Sorry Elander, you've mentioned the creator idea and I agree it is innovative but i just can't see it. Are the CREATOR sets even popular? I never seem to see much of them in stores or catalogues. seems to me that if it were an idea that TLG were considering then they would've already explored it for larger licenses. You could use that idea for SW and HP but they didn't so why do it for a far riskier venture like LOTR? And to Tedbeard, you cannot compare the rarely seen vehicles in LOTR to any other license, Elven canoes?? Corsairs ships which were barely seen and played very little part in anything, and Gandalfs cart? I'm sorry mate but they are weak sets if they are going up against an X-Wing, a Batmobile, a Hogwarts Express or even a Black Pearl. If you were a kid what would you buy?

I've got to get involved with some of these, some really good ones out there. I find it funny how some people get bent out of shape over the CW faces. They do look a bit rubbish i suppose.

Snowtroopers are awesome, General veers is good but the helemt needs a little changing.

I don't see why TLG would consider a UCS stye set for a line with zero sales history. The HP line had years and years of sales before getting Diagon Alley.

Sorry Lightning but that article doesn't mention the Hobbit in connection with LEGO. It only says it's one of their most anticipated films of the year. Can't wait to get my hands on some TDKR sets. i would love to see some sets representing Arkham City too, not sure I can see Harley Quinn being appreciated by toy buying parent though..............

To be fair unless you're a fan of the atlantis range I'm not surprised you haven't seen it. nice piece though.

Actually the main reason the SW is based largely around vehicles is because it's a boys toy and boys love cars, trains and planes. We've discussed this before and I mentioned then that even Batman is based largely around vehicles and the odd large playset. That is LEGO m.o

It would be strange if there were no sets based on TDKR, wouldn't make any sense to miss out on a boat like that from a marketing point of view.

That is a tasty treat! I did not exect any entries to be that good.

Was it not mentioned recently that CW will be 5 seasons and that's it? I think after that they wil continue the SW cartoons in maybe another period.

This seems familiar.............are they trying to arrange things to that the grey market is the only place you can get Batman Lego??

Rivendell would be awesome!

Just seen Padawan mennace for the first time with the kids last night and I gotta say that Jabba looks good on it. Hope they got to see an advanced preview of a new mould maybe!

Why dont we just lock the topic until there is a concrete annoncement, my head hurts...............and it's not just because i was drinking last night.

I would think they would need to gauge the POTC popularity over another wave or two at least before they do a direct to customer set.

I'd prefer a separate set for the Rancor with Luke, Gamorrean and Rancor keeper, that would free up more parts and figs for the actual palace.

Collectable Minifigures: Feeling the Packets
Vindice replied to Jedi master Brick's topic in Special LEGO Themes
That's shocking. I had a pack with some broken bits in it to be fair, that was probably down to overly aggressive fondling. -
Lets hope something is leaked by then so we can at least get some closure............ or openingsure???? What is the opposite of closure???
-
No need for apologies, it's what these forums are for and you make some good points. I'm just getting impatient!

Well isnt it standard that most themes including licenses come out at the same time? I thought that was the general pattern with most LEGO. I think Lucas has some considerable input with the SW range but that particular theme is treated very differently from all others because it's more a permanent fixture than almost any other theme. I don't think WB had much input with HP. Companies that generally partake in licensing or branding agreements have very little input once they have "leased" their name.

Perhaps a public petition is an idea for getting this issue more attention. i certainly understand why they price lego differently but i just think their calculations are skewed because they want to increase sells in North America so much. It's a bit of a lack of loyalty issue to European customers I think. It'd be nice to see TLG make an official statement on the matter stating some of their reasons for pricing the way they do.

Lego Minifigures biggest selling toy by value in UK
Vindice replied to Rumble Strike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
We don't know the particulars of the agreement with Hasbro. I suspect if it was the case that there was a bit of an issue then there may have even been some sort of gentlemens agreement at the request of Lucas's people. I can't see anyway that Hasbro could enforce this on TLG otherwise, certainly not legally anyway. there is already a massive crossover between the two and if Hasbro were to throw their toys (no pun intended) out of the pram there are plenty of other toymakers out there who would be happy to pick up the slack. I doubt it will happen soon but when the decision is taken, I'm quite confident it won't be with any thought for how it might offend Hasbro. -
very nice work indeed, love all the details on this one and great use of the Lizard man costume. Very imaginative.

Great build and I like the story behind it too. Nice job.
