Marvel Superheroes 2019 - Rumours, Speculation & Discussion

That'd be good. I presume it might come with more Venomized characters so it could be worth it for the figures at least. I'm guessing Gwenom, and probably Venomized Spidey unless we get more sets with this particular subtheme.l Ideally the build would be decent too but we shall see. This type of subtheme has a lot of potential, though I've said the same thing about LEGO Marvel in the past. -

Most definitely! It's one that I really wanted but didn't think would happen, especially with the leg printing. I will always prefer his digigrade mechanical legs but I understand why they eventually changed them. The only thing I wish this figure had was a custom build for the lightsaber hilt but I'll probably come up with something. Anyone have an elegant solution to achieve the curved bit that extends out on one of the emitters? I'm still hoping we someday get a longer lightsaber hilt for double-bladed lightsabers. -

I HAVE to have that Maul figure! I haven't ever bought one of the minifig encyclopedias but this is finally a figure worth buying it for. -

The Iron-Venom figure looks great but I'm worried the set it comes in is going to suck. They haven't exactly impressed me with LEGO Marvel sets in awhile. -

Even most of the new designs in the movies barely even get a glimpse of screen time which doesn't help at all and certainly hurts the sets those things are based on likely helping to deter LEGO from selecting new designs for the basis of sets. Even if the Resistance X-Wing didn't show up in the film, it would still sell really well because it's still an X-Wing. On the other hand the Quadjumper and FO Snowspeeder got blink-and-you'll-miss-it appearances in TFA and the FO AT-HS got cut from TLJ completely. I'd love to see that one show up in ROS somehow just because it's such a bizarre design and would increase the appeal of the set. -

Bo Katan is her name and I too am glad we are getting a mix of male and female Mandalorians in the bp. It's nice to have some variety. Sadly the Fetts are not Mandalorians for some stupid reason(George Lucas never gave us one other than to say they're not despite their skill, naming scheme and overall appearance saying otherwise). I choose to believe the Fetts are an excommunicated Mando clan but that's just me. I'm veering off topic. I definitely like the variety that we're getting in this pack and it will certainly be great for army building Mandalorian clans. It's just a shame none of them come with jetpacks. Well, it looks like I better add some to my bricklink order along with proper blaster replacements... -

The Mando bp looks great, if not a tad bit disappointing only in that I had really hoped the blue Mando would be Paz Viszla with heavy armor, a jet pack and heavy weapon. I had also hoped we would get the Armorer. I still would love to get the Beskar forge in a set. Still. fantastic looking bp I'll just need to do some modding to make the blue one Paz Viszla and obviously replace all the stud shooters. -

I'm personally hoping the build is the Beskar forge with the figures being the Mandolorian in full Beskar, the Heavy Mandolorian, the Armorer, and another random Mandolorian. I'm very glad to hear we'll be getting more Mandolorian sets. The Razor Crest is a must. It's also nice to hear we will be getting more RoS sets as I fully expect to get the last 2 Knights of Ren. I'm still really bummed we haven't even gotten 1 set based on Fallen Order. Hopefully that changes. Could the "amazing first" be dual-molded arms/legs? I don't recall that ever happening for Lego Star Wars outside a 1 or 2 rare examples. -

You're right I take it all back, it's absolute perfection now, LEGO R2 a hundred years! I just gotta say, the more I look at the TIE Dagger the more I love its design. The wings and cockpit remind me so much of Old Republic era Sith designs and I'm sure that was intentional. On the LEGO model there's just something so satisfying about how they made perfect triangles using existing plates along with that very useful new pointed wedge plate. I love the red edge to the wings owing to the blade look. Also the inside of the wings look just as good as the outside and the cockpit is perfectly smooth and rounded on the bottom. Overall the shaping is really nice though the back does look a little off since the quarter dome pieces are affixed using both standard and SNOT techniques. Also, can we talk about how they finally gave a TIE Fighter green blast pieces? -

How the hell do the Marvel sets continue to get worse and worse? These are absolutely horendous and the figures aren't even very enticing. They're not even trying with the builds. I'll withold some judgment on the sets based on the game until the game comes out but on their own they look awful. The mechs are ridiculous and the Spider-man sets are some of the worst they've ever done. I'm really disappointed. The only good thing about this wave is that not getting any of them allows me to redirect my LEGO budget solely to Star Wars this year especially since those sets keep getting more expensive. Really, really poor showing from LEGO Marvel. It's heartbreaking to see how far they've fallen since the glorious wave that gave us the Ghost Rider set, the bridge battle and the Doc Ock mech-- at least in terms of non-MCU sets that is. -

I mean they make perfect sense for the sets they come in. I just think the mold is looong overdue for an update. Give us a third leg or rotating head or back printing, SOMETHING. I mean just imagine the usefulness of a 2x2 rounded turntable! Or the possibilities of a stud-to-axle connector short enough to connect a cheese slope to the bottom of the R2 body piece. I digress. I was really hoping they would give that Knight of Ren the Urak-hai sword so I'm very glad they did. I like the build for the weapon on the checkerboard-helmet KoR, though I think it is a bit too short and could have done with another piece or 2 to extend its length a bit but really that's a nitpick. It's interesting that he also comes with a blaster since we have yet to see him with one in any of the current promo material, at least as far as I'm aware. I do really hope we get the remaining KoR next year in a later wave as we are now missing the blaster KoR and the arm cannon KoR. Surely we will be getting more RoS sets next year that contain spoiler-y stuff that they could be added into. -

I LOVE the TIE Dagger!!! Wow, that looks so good! I'm not a huge fan of X-Wings but I really like this new one especially with they new engine cowl pieces and the updated shaping overall. I'm glad to see more Knights of Ren getting figures but there are still more. The Sith Trooper bp is an absolute must have! Excellent figures there. The Tatooine sets and microfighters are an easy pass and I'm disappointed by the Mustafar duel. It'll be an easy pass. Overall I'm just really, really happy with the RoS this wave. Hopefully we get pics of the Mandalorian bp soon, I'm sure it'll be a must have for me too. -

At the very least I'd want to see a small set with Cal, BD-1 and the Second Sister. Best case scenario we get the Stinger Mantis with the characters I just mentioned plus Cere, Greez, and a Purge Trooper. I'd also ideally want to throw in Saw Gerrera but that might just be greedy lol. -

Of the leaks so far only the TIE Dagger and Mustafar duel really draws my interest. I think it's safe to assume we'll end up getting the TIE Whisper too which I'd have to have as well. I do hope we also get the Razor Crest. I was disappointed we did not get a set based on Jedi Fallen Order but I suppose there's always a chance next year, however slim. -

Honestly my biggest problem with the Yoda was and still is how blocky(ya I get it it's LEGO blah, blah) and stud-covered it is. It doesn't feel like a proper modern LEGO design and it really stands out agaisnt the smooth modern design of the head hands and feet. It's jarring. The robes should have been made with tiles and curved pieces to give it proper shape and smoothness. It really just doesn't look good imho. The head, hands, feet and lightsaber do look great though but it's really ruined by the robes. -

Hmm, I suppose we are getting more of those sets than I realised but we could still stand to see more, especially some comic-based ones. I would really like to get some yellow-suited AIM grunts for example. -

Toa Palpo replied to Anonknee Muss's topic in LEGO Licensed
Since LEGO has shown they have no issue with making bps with named individual characters like the bounty hunter bp and battlefront 2 bp, I really wish they would at least consider marketing Marvel bps. Include one or 2 named characters and some enemy grunts with a little side build and they'd fly off the shelves. Bps have proven incredibly popular and there is certainly demand for army building in the superhero genre. Keep some characters or variants exclusive to bigger sets if you want but there are HUNDREDS of Marvel characters and suit variants that would make interesting and desirable figures that are likely to never be made. If a cmf is out of the question for legal reasons, why are they not taking advantage of the bp model for more than just Star Wars? It's not like they haven't made Marvel sets in the past that could qualify as a bp. The ultron drone set that came out for AoU and the recent Captain America bike for Endgame are practically bps. -

WOW there's so much to talk about! I love the A-Wing, love Kylo Ren's shuttle, love the rusted AT-ST, really like the Y-Wing and I don't usually like Y-Wings, the Falcon is the best system-scale set yet and the desert skiff set is good though It's odd that it only has Rey in it for the heroes. Also, is that a Stormtrooper on a tread bike!? Did somebody at Lucasfilm see a Ninjago set and say "put it in Star Wars!" I kid, I actually dig it. The Death Star set does nithing for me though it is nice to see the bew hood piece in another color and the Yoda set is borderline creepy and is of no interest to me. Overall, killer wave. Waaaay better than TFA and on par with TLJ imho. -

Hopefully the red lines on the helmet show up better irl and other pictures but that looks like what I expected. I don't think that was the best hairpiece for the Allegiant General though, it makes him look too much like Tarkin and Richard E Grant doesn't have a widow's peak like that. -

Wow, all of those leaked figures so far look incredible! Already far beyond anything we got for tfa or tlj. Wow, those look awesome! The Knights of Ren look incredible, Zorri's helmet looks great and the Jumptrooper is a pleasant surprise! I also love the teal astromech! -

It surprises me the Grindlewald Escape set didn't do well, it's a great little set. The stagecoach is a nice build, the new Thestral looks fantastic(no pun intended) and it's pretty cheap. Heck if I see it on that much of a discount I might pick another one up just for the Threstral and parts. -

I like the look of the landspeeder but $30!?! No way. That's a $20 set max. Also, I'm surprised it doesn't include R2 considering the rocky outcropping kinda looks like the spot where he was ambushed by Jawas. -
Wow, that looks so much better!

Well it's definitely the best landspeeder yet even if it isn't that exciting. The best part of old Ben's hut is the new Leia hologram but there isn't a lot to get excited about though it's definitely nice to get yet another iconic "exiled old Jedi hut" set in the $30 range. Man, there sure are a lot of those in Star Wars I'd say Luke's is still the best looking of the 3.
