Did you forget Captain Hook's, hook? Never mind, I see it. It just sort of looks like a sword in the pic. -
Nexo Knights 2016
Captain Pirate Man replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
One is a female ogre\Cyclops. Not super relevant, but I did throw her in one of my dungeons, lol. I have the king from the New cmf line, he is pretty cool. One day he shall have a castle to rule over, but until that day he remains locked up in my 70404 dungeon,.. -
Lego video reviewer Jangbricks hits 300,000 YouTube subscibers
Captain Pirate Man replied to Faefrost's topic in Community
I like his reviews, but The Brick Show is by far my favorite. Brick Queen gets my 2nd place vote, with Jang being my 3rd fav. -
I wish you would have simplified it by line as opposed to faction. I say that because I just assembled a 2013 castle (the castle and 4 gate house raids, so its not really a moc) that dwarves any other official castle release. But yet it's tied up with Leo who has all that kk2 stuff I don't like. This poll just seems overly complicated imo. But having said that, 84-92 is by far the best line
-
I might catch Hell for this, but the linked review echoed my decision. I went with the enlighten black seas baricuda over this New official lego ship. I know that is sacrilege to many of you, but I paid 65 bucks for it to be delivered to my door, plus it is almost identical to the bsb, which is clearly a better ship than this one. Also, and I can't stress this enough, but enlighten products are actually pretty good. By far the best out of the knockoff brands, even better than megablocks imo. Even though I chose to support the enemy over the official lego products, I don't feel bad in that decision, especially when I look at the mountains of official hobbit, lotr, and castle sets I do own. But again, I'll take a bsb clone over this New ship any day of the week.
-
What other hobbit, lotr, and castles sets do you own? I'm just making conversation
-
When I get my Dragon mountain set (sometime this week), I will do a size comparison of the two dragons. But even without doing them, I'm pretty sure smaug is taller and quite a bit longer.
-
I would hardly call the lonely mountain "tiny". If you say it is over priced, I will agree with you, but it is by no means a small set. The fact that it is an inside as opposed to an outside set plays a role also. Obviously it isn't a castle or a fortress. But as far as a throne room type of set, I don't think Lego has ever produced a finer set. I just seem to hear a lot of negativity towards that set, and I'm here to say its a pretty awesome set. Sure a $100 price would have been more acceptable, but if you are going to let 30 extra bucks keep you from this set, that is a mistake imo. As for "mocing" smaug, I'm not sure that is possible. I could be wrong, but I would love to see if it is even possible. Can someone here create a smaug without using and smaug pieces, just regular Dragon parts? Remember his hands are in his wings, unlike all of legos other dragons. Plus his wings are completely different than all other dragons wings as well.
-
I bet smaug becomes a real collecter piece down the road though. He is already going for $50-60 on brick links. Imagine him in 20 years? Definatly worth the extra 30 bucks when you think about it like that. But I say that as someone that has that set.

Very good.

2015 LEGO Pirates Rumors and Discussion
Captain Pirate Man replied to Yawgmoth's topic in LEGO Pirates
I saw the complete line in tru yesterday, even bought 70411. I live in Michigan, USA. -
So Lego is making the large grey 48x48 base plate, green 32x32 and tan 32x32. Are their any others? Also do any actual sets come with base plates anymore? Or are they essentially a thing of the past? If they are not making them forvsets anymore, you should be able to buy them in any color at any store. I don't understand the thinking sometimes???

LEGO's greatest risks in the future
Captain Pirate Man replied to TheLegGodt's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I can speak on this, I have spent every penny of my disposable income on legos over the past year. So yes as many of you reach your breaking point, someone new comes along, and I'm sure I'm raising future afols as well. Which I will reach my saturation point as well, but I'm only currently about 30 to 40% there. I still want a few more older castle and pirate sets, plus I need to up my overall brick collection. I just don't have enough bricks yet. The problem is space in your home, you need to have adequate space in order to really go build more than one world. That's why I pretty much decided to mix castle and pirates into One world, and just give my castle guys muskets and cannons. I'm making a red vs blue world essentially. I basically decided to give up on any sort of Lego city. Space in my house was a major reason, along with the fact it's so expensive to build proper skyscrapers (and I think the archetecht line sucks). But originally I wanted a pirate world, a castle world, and a city world. But I soon realized (due to the space requirements) that was just not plausible. So I basically have decided forget about any city type sets (even though many of them are beautiful, especially the city block type sets). I'm sure many of you have run into similar scenarios. -
Thanks man, I can't wait to build it. I am also adding the large 48x48 grey base plate with two 32x32 green base plates. As for the gate house sets, they are just so cheap right now (if you can find them in stores), that I just couldn't help myself. This thread really served its purpose, many of you helped lead me in the proper direction. I'm sure kings castle siege is a great castle, but once I'm done with 70404, I think it will be the superior castle.
-
I will. I went a head and stooped by tru and got a 4th gatehouse, because they were the last store I found with them (after the 2 I bought, they still had one more.) 3 just seemed uneven to me. I'm going to put one on the front, One on the back, and one on each side. I'm going to use the kings tower as a keep in the center. I have some other mods planned as well, which will bringing either monday or Tuesday when it arrives.
-
Well finally got our tax return today, so I officially got 70404 ordered. Its been a long wait, but can't wait til it arrives. I also bought a 3rd gatehouse raid at toys r us, so when the castle arrives I plan on just modding it to fit my plans. Super excited to all the additions coming into my Lego world!!!!

We are a Marvel household, just the way it is.... I like Batman, especially the Arkham video games, but I'm pretty much the only one. Not to start a Marvel vs Dc debate, because both have strong female characters, but once you get passed DC's big 5 or so, then the well starts running a little dry. While Marvel might not have as big of names to the general public, they have far more 2nd tier strong females. My daughter knows the Marvel encyclopedia cover to cover, so she knows they have a lot of kick butt girls. Psylocke is her personal favorite. Which Lego will probably never release a minifig of her, but with the avengers 2 coming that means black widow will get a lot of attention. But back to your point, I still stand by what I said before because at the end of the day it's still the "batman" line. He is the main character, the girls you mentioned are just secondary characters. Where with the avengers, all of the avengers are main characters, black widow included. That's a huge difference. Also with the hobbit, that whole world is very engaging, to both sexes, so of course the girls are going to relate to Galadrial and Tauriel. I'm sure Batman has his share of female fans, I'm not saying he does not. But if it was a justice league line as opposed to just batman, then I think it could attracted more girls, because as I said before, "Batman" himself is clearly geared more towards boys.

Thanks Artanis, you pretty much echoed my exact thoughts. That is why I have decided on 70404. Not that I don't love what the other one offers, because I do, but the fact that I already have the rest of the 2013 line does play a role. Actually I let fate decide my choice. I went to Wal-Mart this past week and I said to myself "if they still have a gate house raid in clearance, then fate has chosen which castle I should get." Because the last time I was there, which was a few weeks ago, they only had 2 left. So when I saw the last remaining gate house raid, I knew which choice I needed to make. I also figured that with the 2 gate house raid sets added to 70404, with some other modding, it could be a really nice castle. So yes 70404 will be my first Lego castle, excluding wolf pack and forestmen sets I got as a child, besides those were not really castles anyways. I am really adding a lot to my Lego collection with our tax return money, which is exciting, but only one castle for now. But I will still consider a 2nd castle probably next Christmas. So that decision will hinge between buying 7094 or building my own 6080 with parts from bricklinks. So any thoughts you might have on that front I'd appreciate. The Lego world I am creating is basically a blue vs red world, they are the main governments if you will. That includes at sea with red and blue ships. But of course other factions also exist like many individual pirate ships and the Dragon knights which are basically just plain "evil". I just decided to go for a midevil and pirate themed world that coexist. But as I said before all blues and all reds are on there given sides, so 70404 serves as the castle for the king of the blues. I don't yet have a castle for the reds obviously, but I modded my own port royal where the red governor commands, so he is in charge of the reds for now. Yup also that's my Lego world....

I agree with the kazi minifigs, I put them all in (weapons included) in a tub never to be used again, they really have no redeeming qualities. Sluban minifigs are just about as bad as well....

Nexo Knights 2016
Captain Pirate Man replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Thanks for this. How much money is saved if you were to build a castle vs just buying the set? The 2nd kings castle (the grey one) for example? -

If I could get my hands on the instructions I would do it that way. But even the instructions to this set seem to be going for over 30 bucks. He'll I can just buy another gatehouse raid for less than that. Too bad it isn't easier to get copies of these old instructions, that would really help in the "build your own" department.
