The faction Icons are pretty sweet, but I agree with the point of having the Era I distinction.

I'm looking for someone with the SDCC BrickHeadz
Umbra-Manis replied to legolijntje's topic in LEGO Licensed
@legolijntje You might want to try contacting the Mecabricks user Stas. I believe he did most of the SDCC decorations in Mecabricks' library, and I think everyone on the decoration team works in vector graphics. -
Nice work, you definitely captured the shape well, and it looks pretty sleek in dark red!

The thing is, that LDRAW sucks for rendering. It's really, really, really bad. The only good renders I've ever seen out of LDRAW models come from @Renderbricks and @BEAVeR, both of who have spent hundreds if not thousands of hours building up complex workflows. As someone who can't stand presenting a screenshot or crappy render as a finished model, I have to go with the programs that lets me make good renders easily. POV-Ray renders of LDraw suck, LDD2POVRay produces better results (But is slow and old) Bluerender also beats out most LDraw renders. What really seals it is that LDD can be imported into Mecabricks and immediately exported to blender for easy production of some of the best fanmade Lego renders. LDraw simply has nothing close in terms of ease to quality, so it stays Mecabricks and LDD for me.

Lego Licensed Parts available from Bricks & Pieces
Umbra-Manis replied to LegoPercyJ's topic in LEGO Licensed
Was just on B&P today, and the new sweater print from the old fishing store is now available! (at least in the US) -
I just went through a similar situation thanks to Harvey, although the water only peaked at a foot inside our house. (So you got a lot worse in that respect) In terms of what got wet, I lost most of my instructions because their container got submerged and about half of the sorted containers stored on the floor got flooded. (Those got cleaned up pretty quick though) Thankfully my displays were all above the water.

I'm liking the changes so far and am eager to try it out!

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Umbra-Manis replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
@NiceMarmot I forget what al-Esterbrooke did, personally, but the Algus were invaders from the Far North that Spread across Mitgardia and into the other guilds. It took them a while to spread throughout Mitgardia (I believe Ecc told that story) and then we had a contest where they moved beyond Mitgardia. The Algus ended up losing (Everyone was fighting them, so of course they did ) and I believe they've been driven pretty far North in Mitgardia if not completely out of the Guild. -
For Darkhawk i'd use just a plain trans. red tile instead of the printed one and maybe this helmet: https://www.bricklink.com/v2/catalog/catalogitem.page?P=11265pb03&idColor=11#T=S&C=11&O={"color":11}

First 2017 LEGO Ideas Review - Guessing Game
Umbra-Manis replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I agree that they are pretty close (At least in the helmets, those would probably have to be printed visors of some size (Standard or the extra large) on the standard minifig space helmet) except for the armor pieces which are pretty much impossible to be close to any existing pieces. In my opinion that should have resulted in the project being archived shortly after submission and the creator asked to present an actually feasible rendition. It's not a good reason to reject the project since they let it go this far, but on principle it shouldn't have gotten here in the first place.- 47 replies

First 2017 LEGO Ideas Review - Guessing Game
Umbra-Manis replied to Digger of Bricks's topic in General LEGO Discussion
'Twould be better if we could select more than one option. I voted Tron, as it seems to be simple project that they could squeeze into production along with the two big ones they just approved. As for power rangers that project should have been deleted for breaking the no new parts rule a long time ago.- 47 replies
