribute the balance nicely between the boom and the body, even with the boom fully lowered. Final step is finishing the body and the base with panels, finishing the boom because it's still not 100% solid and adding cosmetic extras. when everything is done I'll make a video.
  2. UPDATE: New fotos The 4 outriggers are ready, apart from some touch ups. The outriggers are working fine. The wheelbase is also finished and it only needs a cosmetic finish so everything looks nice and smooth, also I'm going to add a cab for the driver of the wheelbase. Next I started work on the main mast/tower. I'm untill now very pleased how it turned out, the tower also needs the final cosmetic addons (lights, ladders, etc) next foto is a front view, I don't think I'll close everything up with panels due to the mounting of the LA Next foto is a provisionally mating with the base to check overall proportions And a few closeups... Next step is the main body with the winch and the slewing mechanism. I think I'll do the main body in red... Hope you like it thus far
  3. Otherwise the LA's wouldn't extend or retract and the endpiece would just turn around. the halfbeams keep the foot in a certain direction and so the piston can go up and down
  4. Hello Everybody, I started since long with an ambitious MOC, a mobile port crane. I'll try to make it to a finished product, parts and motivation permiting. I'm not so good at inventing new models from scratch and design them well. but here goes... It will be sort of a combination between to models, one frome Liebherr and the other from Kone cranes. My model has 8 sets of 2 wheels, all of them are steered and 2 sets of wheels are driven by an XL-motor. The Steering mechanism is driven by an L-motor. The outriggers are also driven by 2 L-motors. In the above picture, the 4 centre bogies were driven, but I already changed the design, so only 2 are driven now, and the drive itself has been changed also. The centre outrigger mechanism and the outriggers are based on the design of IVAN MOCS concrete pump. Here two outriggers are completely finished, I'm waiting for spare parts to finish the other 2 outriggers. in this foto I already put the slewing arrangement based on the one from the 42082 RTC.
  5. I think this colour scheme is also highly doable with current piece inventory
  6. Hello All, My MOC is finished, Here are the last fotos, video is in production. Here you can see the rig in transport mode, inside the door you can see the battery box which drives the winch and the turntable. The controls were modified by my son. as last a size compairison with the 42082, I think the two are more or less the same scale. Hope everybody like it and the video is coming soon
  7. Yes indeed it is, in the previous moc it was also the same cabin
  8. Hello All, Another new MOC using the XLAs, I'm giving the rotary drilling rig another go, My last attempt at it was not really succesfull and remained unfinished. So Here it is: the rotary drilling rig MKII Most parts come from the Liebherr excavator including all but one control+ motors, and it has 2 control+ battery boxes. The trackbase is borrowed from flybum's volvo excavator. Here are some WIP pics, any comments are always welcome Two XL-motors and 1 control+ receiver are situated in the trackbase 1 XL-motor is used for the normal LAs in the base frame 1 L-motor is used for swivel 1 L-motor is used for the winch and 1 L-motor situated in the frame is used to drive the XLAs to move the leader up and down For the paneling I'm recycling panels from the Liebherr excavator. Normally I'm going to install 2 extra motors with a conventional battery box and IR or sbrick receiver. Other pics will follow
  9. Bad quality control Here are some images of the part 6010864 which I had 1 really bad and 3 with defective molding but still usable, seems Lego is dropping the ball big time in quality control.
  10. Hello, glad you liked it, but i don't have instructions
  11. Hello everybody, I decided to put the new XL LA's on the 42082 RTC and now I think the crane looks a bit more realistic.I modded the boom with 9L red beams to look a bit 'bulkier'. With the new actuators I could put a support for the boom in drive mode. I also put an extension for the boom for this extra 'reach', I could only do this with the new LA's so the main boom can be more vertical and that the 2nd stage doesn't bend too much. The 2 pins that hold the extension in place can be stored in the base The support can be folded downwards so the upperstructure can rotate 360° The normal boom is extendable with the extension in its storage space The angle of the extension can be adjusted manually I only heve to install the string and the hook (need longer string)
  12. So it's finally done... I have finished my electric rope shovel mkII. I must say it looks quite good, the body houses 2 electric motors, one XL which drives the winch and one L which drives the winch for the unloading flap, the third L motor drives the arms or the 'sticks', this one sits in the ladder itself. The excavator uses the 2 control+ hubs and all is controlled with the Buwizz App. In the end the upper structure is still well balanced, and the weight is distributed evenly. I hope you liked the MOC/MOD
  13. Dear All, With the advent of the Liebherr excavator, I wanted to give a new go to build a new rope shovel excavator, which I'll name rope shovel MkII. The last crane remained unfinished, I stopped when I had to do the panelling. This time I'll use the trackbase of the Liebherr and the shell of the main body, the rest I'll try to build myself. For now the main boom is in an advanced stage of completion. The goal is to use the new motors later on. For testing I Installed an L-motor but this is not definite. Here are the first pictures The next picture is sort of a MOC-up Comments are always welcome
  14. Here's the video
  15. Hello all, Here's a Moc of a generic pipe layer, with the cabin of the 42094. It has a propulsion of 2 L-moters and a subtractor unit. the boom and winch are both operated with an M-motor. The model is fully remote controlled with 2 IR-receivers. The counter-weight moves simultaneously with the boom.
  16. Three stage boom, I also tried to install a three-stage boom, which in my opinion looks better on the model. Proportion wise it's a better solution. The first stage is 7X7, the second 5X5 and the last stage remains the same of the original model. The second stage uses gears to extend and the last stage uses a string, according to the 42009 model. The LA's are able to lift the complete boom without a problem, the extension of the 2nd stage suffers a bit from friction but extends without engaging the clutch. The total length of the boom with extension is 103 cm, I'm also quite pleased with the bending as the stages still have sufficent support whe extended. I tried to use as much of the original parts, and sorry for the color vomit as i dont have that much red parts. The boom could use the new LA's to be a little bit more vertical when fully deployed. The string under the main part is left over string from the last stage as I didn't want to cut away the left overs.
  17. Any change there will be instructions for the undercarriage? Looks really compact and more true to the real machine
  18. Really fantastic build, great lighting and very nice video with great sound, simply stunning!!!! congrats
  19. In my old WIP topic there are some pictures [WIP] Electric Rope Shovel
  20. I see in this excavator, the opportunity to finally enhance the excavator 8043 with the right LAs , the 42009 with the right LAs and the 42082 with the right LAs all at the same time, even to fit or to mod the 42082 with tracks. This is why the Liebherr 42100 is a must buy from the very start. The 42100 can be "easily" modded into this..... I can use the base, the bucket and the new motors with the hubs, it's like it was meant to be a rope shovel excavator
  21. I don't know what's happening here..... you're explaining how the spider crane looks like, what's on it and how to MOD it, apparently you have detailed images of it, but I don't see the point of sharing them to us if the rest don't have the images at this point. Wouldn't it be more interesting to discuss this when the model comes in the shop or when the images are official. Now you are the only one talking about the model it's not even a real discussion This is my point of view, you can do whatever you want but for me it's a bit senseless to begin with this 2-3 months before the launch.
  22. Sorry to say this, but you have started a topic about a model that nobody has ever seen, how canpeople comment or join a discussion on a build that nobody has seen in detail. I find this a bit odd and frustrating especially when you start with mods. I guess you like to be the first to start the discussion, but I find the whole thing pointless if you don't share the pictures. These topics should start when TLG releases officialy releases the sets or images of the sets, not earlier. It's too bad that TLG doesn't release these images sooner but so be it, we'll have enough time later to start with mods and discussions.
  23. I don't know if it already had been mentioned here, but those LA look like it's a new mold/design, and not just an extension of the current LA's, also the tracks have the new big sprocket wheels, all good things to modify cranes and track bases, just enough to modify the booms of 42009 and 42082 and to modify the tracks of 42042, the last 2 LA's I can use to modify 8043. That liebherr excavator is reallyu a must buy for 2 boxes. I can hardly wait
  24. extremely long awaited video [media] It shows a bit how it works, but with a lack of a good drill it wasn't doing it's job well
  25. Finished Build, Hello all, I finally finished my build of the aerial lift. I'm not really into aesthetics, so the base turret maybe looks a bit unfinished. But the model works and I have already another MOC in mind so I'll leave it with this. For this final episode I reworked the base again and this resulted in a much better weight balance so I could move the battery box to the base in a much better position. The automatic balancing of the plattform works ok-ish. Because it works with air, the compression/extension of the platform cylinder lags behind to that of the pilot cylinders. Probably It can function better with larger pilot cylinders but that would make the model to big. I managed to make a small video, forgive me of the quality video making is not one of my strong points [media]
