  1. Passengers, with 'our own' Chris Pratt. Apparently, he spends three months without wearing paaaants!!
  2. In 1994, the UK Lego catalogue listed a stand-alone ambulance in the 'Fire' line (there were no other hospital sets at the time, except in the education only range). Around the same time, I once saw an ambulance stationed at my local fire station (but only once). My local fire station has at least five bays, but I've never seen all of them occupied. Given the huge increase in the scale of Lego products since the 70s, a three Bay fire station today would probably be prohibitively expensive. Mind you, I have always wondered why there was no space to add Lego's stand-alone fire vehicles (though I think some past fire stations have featured an empty space where another vehicle could fit). Interesting. I have seen pictures of yellow and white fire engines, but do any users know where such vehicles are in service? As the buildings, I have long noticed the tradition of making buildings look like an extension of the vehicles. This is because Lego is a children's toy, and children are most likely to associate the uniform look of the services with the vehicles. Making them look like no real buildings may also enable them to sell better internationally (I believe that more than 90% of Lego is sold outside Denmark). The modular range fire station looked more realistic, but it was aimed at adults.
  3. Lego is a toy. All you can say is that it's your toy. Would that allow me to play a form of LCU within Dimensions on PS3?
  4. Everything is awesome!!
  5. What's so meh about ice hockey, a hot food stand, and a remote 'copter? This is far better than, at least, my 2014 calendar. And who needs another uniformed crook?
  6. The Martian An excellent addition to the recent line of what I call 'spacesuit movies', without the Hollywood quick fix or the overdone bleakness of much 'hard sf.' Benny would have loved it, particularly a scene with a very Lego style open sided spaceship. The best movie I've seen in theaters this year, after the disappointment of Jurassic World.
  7. I have pre-emptively bought Benny fun pack, even though l don't yet have a suitable console! I have decided to buy a pre owned ps3. A question, would an early 60GB console do, or would I need a bigger hard disc.
  8. 200 - 300 mph, I think! On a real 'coaster, the weight and friction would keep the speed down to legal levels. I would like to see it from the other side, and maybe some detail close ups. For instance, I cannot find the second shuttle crash site mentioned in the origonal thread.
  9. Questions; why are both victims faceless? And what does the fleshie figure represent?
  10. Great models, all of you. I particularly like the Peterbuilt, with its narrow cab and accessible engine. What parts were used for its hood hinge? Also, where is the thread for the sports car?
  11. This would be a great theme for a real 'coaster. Has anyone ever seen anything like it!? THE ride for space lovers. Great idea, greater build!
  12. Wow, this is better than the first wave, itself my favourite new theme of 2015. While Lego struggled with European speedsters, they always seem at home with American style vehicles. And a rally car in the City range! Lego racing is back!! The only way they could go better would be to give all the cars opening 'hoods.'
  13. I recently had my first ever blu-ray night with my parents. The film was Apollo 13, already my favorite space movie, and the best way to remember James Horner. The last film I watched, however, was Space Camp. This story of juveniles blasted into space was overshadowed on release by the Challenger disaster, and has been unfairly panned since, IMO. It is loaded with technical errors, but in every other way it was better than I remembered it. It was one the first live action movies I saw on tv, and seeing it on a 'vanilla edition' dvd, in 4/3, on a large black tv brought back my childhood. Pure 1980something!
  14. Why was this moved from the 'Town' forum?
  15. Good review, but one mistake: you stated that the programme was on bbc4. It was in fact on Channel 4, which is unrelated to the bbc.
  16. Are the AFOLs in it on this forum, by any chance?
  17. Now here's a first. Many people have erroneously called the Ford Explorers 'Jeeps.' But Dennis was driving an actual Jeep when he died. In the book, he is actually killed by a 10 foot tall adult (it is said to have crests, but frills are not mentioned). It blinds him with venom, disembowels him, then picks up by the head in its jaws. If the details are not excruciating enough, the entire scene is described from Dennis' point of view! Well, with Jurassic World out tomorrow, I'm sure there will be many more gruesome deaths for our entertainment. The new sets might even be popular with that curious breed of brickfilm makers who like to add disgusting special effects with plasticine! In other news, my Lego Stego has acquired some real bite marks in its tail after someone mistook it for a Chocosaurus!
  18. That's alot of v6 engines! A question, though; why does the pilot have to be a crook?
  19. Interesting use of quill for hair but, where are her paaaaants!?
  20. Big question about Mad Max; how come he drives a supercharged car when petrol is running out? In Britain, where I live, petrol is taxed, and anything with more than four cylinders is a luxury.
  21. Been away for a while, rediscovering my passion for photography. Apart from the first image, these images were taken on 'filmstock.' First, a couple of 'found' images which I didn't deliberately set up. Emmett falls into Lucy's arms (literally, I set up the figures facing each other!). Unikitty, friend to all! And a couple of set up images. 'Ice cream wars' against the clone brand imposter! Double decker romance!
  22. I am surprised by the prices for the vehicles. Still, if anyone wants to build Lego towns in this scale today, I would recommend vehicles and figures from the model railway trade. By the way, Legohistorian, do you have any idea how these photographs were taken? Kodakchrome? Medium or large format? Lighting? Because I cannot recreate that look! These images have more impact on me than modern images.
  23. The Tanfield railway, which proclaims itself to be the world's oldest railway, is hosting its brick show this weekend as I write. For details, follow this link.http://www.tanfield-railway.co.uk/brickshow.php
  24. What is a bro-tractor truck? Edit: Sorry, didn't see the last post. Thanks! I would still love to know where the name comes from, though. When I googled it, I only got real tractors, and this post! Great mod, perhaps a step closer to a monster truck than TLG's last effort!
  25. Sorry for the late reply, but this is a good miniature toy. Looks like a futuristic sport truck. It is certainly smaller than the classic basic pull back I know of. Can you recall the set numbers for your miniature motor?
