  1. I like the animation. Reminds me of Telltales' game series. I think the backgrounds are a little plain but it's overall colourful and expressive without needing silly looking faces on the masks. Probably because it is. Lego has made it very clear they don't really care about Bionicle. It's just another property owned by an unfeeling, impartial corperate giant. This is not Bionicle G1 where there was an actual sense of devotion by people involved. I'm surprised they sprung for a show of any kind. Would you prefer set-inaccurate CGI?
  2. I have a hard time believing a Tamashii stage can hold a Toa when it can barely hold a Figuart. Gundams aren't usually advertised for use with Tamashii stages, they're advertised with Action bases, which use a sturdy support design that could easily hold a Toa if you can find a way to attach it. (and yes, Action Bases come in clear, too)
  3. I'm the same way. Umarak is down pat, but I'm just gonna let the Toa drizzle in. I mean I'm going to mod them all so they'll be better sets, but I feel like the more I want to mod something the less I want it immediately, you know?
  4. Funny you say that, the 15 Kopaka thigh/16 Kopaka arm shell is one of my favourites. I just like how square it is. It seems weird to say I have a favourite piece but I always find myself using those before a lot of standard shells. (thus, I'm always out of them) I've actually never bought CCBS parts from Bricklink, only technic. I've just always had everything CCBS I need, but between the overhauls of Bionicle villains and the upgrades to the Toa I'm fresh out of anything not lime green. So again, faster you can get those inventories updated the sooner I can shovel money at you, Lego. :3
  5. Heh, I tried brick and pieces and yeah, couldn't find any of the new parts. I have no problem waiting, though. Getting just the parts I want is far easier than buying five or six Kylo Rens. I certainly hope the inventories are updated once the buying feature is reinstated.
  6. Umarak's hand also has tendrils of energy on it that the rest of him doesn't, so I'd say it's a safe bet he's being forced to wear the mask.
  7. I wish pick-a-brick didn't stink so I could order these new torsos and gearbox covers.
  8. Looks to me like Tahu's simply using the door "control."
  9. Yeah, like look at Umarak: his chain link is just a picture of it on a square. Pretty sure these use in-game models.Which makes me wonder, Tahu and Lewa flew there.... did Pohatu (and everyone else) swim? Is that why he's faceplanted?
  10. Got Umarak as a gift today, may be one of my favourite Bionicle sets ever. He's just so cool. He's better in person than in pics, and he looks great in pics.
  11. This is awesome, I can't wait to get my Kulta so I can make a revamp like this. I think yours is one of the better ones I've seen that keep the same look as the original. I didn't even notice the gunmetal skull masks in the shoulders until my third take. Clever!
  12. Because they're big round buttcheeks on a robot. It's just amusing is all.
  13. I think this looks great. I don't think the sides are lacking at all, the technic greebles give the idea of complex mechanics under the armour. The proportions are fantastic, and that mask is really, really cleanly painted. Hats off to your friends' skill.
  14. Ha! The butt's really funny. I really like those weapons. Simple but unique. I wish those axe head parts were more readily available in CCBS itself.
  15. I like Umarak the Destroyer, since it really looks like the Mask of Control mutated him and, ironically, lost control. Typical "power corrupts" shtick. Ekimu's alright. The beasts don't really get any sort of reaction from me.
  16. I really like your changes. I hope you show the rest if/when you do them!
  17. The arms wouldn't look as short if, as MakutaDreadscythe pointed out, the arms weren't placed so high on the builds. That's the real issue with the smaller Toa.
  18. The torso shell isn't actually very long, it's actually the new torso "bone" that's a few studs longer than the typical one found last year. I'm also not rushing out the door for the new sets. I think it's because I plan to heavily modify many of them, and I always get the sets I mod the most last. (hence why I still haven't finished the skull villains)
  19. I think the three browns is alright if they're balanced properly. I wouldn't mind a shift back to normal brown, though.
  20. Yeah, I really love the return to actual browns and Earth tones. I still firmly believe there's a good set waiting to be set free in Pohatu with just the right amount of... encouragement.
  21. There's definitely a lot of parts not in the skull villain sets, most notably the staff handle.
  22. Seems like Barnes & Noble is the place to go. A few reports of people finding these there. Too bad there's none even close to me. :(
  23. "School of academia." For real, man?So does Harvard offer a class on Bionicle CCBS shell design? Pretty sure this falls more under art, and you know what they say: art is subjective. You know what the funny thing is? I haven't been back in this thread since I last posted, and haven't really given a good look to the new torso piece since. It's actually less complicated than I remembered. Like it's detailed for sure, but I really think people are making it out to be way more complex than it is. This isn't even as intricate as, like, a Piraka torso. And again, I think it works because the pistons and details only show up where implied articulation would be, with the chest and stomach still have smooth armour plates. The detail tells a story of the piece's function. Try a lot pretentious. That's not what "pretenious" means. I feel like you just saw that word written above and then tried to use it as an insult even though it doesn't work. Agreed. Excellent point. And to add a addendum: this statement shouldn't be taken as somehow meaning we shouldn't still discuss things. Differing opinions is fine, but relentlessly shutting down every viewpoint to the contrary is not discussion. Nor is trying to pass off your viewpoint of aesthetics as somehow infallible because of some subjective basis. Except it's not "true" because it's totally subjective if it's even a problem at all. Agreed. Maybe the Toa Mahri were lacking as far as parts went, but the design ideas were all great ones. The Barraki, Titans, oof, that was a great year.2008 was when things fell apart. The new Toa are also twice the size of the Metru. Also, the Metru had a lot of pistons, but they also had a lot of ridges and lines on them. Though I agree they're not really comparable, since the Metru are very... I don't know how to describe them, artficial? Mechanical yes, but they had this really industrial metropolitan aesthetic to them. The new Toa are much more diverse in their aesthetics and have more typical warrior design cues. I think his point was the number of pistons is irrelevant.
  24. I totally agree about the mask size. I'll take this over Onua being a pinhead. I also really love these colours.
  25. Just making conversation, guys. I mean, it's Lego, I was just thinking of ways people could change it if they wanted to but whatever. Literally just thinking out loud is all. I even mentioned that I feel bad for those who don't want to have to do this but I guess I didn't say it clear enough.
