Luke_likes_Lego replied to Werlu Ulcur's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Welcome to the world of LEGO trains.....I hope your future builds bring you and your family as much fun as this one (maybe without the battery case frustration ) Cheers, LLL -

Sorry that I'm not contributing to the tech usefulness of this thread, but..... I just wanted to compliment Annie on the first picture.....it's topical and attractive with the addition of the mini-doll, cat, toolbox etc., but serves its purpose to show the gears and setup. LLL

Glad it's the hospital...not the bank!! (hope this isn't too off topic, but it's so....so.... " ".....I thought it would be interesting to post). http://www.thesun.co...es-outrage.html LLL

Well since you ask....(she's just 5 btw...was 4 when this thread started!!) Q. "...what aspects of the 'any' of the CITY hospitals appeal or don't appeal to your daughter. " A. Definitely staff....doctors, nurses and patients. Building and vehicles would be bordering on irrelevant for her. Q. "How would she build one? " Lot's of pink and white !! Q. "Would she emphasize the heli pad, or perhaps moreso the Gift Shop for visitors to buy items of comfort for being in the hospital? " Beds, wards and theatres! Doctors, nurses and patients ...maybe a few medicine bottles LLL

Hmmmmm......... Got it! If it's cooked on the outside, but still quite pink in the middle, it's rare Yeah, and zombie from the series 1 minifigs.....not rare (by volume in the world) but hard to come by at a nice price ! At least there'll be alternative zombies thanks to monster fighters. It's not really a black and white question when rarity/expense are considered together I guess...my thoughts.... Rare = expensive ...often Expensive = rare ... often Not rare = expensive ...sometimes Not expensive = rare ... rarely Expensive = Not rare ...occasionally Rare = Not expensive ... hardly ever Not rare = not expensive ...mostly Not expensive = not rare ...mostly LLL

G'Day from an Aussie in England
Luke_likes_Lego replied to indigobox's topic in Hello! My name is...
Nice one, One thing I try to do, if I'm getting old sets back to full inventory...and the same would work for building from scratch.....is to try to think ahead to what sets you would complete next.....so you've got at least two or three wanted lists on the go. That way... you're not saying "...okay, I just finished Cafè Corner and spent $100 on postage across seven suppliers.....now I'll do Market St....and....Arrgh !%#^%....I'm going to have to fork out for postage again!!" Cheers, LLL -
In a broad sense, the market sets the price. Lego would be likely to set their prices to maximise profit. Unlike other segments of the toy market, it would seem fair to say that consumers are less prepared to buy construction bricks from anyone but LEGO. As a result when the "max profit retail price" is set - it is a high one. If this means their toys won't sell in some markets, this is unfortunate - but I'm not really sure what the alternative could be. If the prices were cheaper in those markets, consumers worldwide would quickly soak them up anyway and that market would still largely still miss out LLL

Firstly. if you're talking about collectible minifigs, this can be a trap sometimes... Eg. collectible minifigs are catalogued as a set (eg "Bunny Suit Guy - Complete Set")", and within the set - the assembled minifig is also catalogued with the familiar name (eg "Bride", "Bunny Suit Guy").....anyone could easily make the mistake of buying the minifig only if they see the latter name first.....only to realise - devastatingly - later the base the carrot the flowers the shield etc. weren't included - through no fault of the seller. Occasionally, sellers add a warning to the description which is handy. Anyway, back to your question - ......two ways: (if it's indeed related to collectible minifigs) make sure it definitely says "complete set" (you can even check the inventory to make sure it's what you expect); or check inventories in the catalogue and just buy all the parts individually (then check your cart shows all you expect) Cheers, LLL
