Lego Ideas 90th Anniversary Fan Vote
BrickJagger replied to Calanon's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I don't agree with this at all. Since then, Pirate and Castle Ideas projects have routinely reached the review stage, and they were two of the most popular themes in this poll out of a wide variety of options. In fact, the number of unique users who voted for Castle was nearly double that of any other theme. I doubt AFOL attitudes to Pirates or Castle have shifted much since 2013/15. That being said, I'm not sure why Lego is so hesitant to bring those themes back full time. -
Lego Ideas 90th Anniversary Fan Vote
BrickJagger replied to Calanon's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I was thinking the same thing. If I had to guess, we're going to end up competing with Bionicle in the last round, but we have to agree on three Castle subthemes that we all vote for in order to get there. I've ruled out Black Falcons and Crusaders (Lion Knights) because they're most likely coming this year, and I intend to vote for Wolfpack since we haven't gotten anything from them since the 90's. I'd like to hear from some people here before we cast our votes though. -
the green Dragon we never got? a 2010 Kingdoms speculation
BrickJagger replied to HappyAFOL's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Welcome to the boards! This is an interesting topic for your first post. We'll probably never know the answer but it's fun to speculate. Personally, I don't get why they went through the hassle of designing a similar, but inferior line in 2013 to replace Kingdoms. There was a brief moment when people thought Kingdoms was coming back instead of being replaced, which would have made more sense, and that red dragon could have been a green one just as easily. Given that he's a wizard, an old scroll referring to a modern army doesn't really work. There's even a baby dragon in the set -
Yes, it's a summer theme for next year. The good news is that there's clearly a dragon in the trailer, and given Lego's current slate of themes, I think there's a pretty low chance that it's going to be similar to Nexo Knights. The bad news is that after reading the description I highly doubt that it's a Castle theme, or at least a traditional one. Like you, I think the whole "parallel universe" bit is a huge red flag. If I had to guess I think we're dealing with some sort of high fantasy theme, maybe with some magic thrown in. The minifigures are the biggest wild card here.

Is it this? I've never seen this guy's videos before but he does have a sizable following. He's also claiming that it's called "Castle of Allatok", which was in the fake post on the last page, but he said that there are six sets, not eight. Apparently he posted the names in a private discord but I'm not paying for that. The name overlap is interesting because the original source has said that the retailers he talked to did not give him a specific name, and so far that name has only appeared in the fake post.

Lego is cracking down hard on leaks these days and I'd rather not put anyone in their line of fire. I didn't have anything to share other than that rumor.
-
That would usually be the smart money bet, but I have heard from several people that this is in fact a theme that is coming out next summer. I'm not sure what it is beyond that, but it's something.

Alright folks, I don't post much in here for fear of giving people false hope but the above image (that is absolutely gigantic) is a logo for a new land in Legoland Windsor. Sources have hinted that this could also tie in with a 2021 theme. If you'll notice, it's in the shape of a C, with our two favorite insignias, the lion and dragon. It looks a little modern, and I'm not saying it's a Castle theme, but it could be a Castle theme.

That's great news! According to Brickset, he helped design quite a few of the buildings from the Elves line. I'm looking forward to what he'll be able to do with a price point of around $150.

Lego Ideas Support Thread - Historical/Castle
BrickJagger replied to leafan's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
You're right, and I don't think it's likely that this becomes a set for that reason. However, it's good that sets like this and The Castle in the Forest are at least getting a shot at being approved, and the more castle themed projects we get to 10k, the more likely Lego is to relent and bring back the theme.- 532 replies

Haha, I'm hoping that's the case just as much as you are but I wouldn't read too much into it. Another one of the town square sets from awhile back had both a knight and a Futuron spaceman, but neither theme came back.- 532 replies

LEGO Hidden Side 2020
BrickJagger replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Hey now, Virus Vampire slander will not be tolerated I'd appreciate one more wave of Hidden Side similar to that, even if it's mediocre. If anything it might yield some decent sets or new figures. -
LEGO Hidden Side 2020
BrickJagger replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
To be fair, I don't think Customer Service is a reliable source for this. As far as I know they won't admit that a theme has been discontinued until every set from it is off the shelves. Between what Stonewars and FalconFan have been saying, I think that there's a fair bit of miscommunication going on. For example, in 2017 even Brickset was reported that Nexo Knights was being cancelled at the end of the year, but it got one last wave in spite of their reporting. It could be that HS has been cancelled prematurely, but since the next wave was so far along in production, we'll get something in January before it ends. -
Are "Big Bang Themes" a Bad Strategy?
BrickJagger replied to Lego David's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Ninjago is an overfunded art project at this stage. It's a sprawling mess of snakes, skeletons and convoluted lore that will culminate in a modern version of Bionicle's cult fanbase that Lego tries desperately to ignore. Ninjago has some interesting parts and whatnot, but if I wanted parts I'd buy them in bulk online rather than overpaying for a 45th "mech". Its siblings have become increasingly mangled and unholy ever since, to the point where the $200 gigunta warrior mongo monkey mech is now a thing and takes up half of a store shelf. If you're tired of that, you can opt for The Fortrex: Black and Purple Edition instead! Lego has also decided that it's no longer necessary to have generic characters. Big Bang themes started that trend but it's somehow made its way into... City? I don't know about anyone else, but I don't see a need for a Star Wars: Expanded Universe style backstory for Train Passenger #3. I don't think that it would kill them to pump out some generic knights and spacemen every once and a while. Would you rather have random figures, or a dozen Jacks and Parkers? -
LEGO Hidden Side 2020
BrickJagger replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Hey @Falconfan1414 , I remember that a few months ago you said that Hidden Side would be continuing into 2021. Do you know what changed? This theme lasted longer than I thought it would. Honestly it seemed like another one wave venture to coincide with Halloween, but we got a few bonus waves. This wasn't a Big Bang, it was under no obligation to continue, and yet it did. The concept was interesting, the set design ranged from great to awful, and it was largely a bit of a disjointed mess, but there's nothing wrong with that! My personal favorite was the graveyard, which has quite a few nice features and fits in well with my Halloween display. I wasn't a fan of the color wheel thing that they made stick out like a sore thumb in the later waves though. Overall it was a solid theme, I'm glad that they made it, and hopefully we get a good action theme to follow it up. -
They've been doing that for six or so years though. Kids have short attention spans

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately that would mean we've now lost thousands of images that were posted on MOCpages and linked to this forum. As EB gets older, all of those early hosting services will have died out, so maybe the Admins should look into a way to keep those images backed up or something. It would be a shame to lose every piece of media posted on this forum.

LEGO Monkie Kid 2020
BrickJagger replied to Classic_Spaceman's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Hate to say it because I'm a big supporter of original themes, but I hope it does too. The "mechs and bikes" thing is beyond played out and it's time to stop. This era of Lego is going to age horribly in the future because every single theme they put out now is Sci-Fi. Additionally, it looks like they used all of their resources perfecting Monkie Kid's designs, while they left some interns behind to slap together sets for the summer wave of Hidden Side. Now that we know they're capable of this much attention to detail and commitment to fleshing out a theme, I'm going to hold them to that standard in the future, but I'm pretty sure they're only doing this because they're desperate to finally break into the Chinese market. -

That certainly seems to be their strategy. AmeriJago is going to be an interesting theme when they get around to it. The Baseball Stadium-tank with hot dog cannons and a robotic Thomas Jefferson is going to be at the top of my wish list. -

Lego Ideas Support Thread - Historical/Castle
BrickJagger replied to leafan's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
A huge congratulations to The Mountain Windmill, which has reached 10,000 supporters and is headed to the review stage! The creator, hanwasyellowfirst, now has three (!) projects that have reached 10k. I believe that's a record! The first project got rejected, but his Windmill and Zelda project are both in the upcoming review. Lego would be pretty heartless to reject all three, and I doubt they would be willing to make a Zelda set from an Ideas project, so that should improve the Windmill's chances considerably- 532 replies
