2016 shaping up to be a wonderful year for adult LEGO fans ... Big Ben landmark set (LEGO Creator Expert) - it all makes sense now, remember that they just updated the box design of the Tower Bridge to fit the new Creator Expert logo? - Tower Bridge + Big Ben makes A LOT of sense! Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Emmi replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
75827 LEGO Ghostbusters Firehouse Headquarters in January 2016 to replace the annual modular building. Modular Building in April will replace the D2C The Simpsons set from the last two years - it doesn't look like we'll get another The Simpsons set in 2016. In July we'll get a new LEGO Creator Expert 'iconic' car. I can't wait to find out more about next years D2C sets, for me those are always the most exciting sets per year - along with the LEGO Technic flagship sets. -
No, it's not

I look at the LEGO Creator Expert Opera House and think ... man, this doesn't even have 3000 pieces and is massive in scale and as detailed as it can be, it's gorgous - now I think of over 4600 pieces the Ghostbusters HQ Firehouse will have - damn, this must be the most detailed, biggest, best and most amazing building/set LEGO has ever done. I'm so so excited! -
It's a "Special Edition" set and might be retail exclusive - I myself am clueless of what that could mean or if something like that has ever been the case before. But it's interesting though, normally 1H 2016 sets release in January, so there must be another 1H 2016 flagship if the helicopter releases in March? The box I've been told looks the same, classic Technic box, nothing special about it :)

No control center? Oh well ... Thank's for this very detailed description, can you describe the dragster in full detail? I've heard it features PF too but what could it be, also rear tyres being Tumbler tyres sounds amazing but what tyres are used for the front? Maybe you could also post close real life counterparts of the helicopter and the dragster, maybe even for the go-kart. Thanks!

I don't understand some people here complaining about this surely one-of-a-kind D2C set - is there anything better than a huge, expensive set??? I don't think so, I love this because it is likely to become 3rd biggest LEGO set to date and the building experience will be amazing I reckon. Also to put this on display will be a blast and to look at the interior, all the details and stuff - I don't want cheap sets, I buy the expensive LEGO sets because for AFOLs these are the best. LEGO Technic, Creator Expert, Architecture and D2C sets, that's what my most favorite LEGO themes are. -

It will sell very very very well. AFOLs are dreaming of expensive sets like these packed with thousands of bricks. Can't wait for the official unveil, if it doesn't include Ecto 1 I'll buy the Ideas set of it immediately. -
Thanks a lot CM4Sci for the descriptions, so it seems like we get 9 sets for 1H 2016 - a very big one (helicopter with PF), two big ones (dragster with PF, airport rescue vehicle), two mid-sized ones (Go-Kart, and 42049), two pull-back cars and two small ones. Great line-up for 1H but 2H 2016's line-up will be best in Technic history to date ... I suppose images might leak during next week, but we aren't far away from the official set unveils anyways, remember last year on September 30 the official set images got released by LEGO. An exciting time for LEGO fans.

Is it the full city or only the most iconic buildings of each?
