Wow, very nice! Love the exterior detail. The color scheme is unusual but works very well. The brickbuilt "HAT" sign reminds me of my very first modular MOC, which also was a Hat Shop, built in the vein of the Pet Shop. It had a sign that said "HATS" over the front window, also built in white and bright red and using pretty much exactly the same building technique. The topic is still around here, but the pics aren't online anymore.

Thanks for this report! Sounds like quite the trip you got treated to! ...I pass right by the Porsche museum by train every day on my way to work (literally, there's a train station right behind it, and the side of the museum facing the station has some windows to workshops in the basement where you can often see old cars that are being restored). But oddly enough, I've never visited it (yet).

Looks very nice, but somehow I wonder how this even got that far - not that it's undeserved, but it already states in the text that it has about 4500 pieces, and Lego Ideas rules specify that submissions should have 3000 pieces maximum, or they will be rejected.

Oh wow! I love old churches, and this is a great rendition in Lego form!

Nicely detailed shop! You managed to realize a lot of details in a small space!

Whoa, cool. To be honest, if someone had shown those to me I wouldn't have thought twice about them and assumed them to be production parts... at least the striped ones and the ones with the buttons & monitor. But all of them had actually been printed on yellow for Blacktron.

Very well done! MOst Lego renditions of real buildings don'tw rok for me, but this looks great!

Amazing! Great detailing, great, unusual colors, and npu throughout!

Great work, especiall the interior! Love the "thick rug" impression created by the sideways build!

Very cool, and npu with the wings!

Very nice! Reminiscent of the older style Creator houses. Wish Lego was still doing sets in this vein!

Very nice! One of the best mods I've seen so far. Love the outdoor area. I don't mind that the right haf uses a slightly different architectural style. It evokes the thought of it being added later on. -
Nice, looks great!

I usually watch out for Creator house sets on sale...and often, I manage to combine a sale with a coupon and save even more. I also sometimes check ebay for used copies of current modular buildings when they've been around for a while. For example, I obtained two copies of Pet Shop at about three quarters of the original price, which meant a PPP ratio of about 0,05€ per part. A great deal, I think.

At least for me, it's got nothing to do with the architectural style. Actually I'm thinking about doing a building in that general style, only in dark red (the dutch cities I've been to actually mostly had buildings with exposed bricks in varying red and brown colors) But with MS, there's just too many things that don't work for me...the stacked windows on the first floor, the full-scale windows for the supposed basement, the total absence of windows on the back, the random grey bricks thrown in everywhere (I get what the designer was trying to do, I just don't like it, especially in conjunction with the medium blue)...and last, not least, the utterly pointless "market" half of the build. So, to put it short, if I was to build one, I'd end up modding it so much it'd almost be a MOC anyway. Pretty much the only detail I really like are the curved stairs to the entrance.

Nice idea, I remember and have quite a lot of those printed pieces. Propably should do something with them
-
I was literally just going to make that comment, using that exact word. There are some nice custom takes on it, though, I actually kinda liked the Paris Steampunk version posted here and on flickr a while back. But the original building just feels like a sub-par MOC to me.

Doesn't necessarily mean they are officially packed by Lego. I've had Bricklink orderswhere the seller reused (carefully opened) bags from sets and re-heatsealed them. This is what I would speculate for these bags aswell, especially as the leftover bit of plastic 'above' the heat seal seems to be alot larger than I know it from official Lego sets, or online PAB.
-
Same here. The only time I couldn't find a piece, I found it stuck in the corner of one of the bags.

Help with identifying parts/sets!
ReplicaOfLife replied to WhiteFang's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Thanks for the tip! I actually had tried finding a match using brickset, but had only tried the LDD part number (55668), which yields no result on brickset. Searching for the parts name didn't occur to me -

HI, I'm looking for confirmation on the Bricklink ID of a LDD part. LDD Name is #55668 OUTER CABLE 64MM, VIRTUEL. Closest thing I found in BL is https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=75c08#T=C Is that the same part? I want to make sure as I already ordered the wrong one once (got a hose which is to thick to fit into clips). Looks like this: -
Easily the 6399 Airport Shuttle...Not so much to use as an Airport Shuttle, just as a means of transport around the twon I had as a kid. I tried to build something similar using pieces from the Futuron Monorail that I had, but never gota satisfying result. But I also would've loved to have one of the big Airport sets from the early 90ies.
-
Some nice sets in there, but it looks like you'd be best advised to disassemble it all for a cleansing trip through the washing machine. The light gray and white parts might benefit from a de-yellowing aswell, though I'm no expert on that

I plan the entire MOC in LDD, then get the parts needed. Obviously this requires a lot of attention not to use a part in a nonexisting or extremely rare colour, so usually I have a browser with BrickLink open to check up if necessary. I also sometimes build small prototypes (in whatever colors are on hand) to make sure snotty stuff works out, or to check for structural integrity. For example, my next modular will involve a very unique building technique for the facade. Since I wasn't sure it would even work at all, I built roughly half of the front of one floor. It all worked out, and the hands on model even gave me some ideas to both simplify the build and make it even stronger
