42146 - Liebherr LR13000
gvo25 replied to Ngoc Nguyen's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hello all, I'm currently building a (for now, non-powered) crawler base with the turntable of the RTC and I must admit that it looks quite ok. I guess a maximum width of the main boom of 9 or 11 at the most should be doable. I'll post a picture soon. -

Hello All Talking about new pieces, maybe TLG will include large thin pulley wheels without axle holes, so they can spin freely. This is something elementary for a big crawler crane and not yet in the inventory. I'm also wondering how many meters of string TLG should include, for a height of 1,5m, 10m of string? Especialy if they want to run the strings 2 or 3 times through the hook pulley. Also the hook pulley will need some small additional weights, plastic alone won't be enough weight I think. Also a bigger turntable should be an option or smaller diameter curved liftarms. If TLG would release this set it would be a very intresting build with a lot of new pieces and for me it's a definite buy. -

[MOC][MOD] Unimog U 4023/U 5023
gvo25 replied to gvo25's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
WIP Unimog Revisited Hello All, second attempt to build a better cab and improve the unimog. First of all I adapted the chassis of the unimog to fit the new hubs, and I went back to the normal style of electric motors. It all works well, the XL-motor lacks a bit in power but it's not to bad. The chassis is also lengthened at the rear to accomodate the claas tyres a bit better. Also with the new cab, the unimog is fairly heavy. The underside of the chassis, with the old style of motors, the Claas tyres and the new hubs. The whole drivetrain can still be downgeared if the model results a bit too heavy. With the new planetary hubs, steering has improved quite a bit in comparison with the portal axes. So the front of the chassis is built with curved panels and this L-shaped panels, on the underside there's a curved panel which acts as a mudguard. The sloped trunk were not really easy to do but it's already a better solution as the previous design. The doors have an improved locking system, I still have to install the raised air intake, and the whole after section has to be rebuild. The original front winch will be reinstalled, and at the back a new crane will be installed. More pics will be uploaded, and all comments are welcome. -

Hello Eric, Just built the volvo grader, played with it and I must say it's a very fantastic model, drives well, works well. I like this model almost more than the A-model. Good job, and keep up the good work. I'm looking forward to future B-models

[help] PU control
gvo25 replied to gvo25's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks for the reply, it helped me a lot -
Hello everybody, To control my models with the new control+ motors I used the Buwizz app. Now that Buwizz app doesn't support the control+ system anymore, which app is the best to use now?

So here are the first pictures, It's a first iteration of the small snowgroomer, which ended up not so small due to the big trackpieces i used. But it will be the determining factor of the size of the big unit. It's not so special but I think it does refer to the original model. The trackbase is done in blue and the upper structure is done in red and grey, which are the dominant colours in the original model. I hope you like it.

Dear All, It's my first time entering a contest, but here goes. I'll be trying to recreate the set 8660 arctic rescue unit. I can rememeber that a nephew of my had all the sets of the arctic line, and it was really fun to play with. I'll try to do it with the pieces I have and I'll try to finish it in time. The hardest part will be to include the snowgroomer in the mother vehicle, but I'll make the best of it.

[MOC][WIP] Excavator
gvo25 replied to gvo25's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hello All, some ultimate pictures, I'll dissassemble the excavator and rebuild the tracks (little bit shorter and higher, and other drive system). The swinging mechanism will also be modified to have smoother functionality. I will modify the drive of the boom, because the LA's don't run equal, and i'll will change the body into a sleeker design. This a group foto of all my excavators Next are pictures together with the volvo dumper -

gvo25 replied to gvo25's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I built, looking from fotos and gut feeling, what I think is right. The main factor for size I guess is the whole arm and the size of the undercarriage was more or less molded by flybums excavator -
[MOC][WIP] Excavator
gvo25 replied to gvo25's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hello all, It's finished... I think, here are 2 fotos of the finished excavator with the cabin, internally I reinforced the structure a bit more, and everything is a bit more solid. Video (not my strongest feature is coming soon) Comments are always welcome -
[MOC][WIP] Excavator
gvo25 replied to gvo25's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The only thing what bothers me, and what all lego excavators have, is that the stick doesn't go that far inward, for example to store on a truck. The boom has a great range, from almost 0 degrees to 80 degrees, the excavator could dig very big holes. next week I'll try to do a video Ok, I'll think of that next time -

Hello all, Some more pictures, I reworked the body and added the 'hydraulic' hoses. Maybe I alter the stick LA to get a more realistic range of motion. Next week I'll do the cabin, which in my opinion will be the hardest thing to get just right. As always comments and questions are always welcome -
[MOC][WIP] Excavator
gvo25 replied to gvo25's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
New small update, I've worked on the body, I don't know if I'll keep this design, it's rather static and bulky, I would like to use some opening doors to add realism. mental note: Now I know why they changed to control+, I had to relocate the pf receivers many times to install this part of the body. Hope you like it, comments always welcome Link does not work -

[MOC][WIP] Excavator
gvo25 replied to gvo25's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The bucket was designed by efferman and you can buy it on his page on shapeways. It was the bucket designed to fit better on the lego technic model 8043 and yes the bucket is a tad too smal for this excavator, but I find it looks better than the bucket used in flybum's excavator. maybe @efferman can design a new bucket which is two sizes bigger. The excavator will be a generic model, with features imported from various makers. -
[MOC][WIP] Excavator
gvo25 posted a topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Hello All, Recently I bought the lego 42114 volvo dumptruck and before I would build that I wanted to build an excavator to go with it. While Flybums excavator is a very good one I wanted to try myself to build an excavator. Here are some WIP pictures. As you can see the top part of the excavator uses the normal power function motors. 1 x L-motor for swinging, 2 x L-motors for the main boom, 1 x L-motor for the stick and one m - motor for the bucket. The main boom houses two motors and is my own design, the stick is an exact copy of flybum's excavator. The motors use use two AA-battery boxes and the AAA battery box is used for ballast, and will later power the lights. The crane uses a normal turntable, as i find the big ring gears too big for this scale of excavator. The top part wobbles a bit while turning but it's definitely within limits. The trackbase uses 2 control+ XL-motors integrated into the tracks with a worm gear and normal gearing. The battery box is situated just below the turntable. -
[MOC][MOD] Unimog U 4023/U 5023
gvo25 replied to gvo25's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
So, second iteration of the unimog, It has now the inclined bonnet with a smaller windshield. It has also a new bumper with all the functions PTO and air supply. The cab has an XL-motor for steering. The body has a L-motor for functions and XL motor for drive. Later I would want to add the cargo bay in white panels but I fear i don't have enough white panels if not it'll be grey again. Later on I would like to add a salt dispenser. -
Hello all, With the possible release of lego technic mercedes Zetros, I decided to rebuild my Technic unimog U400 into an unimog U4023. I could do this thanks to the recently aquired Claas Tractor Tyres and the abundant parts of the Liebherr - I find the Liebherr a fantastic set for parts - I modified the cab and I will integrate 2 control+ L motors and 1 XL control+ motor for drive. First I started with the cab, the chassis I'll do next The cab is build on the same base of the U400 cab The cab is not 100% true to the original, lack of various grilles, the front wheel arches are not integrated in the cabin, the air intake etc, but I find it a great start if i can say so myself. The cab features lockable doors Here is a foto of the cab on the original U400 unimog chassis with Claas Tyres. So the next project is to rebuild the chassis with the control+ motors and I also plan to rebuild the front bumper to match the U4023 bumper. Hope you liked it so far
