  1. A really beautiful house! I feel it fits perfectly - it has an airy sort of feel you see in the tropics. The curtains stand out as a great detail for me, as well as the staircase and roof. Like Bregir I find the idea of Stormhaven all being built on slits over mangroves very appealing. I love the idea of interconnecting board walks and you execute them really well. Speaking of executing I love the dialogue between Jack and the Olean Officer! Surely they had it coming demanding a gift.... especially given the founders well known feelings for Olean! I have ordered some mangrove parts and when I get a chance I shall also give this style a go!
  2. Carolina was exactly what I was thinking when I suggested Alicentia..... So far: Alicentia: 4 Mooreland: 1 Lacryma: 3
  3. Oh, sorry SilentWolf, I missed Mooreland. 4 - Lacryma / Skarletta / Mooreland 9 - Alicentia / Rosetta / Zephyria Hmmm, Mooreland does seem more 'Corrish' than Lacryma - which seems somehow more... Olean? I'm tempted to change my vote for 4 - except again Mooreland doesn't seem quite right, can anyone think of a way we can better incorporate Moore into a place name... Moorelandia, Mooreton (more for a settlement), actually that's quite a good settlement name..... General Sir Charles Moore was killed leading a valiant rearguard action that allowed the main Corlander Army to escape the overwhelming Olean invasion force during the Juniper War. there is that awful sound again.......
  4. Oh that is a great looking desk - and pineapple plant! Hope Sir James and Elena have a safe trip across to Quinnsville.
  5. That is a lovely looking build. King's Harbour is lucky to have contracted such a talented company for this project. I especially like your vegetation. The palm tree with the lime green leaves and brown flexi-pipe is simple and looks great. I will be using this design! However, the smaller plant with the stems protruding from the 'travis' brick is what really caught my eye - that looks brilliant! Well done!
  6. The landscape is simple but looks very effective. Whilst the trees do look good, (although the bright green is indeed very bright!) I agree with Elostirion that the trunks seem a little on the thin side when compared to the cut lumber.
  7. The vegetation is indeed very well done, the leaves sticking up are very effective. "Why do you have a shark on your leg?" - lol!
  8. Thank you Gideon for the detailed WIP shots! I really appreciate these kind of pictures as it allows us less experienced builders a chance to see how these epic type builds all come together and shows how you got some of the details to work.
  9. Ok so we seem to have some general consensus here: 4 - Lacryma (nickname: The weeping isle - I agree with Fuzzy, Weeping Island is too depressing for an actual name - but we could use it as a nickname) 9 - Something derived from Alice. I don't like the sound of Aliceland or Alice Isle. How about Alicentia ?(BTW Alice, Dutchess of Juniper is the much loved Queen's Mother and widow of the late King Arlin II - Just a thought for some back story!) So if there are no more suggestions and we are all in agreement, here are my proposals for voting: 4 - Lacryma / Skarletta 9 - Alicentia / Rosetta / Zephyria I cast my votes for Lacryma and Alicentia.
  10. Very funny story for a not so funny result! Hope you have better luck next time!
  11. A really cool scene and great presentation! As mentioned the minifig poses are superb!
  12. Sign me up for the new threads please Ska. Brilliant - I like these! We could always go with "New Juniper" So far we have: Island 4: Skarletta, Lacryma, Mooreland, Island 9: Rosetta, Zephyria, Aliceland/Island,
  13. Fellow Corries, Now that Montoya has made our claims public, should we begin the discussion as to naming our newest possessions? I believe we had Skarletta (I admit I prefer the look of 'Scarletta' - but it kind of negates the purpose of the name - what do you guys think?) and Rosetta left over from last challenge. Does anyone have anymore suggestions? Oh we also have: I like Ska's last suggestion, it seems to be how most colonial possessions were named IRL or how about: Woodbrose, (for the current Minister for the Colonies), (the following are all made up) Victoria -the Queen's cousin, the Dutchess of somewhere, Moore/Craufurd/Wellesley - all Corrington Generals/heroes? Anyway just some thoughts....
  14. Very nice, especially the Kopi Lewak part. I had actually toyed with the idea myself! Perhaps it's best not to let Captain Cooke know how the beans are prepared....?
  15. Impressive plantation. I wondered how you'd do the sugar cane. The irrigation has to me my favourite part and the plough is also very clever. Also I like the 'slightly hastily (read lazily) edited' shot, the overview it gives lets you appreciate the full scale and details you put in. Good to see a Serentia build!
  16. Indeed that turtle is very cool!
  17. Simply breath-taking. While I don't really have anything new to add that hasn't already been said, I just needed to comment to show my appreciation of this work! It is a truly royal looking palace and should achieve your goal of giving impressive first impressions for Olean!
  18. Some nice forced perspective here. As I said in Kwatchi's thread I love how you guys are acting like real pirates - it makes for a great story!
  19. Great story and MRCA built. Politics aside I like how you guys are actually being dastardly pirates - to me it really adds to the overall story - well done and keep it up!
  20. Very nice. I like the clever use of the upside down plates as bases for the SNOT plants - that is a technique I will be storing away for later use! I agree with Elostirion, although that is only my personal preference! Maybe sea rats should get a bonus yield for narcotics?!?
  21. This is exactly how I interpret the guidelines, and I agree with Captain Dee above regarding scale. I feel a bit bad because my comment originally spawned this discussion. Just to be clear, my point was simply to point out that the plot sizes for plantations were different than those for properties. I was not implying that Puvel should downsize his license and I certainly didn't count his studs! (oh that doesn't sound right !!) In fact I explicitly state that I think with the obvious effort shown in his MOC that it could go either way in my opinion (and that is just my opinion). I called them guidelines above because I see them as just that. Guidelines. If someone sticks a few stalks on a 16x16 baseplate and claims it's large, then someone else probably needs to point out that isn't quite in the spirit of the game. But I don't think this has happened yet so it isn't really an issue! I think with this and some other matters recently we all just need to step back, breath and realise this is just a game we all play for fun. I don't think we need to define the rules any more than they are now, I think they were deliberately designed 'loosely' to allow the creativity different interpretations allow. Anyway rant over - back to enjoying the recent builds before having to go to work! Yay for Friday!
  22. I missed this one too! - 'The Doctor' and his companions Miss Donna and Clara - where is Amy??
  23. Beautiful? pig farm! Seriously I really like this. The building is lovely, it has a simple, clean style that I quite admire (and will be striving to replicate at some stage!) The farm itself is great as well, with lots of details. A great addition to King's Harbour. I too believe farms to be plantations, my plantation in Arlinsport was more a farm. Only thing is I believe small plantations have a recommended plot size of 32x32, I think medium were 64x64?. Not that it matters at all, with the obvious effort you've put into this one!
  24. Oh that reminds me Bregir, the Cocoa plantation has been licensed as a small plantation
  25. Great story, well executed with pictures - I really enjoyed this duel and it was good to see an amicable resolution! LOL! Classic! Love this shot!
