[COR - TROOP] Arrival At Elizabethville
Ayrlego replied to evancelt's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Great immersive shot evancelt! As Mesabi said, the nod to previous Elizabethville builds and characters was a thoughtful addition that really helps build the BoBS world! Very nice troop raising build and I am looking forward to seeing the finished building you've used as background in this shot (I love the incorporation of classic yellow - something I've never felt I've been able to successfully achieve!).- 9 replies

Great combat scene Khorne - my favourite shot has to be the Naval infantryman about to throw the grenade. I really like the lamp post outside as well (faved on Flickr to steal borrow sometime!)

[OKT-Artisan] Inside the Fest Tent
Ayrlego replied to CapOnBOBS's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Some great classic minifigs used here and together with the old school flowers this has a nice classic feel. The atmosphere of a crowed beer tent is captured well. Nice Oktoberfest entry and welcome to BoBS! PS. If you are licensing this it should be an artisan - not commerce. Something I had trouble getting my head around when I first started as well, but taverns and bars are artisan properties, not commerce. -
[GOC-FB-COR] The Quinnsville University Library
Ayrlego replied to Mesabi's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The extra details really brought this to life Mesabi - it looks great! The façade itself turned out well, I think the offset definitely helped, but also the additional details such as the SNOT tiles, lanterns and crests. The thing that really stands out here compared to some of your previous work is the attention to detail across the whole build. The ground outside is a nice mixture of tiles and plates and the gardens add enough green to help the build 'pop'! The inside may be a little sparse, but I think it works well to tell the story and the statue with the scratched out 'O' was hilarious! Again, the all round attention to detail really propels this to a higher level. Keep up the good work.- 12 replies

Nice work! I see you incorporated Bregir's suggestion for a ramrod in the off hand of the knelling rank. Personally I think the bars are a little too thick for ramrods. I don't have a realistic solution though... I have tried this piece as modelled by the soldier with the white epaulettes below. But it's probably a little short.

Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion, Era II
Ayrlego replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
@LM71Blackbird By Order of her Royal Majesty, Queen Annetta, Sovereign of Corrington, Balondia, and Her Majesty's Colonies, Major Nathaniel Brickford of the Royal Marines is hereby ordained into the Order of the Compass Rose. Sir Nathaniel is hereby dubbed "Knight of the Order of the Compass Rose", and henceforth commands the honours thereto connected. Her Majesty recognises the momentous effort Sir Nathaniel has made in the expansion of Quinnsville and the exploration of the southern New Haven Sea area including the establishment of the Corlander settlement of Brickford Landing. His actions against the Lotii on El Oleonda are also commendable. Dated on this the 14th day of October, 620 years after the fall of the Great Empire. -
Nice house Elos, I especially appreciate how difficult getting those roofs to work out would have been. Great road technique as well.

Settlement: Hojaroja, Otoño, Eslandola
Ayrlego replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
A Post Office for Hojaroja licensed as a medium commerce for @The Neighborhood Merchant. -
The sleepy Eslandolan settlement of Hojaroja only contains a handful of settlers, but like all Madricians in the New World, they like to keep in touch with loved ones back home or across other settlements. For such a reason, a post master has recently been appointed to service the settlement. The Eslandolan postal service not only sends and receives mail and newspapers from across the brick seas, it also can act as a bank in the absence of any formal banking in the settlement by arranging letters of credit to be sent and received. The post masters wears his official uniform, and is proud to serve the people on this beautiful island. Usually he likes to deliver mail on foot, but he does keep a horse for more distant deliveries. A build for @The Neighborhood Merchant as a partial down-payment for his Class 7 HMS Legion. I will license as a medium commerce on his account. I love building for Otoño (although I've never really been much of a fan of the settlement name ) and have contributed two builds in the past after the Nova Malto faux pas. I do love a good autumn scene!!!! Hope you enjoy as well.

[OKT-COR] Free Beer from the Seawolf Shipping Company
Ayrlego replied to Brickwolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Either that or the artist partook in a little too much free beer!!!! Nice little pub Brickwolf, the tudor is very classic (castle) style and I think works well with the classic theme of this year's Oktoberfest. -
[BTV1-TER] Raising the Westface Militia
Ayrlego replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Thanks all! I started making the yellow coat torsos with sticky paper, but these new ones are just printed on plain paper and attached to the torso with a glue stick. For such a simple solution, it works surprisingly well I think. Lol, yeah I realised it was Chris Pratt only after I finished the scene. I have a limited number of fleshies (compared to my yellow collection) so when I picked hair for that particular face, it just happened to be the hair TLG designed to go with it!! The redhaired wife was just coincidence as I wanted to use the new HP Ginny CMF as the daughter. I did think of that when I typed out the story! But they were more a nod towards the American militia units in the war of independence. I totally cheated - Blu-tack! -
[COR Intro] Recalled South to Belson
Ayrlego replied to evancelt's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I really enjoy a good autumn scene! I don't think I've seen regular orange used as a ground colour before but it looks great here. In addition there are lots of great little details in this introduction and that is an impressive collection of redcoats. The brown epaulettes are an interesting addition and not one I believe we have seen before on redcoats. I'll have to add them to the compendium! Welcome again to BoBS and Corrington.- 8 replies

After the recent pirate attack on Stormhaven, Colonel Sir Dirk Allcock has been temporary transferred to the Sea of Thieves by Brigadier Howe to oversee the build up of Corlander defences in the region. To begin with, he plans to tour all the Corlander settlements in the region and make an assessment of their defences. His first stop is one he used to be quite familiar with; Mooreton Bay. During his inspection, he takes time to observe a newly arrived company of line infantry conducting live fire drills just outside the settlement. Standard Corrie doctrine has the infantry form a line two ranks deep, with the front rank kneeling to allow the rear rank a clear line of fire. Behind the line, Sergeants armed with spontoons keep order while Officers direct fire and order manoeuvres. Bayonets can be fixed to create an impenetrable line of sharpened steel. Colonel Allcock is pleased with these troops. They are well trained and disciplined and are adjusting well to life in the colonies. A troop raising build for Mooreton Bay.

The Second Terraversan War - Submissions Thread
Ayrlego replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
A build supporting Terraversa. -
The outskirts of Westface are dotted with small holdings and villages which give way to larger plantations the further south one travels. In these rural and semi-rural hamlets, Terraversans have led largely peaceful lives since the hard won independence of a few years previously. Many of the veterans of that conflict have settled the fertile area where they and their families work the land. Now; with the unprovoked and unjust invasion of Terraversa by the forces of Oleon, the peaceful lives these families led has once again been shattered. Authorities in Westface have urgently called for the Militia to be raised, a call largely unnecessary as most of those in the area are outraged by the invasion and had already began preparations to resist. The militia; a mixture of hardened veterans of the War of Independence and younger new comers, take pride in their motley mixture of uniforms. As that conflict was against Mardier, these hoary old veterans scorn the trend of the regular units and newer militiamen to wear yellow, once the colour of the enemy. Instead, most wear their old homespun jackets in dull and neutral colours from the first conflict. Nicknamed the ‘Brown Coats’ you won’t find these men fighting in neat lines and marching with perfect timing. Expert marksmen with years of experience in the local environment, they will resist the vile invaders with the same ferocity they demonstrated overthrowing Marderian tyranny. In this scene; so typical on the outskirts of Westface these days, a veteran militiaman says goodbye to his wife and daughter. His daughter hands him his tricorne, which she has decorated with a white swan feather for good luck. It is a poignant moment and she fervently entreats the Gods to return her father to her safely. Meanwhile, the company officer (who coincidently is the militiaman’s brother-in-law) waits with other militiamen and Atwi allies. He has another eight farmsteads to visit today, before proceeding into Westface for further orders. An overview of the whole scene: Well... it seems poor little Terraversa is not getting much support; while builds supporting Oleon just keep coming! So I thought I'd lend my hand to the poor oppressed Terraversans! Will anyone else join me in supporting the underdog in this fight???!
-
I had meant to comment on this build much sooner. I really like the colour palette you've used. The lime green base looks fantastic! Great little tree house as well. Nice work!
-
those accounts are in the negative (have spent more DBs than they have earned) and require action to bring them to balance again.
-
The July 2020 has been finalised with the addition of the MRCA results. A number of accounts are quite seriously in the red. If this applies to you, you may want to correct this before your ship crews/troops start deserting you through lack of pay!! Or alternatively Uncle (@Kai NRG) shows up to hang you from the nearest palm tree.
-
Like many others have already commented, this scene is really well done. The minifig positioning is perfect and that is a really lovely brick built cannon. The dark red really works for me in making the scene stand out. Maybe a little more debris scattered around the base of the building might have sold the ruins aspect a little more... but that's a very minor critique and it certainly doesn't detract from the scene. Great work. The Teraversans better lift their game if they are going to have a chance of influencing the outcome of this battle!!

Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion, Era II
Ayrlego replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Welcome again @evancelt! That's a very cool intro build. I like the autumn feel and the mixture of old and new redcoat parts. Here is a list of all the settlements in BoBS. The Corrington part is up-to-date. Any settlement would be fine. Port Woodhouse has a military focus and a very specific style. King's Harbour, Quinnsville and Port Raleigh are good larger sized settlements and strategic locations. If you like a smaller, more North American style landscape and horses Elizabethville might be a good choice. -
Corrington: Sign-up and Discussion, Era II
Ayrlego replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Corrish recruitment agencies that consist exclusively of Sea Rat players. In future I'd ask that other players limit their greetings to a friendly hello and let whichever faction the prospective player is interested handle the rest. I am not sure what happened above as it seems the posts have all been edited. So going forward: @arealhuman A guide for new players can be found here. Limitations on Bricks shouldn't prevent you from playing, we have a lot of players with limited collections and like you say, Bricklink is your friend (although not always your bank account's friend ). Good luck and if you have any questions, please let me know. -

Terraversan Letters of Marque - The Second Terraversan War
Ayrlego replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Yes. As above a bounty of 200DB will be paid to any Captain that sinks or captures an Olean vessel while sailing under a Terraversan letter of marque. EDIT: I realised that you specified a TER vessel. These are TER letter's of marque so no, you definitely won't paid for sinking TER vessels. Oleon are free to issue their own LoM if they so desire but any bounty you'd have to take up with them.
