Thanks for finally simplifying the form! So much more convenient to use! Also, can you please check if 295 DB have been transferred from MAESTRO to TitusV (and I haven't typed Titus V as usual)?

Regarding ship licensing - what is the reason for the price hike after 3 ships anyways? It is easy to delay anyways (I currently have 4 ships licensed myself (and the fourth one was free for me thanks to Challenge IV), out of around 20 that I've built), and currently benefit from almost all of them. I would have preferred licensing many of them myself, but currently it is far more reasonable to let others license them...

Eslandola Colonial Council, First Cycle, 617, IN SESSION
Legostone replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Farrucio Paraja While I am not against funding the growth of our settlements by giving those living here a partial refund, I would consider only funding the build of those buildings that actually produce some taxes long term; I would even exclude residences completely from this offer. If a settlement really needs a few residences the funds the settlement has available should be enough considering the low cost of building those. And if someone really feels the need of building himself a palace (or better say, tells others to build one), the cost for that should be his very own cost for him. The shipyards are currently quite occupied with cleaning up the mess the construction of the last 6 vessels left behind, so work is currently slowed down significantly. No promises can be made when to expect the next few ships. Jerome Monezterrell I'm sorry for replying this late to the message, I've been quite busy over the past few days. I'm glad shipbuilding will finally be rewarded better, but I'm not sure if there is a need for funding vessels of the very smallest size. I also expect that we'll have to update this list soon as the time of bigger ships might be starting very very soon, but that shouldn't change anything with the current offers which seem appropriate at this point.- 76 replies

While I'm not Garmadon, I guess I can argue anyways. In this case it may be fair to let it go through - the 3F didn't go through a single MRCA before the 2F was licensed, so there was no benefit of licensing it first.

Ahh, I wish I could simply copy paste my masts onto my new ships, and even better the sails (you don't know how long the real sails take... :/) But I dare to say that your upper fighting tops are too far down (or better say - the topgallant mast start too far up). Also, I'm not entirely sure if the topgallant mast on the mizzen is really necessery... One day I'll have to order a ton of those 1x2 hinges and build a hull using them, with enough of them it should certainly be sturdy enough... -
Yeah, on this one they are more ornamental, but I think they fit the look of the ship:P Didn't know you were the first to use them, really thought it was Imperial Shipyards. A snow isn't exactly a Brig, it developed from the other side. The Brig was developed from the two masted Brigantine, and the snow developed from the fully rigged ship, with the mizzen getting really close to the Main. Check Wikipedia for more:P

:D The flag is well, some experiment with paint.net - I forgot to build an actual flag and had left on the temporary large white flag. Thanks! I spent way too much time making sails over the past few weeks, I'm hoping my next ship doesn't need this many... Well, the stripe is white as well, it is just broken because that slope is so unconvenient sadly. Looking at the pictures again, I'm considering removing the slopes at the bottom of the sternplate, as they seem quite odd.

Thanks! The flag always works, doesn't it?:P Thanks! I'm glad you like the colourscheme for this one, and am also glad the deal has worked out well:D Thanks! Let's see what happens in a few days:P Thanks! I'll take a couple more pictures on the weekend, I feel like some of my ships are still missing a couple of pictures... :D Jon El Flurry was a name that came together totally on accident and we decided to keep it:P For the headrails - I'm not quite sure where I got these from, just the usual flex tubes that, if I remember correctly, were first used by Perfectionist/Imperial Shipyards. I'll have to correct you though - it is a Snow, not a Brig. You can see the Snowmast in this WIP image:

OOC: Well, this is the last one that I can get ready for this MRCA. Considering that members of Eslandola have licensed a couple of speed 4 (5Fs) merchants over the past month, it would only make sense to add a first escort with equivalent speed to it... Also note: This was a quite rushed build (I noticed 2 days ago that we need it), so the quality of the build may be a tiny bit worse than usual, but I still think it'll fit well with the rest of my fleet. Fun fact: This ship used up the last of my green cloth, so expect different coloured sails for my next ships, maybe I'll return to dark red. How does one make a compact, well armed ship that still performs well? Well, I hope this is the right way. This ship might be a bit odd, considering how rare quarterdecked Schooners are, but the 6 Swivel guns on there should certainly help against attacking pirates. And well, maybe they are scared already by the 6 6 pounders that each broadside carries on the gundeck? And if they dare coming close, there are always a few happy snipers in the fighting tops, if you call them that. I call them crosstrees with a plank nailed on top of them, but it certainly works for us! So, enough talk, we wanna see the ship! I think I'll still tinker with this one a bit, but I was quite short on time. The prow certainly needs a bit more work as I just noticed in these pictures, as does the curve around the bow! Stay tuned!

OOC: I had already said that my shipyards have been quite busy - and it still isn't over (although I think this is the second last one I'll publish before this MRCA). This one has been sitting in the shipyards for several months now, just waiting patiently for finally getting finished, and I've finally done that over the past week! Well, well. At the time I announced that I would be able to take an order for a ship every now and then I didn't expect an order for a class 4T2 right that moment. But time, resources and space allowed for it, so we went ahead and built up this Snow. Carrying 8 18 pounder Carronades, she can certainly defend herself against some pirates, but an escort would likely be a good idea. She certainly has the cargo space to warrant an escort! She'll be delivered to the MCTC who ordered her over the next few days, right before the convoys are leaving port. Let's see what she looks like! At request of the MCTC I had to install some quartergalleries to allow a little bit more space on board. And now you know why these are called tall ships! They are very tall! I hope I delivered what you wanted @Kai NRG ! If you think I did feel free to request another ship, but expect similar delay as last time!

Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
Legostone replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Measuring out that ship with a given width of 13 studs, I get a length of 48 (fits!) and a width at the stern Galleries of 9.8 studs, which also fits. The biggest issue is currently the high width at the bow compared to the center, but I think it won't be too noticeable later on. Sadly I didn't see any more details about this one, but it was just the basic idea behind this one. Meanwhile: I've started rigging it (as I want it finished tomorrow morning), and tested how much space there is. Around these small guns I can easily fit 3 minifigs, which is still less than the supposed 6, but it is a compromise I have to make at this scale. I also added some simple headrails and catheads which I think look good. Compared to my other Schooner: A bit smaller than I expected at first, but still alright I think. With the quarterdeck the deckspace should be nearly identical between the two:P -
@Phred Both me and Elostirion still have the value of our free ship we won in Challenge IV subtracted. Would be 350 DB less for him (5F) and 450 DB for me (4T2, 4th ship)

I told you already that my shipyards have been very busy over the past few weeks. This still isn't the last ship of this batch - that one is either coming tomorrow or in 2 days. It is another ship for another member, @Garmadon in this case, the 2F Shooting Shuriken. It is of very similar construction than La Presta Canosa. Unlike that one, it features the odd addition of a quarterdeck - the captain wanted a bit more space on the deck, and we had to find a way to go with that wish.

Shipwrights Guild Hall (WIPs, feedback, and advice)
Legostone replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
First of - Yes, why shouldn't it be able to do that? (It was very scary placing it down like that though...) (Mine isn't magically balanced either, but I only dare to pick her up by the top of the masts as the rigging is in the way everywhere further down:P) I know those guns are way too big - I just have a convenient bag with about 50 of them sitting here:P (I think total I have about 100 of them among all my ships and WIPs). I think I'll go with my small carronades for the gundeck and see what to do for the quarterdeck - if anyone here has an idea feel free to tell, I would be glad about ideas :D I've removed the gunport covers - they don't fit well with such a small spacing. With these windows, which have a wall thickness of 1/5th of a stud on the thin side and 3/10th of a stud on the thick side, I still have a gunport to space between gunports ratio of 3 2/5th:1 3/5th -> 17:8 (using the thin side) or 3 3/5th:1 2/5th -> 18:7, which is, as far as I can tell, somewhat plausible. Yes, the ship is still smaller than Minifigure scale, but I am alright with that. For the bow - I've gone ahead and made it 2 studs longer, and I might change that to more if it is needed. Considering this is not a merchant, wouldn't a capstan instead of a windlass also make sense? I remember you having a capstan in one of your sloops even. I think I would place it right behind the foremast then. While nobody had said anything about the mixed colours in the stern, I've decided to try out changing it to completely white - I think that looks a fair bit better. Also, don't worry about it being that low - I prefer building up my broadsides first for armed vessels. That Schooner is from the wrong time! But I am not saying you are wrong:P Edit 8 hours later: Designed some smaller guns, small carronades for this one and replaced the 4 gunports on the quarterdeck with swivels - made sense for me to place a couple of swivels up there to sweep an enemies ships decks. I also started on the lower part of the hull. The black stripes on the interior (I'm not sure if they stay) are supposed to be reinforcements to keep the hull stable with the carronades as this is a quite small ship for its armament, again. Not 100% happy with the shape - it starts going inwards towards the stern to early/the tumblehome doesn't want to play exactly the way I want it to. I might have to add a supporting pillar in there while mounting the quarterdeck. -

I was wondering how compact a 16 gun Schooner could be built - after all, Schooners are much smaller than frigates and Ships of the Line, at least they are supposed to. There aren't many options for smaller gunports (and smaller guns could cause some trouble too), so I went ahead and checked if a quarterdeck with guns on top might be plausible. Behold, I managed to find an example that works for my needs. Of course, this one only has 12 guns, but adding 1 more pair of guns towards the stern and another one towards the bow isn't difficult. No need to always go as big as humanly possible ;) 46 studs long, 3 stud spacing, rigging between instead of below or above gunports, some tumblehome. Should be all that's needed for this kind of ship:D (For anyone wondering why I'm building this early in the year - I want this ship done quickly and the new years party I was at is already over. This is just the first 20 minutes of experimentation for getting the hull:P -

Do we have to submit an MRCA form for every ship in the convoys? We'll be sending a doc with all the ships, their classes, convoys and owners to you anyways. -
So far, most Eslandolans (besides a few within MAESTRO) have preferred slower merchant ships. This has been changing over the past month, and a request appeared for me to build a fast ship that can still carry a bunch of Cargo. After a bit of talking I got my shipyards convinced to build us, Eslandola as a whole, a new Schooner. This one is owned by many within Eslandola, with members of all Trade Companies owning parts of it. Let's hope it pays off! The Piece of Eight will be licensed by @Capt Wolf. First, let's see it in its entirety! Bow: Stern: And, lastly, the small broadside sporting a whopping 2 guns each. Enough to defend while outrunning the enemy I hope.
