I've seen painted Shapeways stuff, and the material is so pourous you have to really glob it on to even halfway obscure the texture. Which means you'd have to sand contact areas. You can get it in a special, smoother finish but it's also very fragile and wouldn't work for parts that clip on like this. (and it's still not the perfect finish)

That's pretty weak, given that 2015 was cool enough to include both the element coloured masks and gold masks with each Toa, specifically so you got the "full package" without needing the Protectors.

I kinda hope they're not real, because no new masks for the Toa sounds really weak.

I'll entertain the rumours for the sake of conversation, but I'm not making any expectations. I'll pretend they're real, but not believe they're real.

If only Shapeways wasn't so primitive. :< The grainy texture kills the usefulness for these to fit in with Lego.

I missed this update, so it was helpful for me. :3I'm liking the return of names on packages/listings.

They look good, but a bit... overdone? They seem complicated just to be complicated, rather than as a side effect of incresed size or streamlining the designs. And I surprisingly find the lack of grabby-grabby mandibles to really alter the character of the headsculpts.

I think they're all excellent! I like Takadox the best, my only comment is that I wouldn't have used CCBS hands, as I was always under the impression that their melee weaposn were part of their bodies, but that's just my interpretation.

I'm not being rude or hostile. I'm agreeing with you. You didn't offend me, quite opposite, I thought I was the only person here who didn't like the animation quality. No, I did. Because I think they are. But as I explained, as cheap as they are, I know and understand why they went with cheap animation. I just wish they hadn't. I don't like the approach they used, and I do wish to share your opinion on this matter, though.I haven't been here very long, but is it normal for folks to take completely candid, face-value comments and totally misinterpret them? Was I so matter-of-fact that my statements were truely misread as sarcasm? :I

I'm not saying it doesn't make sense, I'm just saying it is what it is. I wish it had better animation, it should have better animation, but I know and understand exactly why it doesn't have better animation. My comment was in response to someone trying to excuse the obvious shortcut of taking a two-dimension image and merely skewing it to look at an angle as part of "the style." Which it isn't.

I changed my Lewa's axes into bigass swords using two of these in silver to connect the katana to the top of the axe heads, then plugging the axes straight into his hands. (after I swapped them with Gali's for more colour consistency for both) Then I added very simple connectors to the stalks holding his shoulder spikes so they can mount on his back as wings. Yeah, the animations are so primitive, hiding behind the excuse of "style" despite the style not having anything to do with the actual quality. Shortcuts like that and the stilted movement really bug me when with just a tad more effort (or skill) you could have the same style with vastly superior animation. Nah, it's pretty obviously just shoddy animation. The whole thing is super cheap. Like, money-cheap. Lego didn't pay for better quality animation. I'm sure it's the best the animators did on their time and budget, but they should've had more of both.

Yeah, if the Mahri had spent more time underwater, which I always thought they did until I went back and read that it was a pretty shortlived adventure, I feel like it would've held more weight. (then again the sense of urgency would've been lost so maybe not?)

That doesn't make sense at all.Logically speaking if those negatives don't apply neither do any positives, since I have no idea what a G2 Bohrok would be like at all because it doesn't exist. My point was simply that a G2 Bohrok would not be anything like a G1 Bohrok, so using them as a basis for assumption is flawed. Then you completely changed it into something more than it was. It doesn't sound like anything, because G2 Bohrok don't exist. All I know is that they wouldn't be carbon copies of the originals if they did. So why did you respond well after my last post on the subject specifically to continue the discussion? Also, this is not a Schrodinger's Cat senario, because a G2 Bohrok doesn't actually exist yet. If it existed but we'd never seen it, that'd be closer, but it still wouldn't be, because someone would have, likely whomever designed it. You're applying quantum physics to cheap plastic toys.

Reading this next to your avatar was pretty damn funny. On-topic: I think Bohrok are a good example of a snapping gimmick done well. Compared to Skull Scorpion, the Bohrok's gimmick is more streamlined and intricate, wheras Scorpio suffers massively from it's tail's technic tumour. So much going on, so much sacrificed, all for such a simple movement.

I love Lewa's Keetorange. He's got a pretty sweet colourscheme. The lack of real monochromality in the new Toa is quite appealing to me.

[Review] 5002942 Bionicle Villain pack
One Very Agile Cat replied to Tremah's topic in LEGO Action Figures
What if you attached the bottom piece of the stand upsidedown? Then you wouldn't have the visible white backing. -
What theoretical positives? I gave no theoretical positives, or indeed my opinion on G2 Bohrok at all. They roll better than any other Bionicle set.

I think he's trying to say that Bohrok in the new building system wouldn't be exactly as the old ones, so your negatives don't apply to new Bohrok. Also, the Bohrok could totally roll down a hill or across carpet. You have to actually toss them or roll them yourself, they don't move on their own.

Maybe that's why they need new masks? Because Ekimu knows they'll have to give up their current ones?

I would lose my mind over mask packs. God, remember when we actually liked packs of nothing but redecoed parts we already owned? I hate that I never collected the Mata Masks back then.

I wish we'd get hi-res versions of those photos. Hopefully Lego puts them on the Bionicle site once we're done.

My only real 2016 want is at least one big villain for Bionicle. Makuta or an upgraded Kulta or whatever, just a big bad guy. I am for this.

That's planning ahead!
