Did some small research. In set 8860 it looks like, on the box there really was pictures with some spring and axle combination, but set came with soft shock absorbers (8860 is set with which they were introduced). Maybe some very first sets really came with that solution, but can't find. Interesting.

Who reads the rules :) Good choise. Reducing 2x gears in shrinking contest is OK, I think. Using small turntables as wheel hubs, reduces width by 1 stud, which could be enough. -

Detail, design level is really impressive, especially not using stickers for "paint job". I also like the way You integrated those small wheel arches in front. -

As we notices, it doesn't look, like there is separate motor for front wheels, that drivetrain is coupled - driven from 2 motors in rear. -

Not shure if that is that part, but it seems, that it is some additional part to hub, not integral part of it. -

Most probably will get this because of all panels. Otherway, design also is pretty good, if not the best from all in this scale. -
