LEGO Star Wars 2021 Set Discussion - READ FIRST POST!!!
Bobbtom replied to MKJoshA's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Might be in the minority, but I would not have minded if the bad batch were spread out(like the knights of ren), if that meant we could have gotten sets like the AT-TE or v-wing. If you told me in 2013 and 2014 that it would be 2021 and we still wouldn't have remakes of regular versions of those vehicles, I would not have believed you. That being said, Lego's release plan with Clone wars season 7, the Mandalorian, and the bad batch is odd compared to their other media release tie-ins, perhaps due to the pandemic. Usually sets are released ahead of or at the same time as their media releases, but the clone wars season 7 2020 sets were released after the season aired and it was a very small wave. The 2021 clone wars wave was also small and while had good sets, had niche figures like gar saxon who hasn't appeared since clone wars, leading me to speculate that 2021's wave was meant to be part of 2020 but had to be split up due to pandemic production issues. The same could be said for the sole bad batch set, released at the end of the season. In fact, the shuttle was delayed one month in the US. The mandalorian wave seems to be the same despite the show's popularity, we had a small 2020 wave and the 2021 wave was about the show one year after it aired. This is not to say that lego doesnt make sets about media years after they air, but the initial wave concerning the media is usually a lot more substantial than one or two sets, especially if the media is hugely popular, like the mandalorian season 2 -

My hope is that promobricks is mistaken and the hoth "battle-pack" is just like an add-on for the UCS AT-AT at a premium price of $20 because it comes with some kind of UCS plaque and that we've yet to see battlepacks leaks, but this is unlikely Lego did 4 different mandalorian clans in one bp so it seems like anything really is on the table and often times unpredictable. The figures for some of the past battlepacks were a complete surprise to me. I'm now imagining a ridiculous scenario where we get a clone battle with with 4 named clones from 4 different legions. ie. fives, waxer, captain keeli, and commander bly. On the surface this seems crazy and random, but lego has done seemingly random clone figures before like the 7913 battlepack (2 bomb, 1 horn company, 1 ARF); They've also put 4 named characters in BP too. -

They could do a remake of the first battle pack and include 2 white clones, 1 shock and 1 star corps one, which would please many fans and be different enough from the 501st that it could warrant both existing at the same time. (should be noted that the two year mark for the 501st set is rapidly approaching) Also it's important to remember that lego does not consider the 501st set a battlepack. Another idea would be taking a page out of the mandalorian battlepack and making each clone a different color. I don't think any reasonable person is asking for 3-4 battlepacks of clones being out at the same time for the 2022 wave, but just 1 with maybe a remake of the 2007 battlepack would be muchly appreciated. Having multiple clone battle packs out at the same time, i.e. 212th, 41st, and genosis demonstrates that multiple clone sets will sell at the same time so long as the clones are different colors. Heck there's even been multiple times where we had more than one FO battlepack being sold at the same time. 75132 and 75166 were very similar -

Well seems like on here people are okay with lego gouging an extra 33% ($5) for the battlepack. It's the opposite on reddit. I'm against this $5 increase but am going to wait for a picture in order to have a more concrete opinion. -

I'll wait for pictures before having a final opinion on the price increase, but the preliminary info doesn't look like it justifies the price with 100 pieces, especially since the increase far outpaces inflation Having snowtroopers as a battlepack is awesome since they're cool soldiers, but I hope we get more battlepacks with clones or stormtrooper variants. While the aftermarket prices for snowtroopers have and still remain reasonable, the prices for clones and other stormtroopers are astronomical at the moment. -

there's no reason not to put 4 rare named characters in a $20 or $25 set instead of placing them in a BP and wasting the opportunity for army builder figures -
Very cool! Which minifigure is the The Duchess hair piece from? and how did you make Paladin Duke Erasmus the Black?
-
Whining and moaning? Are we really going to insult others in this fourm? People like a theme and when they fell like their theme, especially if they really like it, is unsatisfactory, they will complain. You make it sound like they are a bunch of drug-addicts on withdraw.

... I'm baffled honestly. I'll quote another user "Please, not this again. Noone said that it wasn't; we all realize that LEGO is first and foremost a kids' toy that we're all collecting. Not I, nor anyone else here for that matter, neither demand nor expect LEGO to change their target group from kids to adults. So please don't go there." and you "Please don't start this stuff here." Besides the fact that many of us already feel that LOTR did not sell that well for whatever reason, one can wish that lego made gondor and elven soldiers WITHOUT thinking that they know more than lego and blah blah blah whatever insults you want to throw.
-
I see all these new molds for lego 2017 and I can't help but be annoyed at how not a single gondor soldier helmet or elven helmet was made.......

edit* nvm

Anyone know when the second half of the star wars wave such as the carbon freezing chamber set, is going to be released in the US?
-
You could buy an actual wooden marble maze that costs less than what lego will charge.

Which is Your Favorite Orc Minifigure from the LotR/Hobbit?
Bobbtom replied to Deathleech's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
For me, the Uruk hai are the best only because lego did not make any armored orcs for any other faction. I am extremely disappointed that all the mordor orcs are pitmasters while all the gundabad orcs are light troops.- 23 replies

If they do make Gondor soldiers, I hope they don't use the one from the lego game. The gondor soldier really needs lego shoulder and/or leg armor pieces to look good.
-
Chima's ending early compared to Ninjago, so maybe not that many kids like silly looking things like Ninjago.
-
Imagine if they released a Gondor Soldier or Witch King in one of the $15 "fun packs" $15 For a piece of plastic!!! Most expensive minifig on release yet.
-
Care to take some pictures of these? The build a minifig changes so often, I'd like to know if they have good selections before I drive all the way to the lego store.
-
A set like that would have appealed to many fans young or old. I think lego realized this after their LOTR line, which is why we have a giant elephant for the Chima line. It's a shame really, a toy like that would have made many kids excited and would have certainly kept the line going and allow lego to make sets that would have made AFOLs happy. (i.e. Arwen, Witchking, etc.)

Your work is really good, especially for a first MoC. I'm starting to think of making a fort like this myself. What resources did you use or recommend for starting out on mocs like this one?
-
I've searched the line already, but none of them come in that torso with red arms. Are the red arms in photos customized with other arms?
-
Sorry for taking your thread, but I don't want to flood the fourm with two similar posts. Does anyone know where the torso for gamling is from? https://farm9.staticflickr.com/8075/8327581799_71c03ee71d.jpg

Where's the helmet on the wraith that's next to the witch king and on the large stairs?
-
If WB wanted Smaug to be red then I'm fine with that, but why the third wave? Why wait until now? It makes no sense. Smaug is in the movie for 15 minutes. He should of at least been in the second wave, which was named, "The Desolation of Smaug"

I do hope future Castle sets are like the fantasy ones from 2008. As an AFOL, I'm not interested in sets that are too strange or unrealistic for a castle theme, but the fantasy line in 2008 was amazing. The troll battle wheel has no use in my MOCs, but looks very cool. I had to have it in my collection when it came out. If we were to get another wave like 2013, I''ll have to pass. The line was too boring.
