Power Functions Project
veryrusty replied to aminnich's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Another option, assuming you are maximizing your torque is more motors. Drive every wheel you have. 4 motors and two battery boxes will improve your power to weight ratio. -
I'm with 5imon. For me it is all about emotion. And that comes down to subject and size. I remember staring at the ads in the back of the instruction books and wishing that my parents were richer. For me the 8480 was the ultimate flagship. This was in my dark ages. When I found out it existed I went from nothing to desire in seconds. I mean who doesn't want a spaceship. So I got one. I didn't care if it was old 9v and that the lights didn't work. It is still awesome. In that vein I would say other recent flagship to have are 8070 and 8043. I would also include the Ferrari racers. If a small boy or girl will climb a shelf to try and play with it, then it's a successful flagship.

I think it really is a case that TLG isn't really worried about the after market. Like the red panels on the 42029, something that was rare became very common. If you are going to make several hundred thousand, then the investment in a new part is probably worth the testing. Like all new ideas, some of them don't work out. Like the new worm gear.

Really, you only need one motor, a v8 combined with an xl motor. I like the car, but it needs less power, said no one ever.

Ok, so here are some new photo's. I'm sure I'll get better with lighting and things, but at least I think these are much improved. I've looked at some others, and there are some really professional lego photographers out there. Technic Sets/MOCs without Tires
veryrusty replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Animals. Most of them don't have wheels. I for one would like to see a technic cat. -
Lego Expertise ... way beyond Plastic Molding
veryrusty replied to DrJB's topic in General LEGO Discussion
For me it has to be the precision in the manufacturing. You can buy all the injection molding machines you want, but it takes a certain attitude to say that the billionth thing you make will have the same measurements as the thousandth. -
18. Dune Buggy My entry for the TC5 contest is a dune buggy. Looking at it again, it does look like it might actually fit in better to a toy story theme, with a pair of goggly eyes. Discussion thread is here: http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=102683 It is built from 42021 and 42022 for a combined total of exactly 600 parts. Features Transversely mounted V6 engine Front and rear suspension HoG and steering wheel steering Pictures IMG_2156 by veryrusty82, on Flickr IMG_2154 by veryrusty82, on Flickr IMG_2152 by veryrusty82, on Flickr IMG_2151 by veryrusty82, on Flickr IMG_2153 by veryrusty82, on Flickr Leftover bits Far too many Tc5 contest by veryrusty82, on Flickr

So this is my MOC for the TC5 contest. It is only my second ever MOC, so I wanted to do this mainly for the experience. To make it more interesting, I added a few more rules for myself: - I must use two different sets, not just one. - The two sets should have a different colour - I must make something that was not similar to one of the original models. e.g. I couldn't make another motorbike from a motorbike model. So I combined 42021 (snowmobile) and 42022 (hotrod) into a dune buggy. Total part count is exactly 600. Features are: Transversely mounted v6 engine. Front and rear suspension Steering wheel and HOG steering. And here are the photos: Tc5 contest by veryrusty82, on Flickr Tc5 contest by veryrusty82, on Flickr And the leftover bits - enough to make a d model of some kind: Tc5 contest by veryrusty82, on Flickr

That is spectacular. Sheepo, you are really showing that lego can be made to do just about anything. -
[TC5] Trophy Truck
veryrusty replied to piterx's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
My plan was to do some kind of pro buggy, but combining the recent hot rod and snowmobile. Blue and lime green? -
Jim, I finally registered because this competition piqued my interest. I think it will be challenging. Well done in thinking it up. I just had a terminology question. On the entry topic you say feel free to reserve a post. What does this mean? Thanks. Rusty
