I just wasted passed about 42 minutes scanning eBay for listings worthy of being joked about in my thread. Do you guys think that LEGO will release something tomorrow on the eve of the new announcement? An extra solitary image such as artwork of a character or photo of the stage theyll be using? I need more thought crumbs to survive on the energies of the speculationverse. They should totally post the ccbs Combiner instructions for fikou already. We know they are going to do it eventually... and if they dont... which of us will have the determination, the boldness, the courage to buy a second onua and mod his mask orange to MoC fikou before they MoC CCBS Boxor & Nuparu?

On Ebay This Moment: "Makita" Terrida
InfurnallDragon replied to InfurnallDragon's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
UPDATE: Rule 63 Makuta Terridax was sold. Congrats to the lucky buyer. The set itself was nearly complete, as LewiMOC said, with the need for just a few pieces to set up the full Terridax. Also the infamous SHREDDER CLAWS have found a new home. Koblacka and... "Hahli"... are still out there. Adding to our action figure sideshow: LEGO Custom-Made BIONICLE WARRIOR #7 with Gray MATATU Mask + Free Shipping Ackar the bandit-mercenary strikes again! This matoran, clearly a veteran of not just the BIONICLE WARS but also of Karzahni's "repairs", sports the SHREDDER CLAWS of Piruk. How do I know he was in Karzahni's lands? Just look at that horrifying leopard print ground! These are the aesthetics only the mad lord of creation himself would apply. More interesting than that, he appears to be far happier than Karzahni's other hapless building frenzies. Just look at him frolicking happily in that totally real, totally not astroturf, field of sunshine and shininess. This unique character has Dual-Functions! Always a plus! Rip off his hands and swap them with those cleavers- as demonstrated in the photos. There are 3 of them available for 10.88 USD. Ever wanted the Kanohi Vahi, Great Mask of Time? This guy has them- in fact he has all of them: BIONICLE Mask of Time VAHI RARE hard to find item! Not only does this seller commit the sin of rhyming "very rare" to "vahi rare", they at some point had over one-hundred-six (106) of these vahi rare I mean very rare masks. As they say in their listing: How in Karzahni, the leopard-print realm of chaos, do you acquire 106+ of these things? Regardless, they are selling only a little, "more than 10" for 6.75 USD a piece at the time I viewed this. You could get that "Great Birthday Gift! ." for your 106, Omega Tahus in preparation for their 2015 rebirth. -
Could be this iteration's Great Beings' script. Someone had to put masks in the pedestals. Someone had to chisel the runes on the MoCr. If I remember correctly, the creator ruins on Bara Magna had a complex (unlike Matorn imo, after staring at it long enough you notice it is stylized Latin characters) alphabet that some of the characters spent years studying, but Mata Nui recognized. I was running some comparisons between the new video and the old one with the MoCr. If it is the same pedestal, it has changed. The MoCr's has 6 wings, each one squishing limited text between them. This display seems to have twice as much text between these wings, which are shaped differently and are less than 6 judging by the circumference of the new one and distribution of the wings on the original. You can sort of see a single wing at 00:14 of the new video of the left edge just behind the bend. Each of the wings of the original pedestal have a tab on them, maybe to place something. This suggests a unison of 6 things that could open the pedestal and reveal the MoCr. That would give it plot significance. If thats all true and the MoCr stand is canon, then this pedestal is for a mask we havent officially seen yet (or it was made in error). I could be off though. I looked at the leaked "final" images and the pedestals of each of those actually look identical. So its probably a bad angle of the pedestal. I still think theres more characters between each "wing" thing in that new video than there are on the set pics and original video. Concealing the masks in these pedestals sort of reminds me of the manner that the golden Hau was hidden in MNOG [Awkward pause of thread traffic is awkward]

Whoever wears the gold skull spider could be the controller of all the spiders, even the LOSS? That would be with the LOSS mask being in a pedestal just like the Toa's golden kanohi. The mask itself would be the tool to creating the spiders from darkness, rather than mind controlling mind controllers.

I believe this is just one of the MANY platforms every gold mask is hidden in, not just the MoCr. You can see one plainly on Tahu's boxart. It makes sense that they would use more than just blue to display the magical properties of the masks in the final product of their marketing campaign if each mask does something different, so the purple light doesnt really mean anything to me. They are punishing those of us who have looked ahead already (the leaks) by just showing us what we already know exists. The legs in the background are weird. Its hard to tell what they are exactly in terms of shape (to me it looks like a biped wearing pants but that would be so outta place). Food for thought: The Great Beings had to place the masks in Mata Nui in the original plot, could similar plot-purpose entities be performing that now? Other than that I can see this being that video of Gali about to go toe-to-toe with earth defender over the mask in the Pedestal, which got hinted at in a leak somewhere if I recall. Which would make Earth Defender not a badguy but a neutral party who may or may not get possessed by [brain slugs] in BIONICLE fashion. Slightly off-topic: LOL check out that picture chain that started on the Bionicle Facebook post about this. I just now got that you mean that this is a display that is literally in the live presentation. Bionicle mask Kabuki presentation set in Okoto confirmed. Live performance to introduce the new theme (Im being silly).

This evokes my belief that IFB was based on Pacific Rim. Very cool combiner! It does have a Splitface sort of look, but better with that solid 1/2 and 1/2 color scheme. The double-pilot design is great, but probably something LEGO avoided intentionally. It has a seamless design for two robots that were literally combined together. I do have to agree with Konahrik, the pearl gold sort of throws a seam in the works. But, since the turbine-thing piece is red, Id put a green part over it instead of gunmetal or silver

I am now in the process of writing the "Heroica" idea in greater detail. More than likely without naming it Heroica. I might make a seperate thread for it later but I want to flesh this idea out as much as I can. I see a lot of potential in this, far more than just a fantasy theme. Anyone know which thread category this sort of idea should be in (IF I make a new thread)? I am not going to lose the Action Figure aspect of this but Im not sure which forum category is best for this. Edit^2: nvm
-
I blame this on untapped potential. CCBS can create characters that are more living. The shells do really good for characters that are organic beings in heavy armor (which would give Knights Kingdom III a better position over the others). Im kind of tired of there just being robots when its possible to change this. While they are more animal-based, certain Chi figures looked very good to me and pulled this off pretty well, simply by adding new pieces and using old ones in new ways. Lets take for example: The Elf of Gauntlet New pieces being in a one-wave set series arent so likely, which is why Gauntlet being a good set line is a bad idea. Similar concepts could definitely be applied to Ranger or Rogue instead. Im going to un /spoiler the heroica idea because I think if anything needs to be looked at more for how a fantasy action figure line should be done it is with that.

[MOC] evo, the brain knight (BA evo + aquagon)
InfurnallDragon replied to bacem's topic in LEGO Action Figures
This definitely looks awesome! I am planning a MoC of an eldritch knight (spellblade-type character) and was considering using aquagon for armor. This looks way cooler than some of the plannings Ive had for mine. Sadly, mine rely more heavily on blue (which is apparently rare in ccbs) than yellow or gunmetal. This looks really complete and those colors compliment that. The leg design looks OK to me. The brain just looks a little out of place to me, but I guess it is justified by the neat story idea. -
Quick Acronym Definitions: KKII=Knights Kingdom with the Action Figures; CCBS=Character and Creature Building System used by modern lego action figures; Most of CCBS has been strongly Sci-Fi for the few themes that use it. Most lego action figure themes were also this way. One thing that MoC'ers can definitely use and has a place for on the market is action figures in the fantasy or "medieval" theme. I have a few ideas for things that could definitely work and I would love to see happen. These could and should introduce new pieces for CCBS/Technic building systems for us to make our own creations, or just as cool sets themselves. These are in order of what I see as most possible. In each spoiler for them is a background on what they are and why they could come back. >Knights Kingdom III: >Heroica, the Action Figure Game: [EDIT: I am going to do a more developed writeup of this, the thread is too small and not focused on this new theme idea] >Gauntlet Ultrabuilds: >What I want from any of these ideas: New pieces of course! -More diverse medieval weapons than just swords (something KKII didnt do 'til its final wave but even then they were all still melee barring the siege weapons). Perhaps actual bow-shaped blasters that look better than Fluminox or Jungle Protector's awkward blasters with bows built around them. Maybe some functions for them to each use those weapons. Edit: -Another new piece idea: Magic staff weapons that act as blasters themselves and shoot some sort of elemental projectile that also sits in the staff like an ornament at the top of it. -More organic headpieces. So fall all constraction has given us is the robot heads of BIONICLE and Hero Factory. Also it is arguable that KKII's visor-heads could be included, but they look pretty bad without their visors. A CCBS-compatible head possibly in a similar artstyle to the hero ultrabuilds, that has a little more customizability than the ultrabuilds ones. Maybe a head similar to minifigs: have a head with the organic face and an axle joint hole at the top. Here you could put hair or a helmet or a hood. The ideal helmet would be made to fit on this minifig-esque head similar to other minifig helmets. It would cover the back of the head and part of the sides, but have a visor-attachment joint pair on the sides for helmets. It should also be compatible with BIONICLE 2015 masks that are also built in visor fashion to create new helmets or let someone outside of the BIONICLE line wear a mask in MoCs. -New CCBS Armor shell attachments with a more classic fantasy/medieval design. Current CCBS armor shells are just generic enough to be whatever. There is however, few styles of these attachments. BIONICLE looks like it wil ladd at least one for its style, but we probably wont see the kinds of things in BIONICLE that we could see in a Castle theme. They dont have to be just armor, what if your CCBS characters could have quivers for their crossbows or bows? Sheathes for new swords/polerarms? -Cloaks and Hoods. On rare occasions LEGO would include a cloak "piece" in sets (ie Vezon, Furno XL, King Jayko/Mathias). Short of do-it-yourself custom crafting this is the only way to "clothe" a MoC without using armor. A fantasy theme could bring in armor shells or attachements that are also more robe styled, but that wouldnt look as cool as a (Wizard/Druid/Ranger/Elf) with a cloak on their back as well. Fabric hoods vs full plastic hoods that fit on my suggested head piece would become a new debate similar to stickers vs printeds. -Female characters. This is a dangerous subject in a few ways. It is infamous for the fantasy genre to have sexualized female characters. Those (VERY FEW) that were in the BIONICLE universe did not really have this problem as much of a possibility with them being robots and all (although Roodaka sort of tested that pretty hard tbh). LEGO would have to navigate a really sensitive minefield, but I dont really see why that can't at least try to break the terrible 1:5 female:male ratio. I understand what constractions target audience is, but in part isnt part of the problem in selling to female customers alienating them from the theme before they consider looking at it? -Characters that arent robots. BIONICLE and Hero Factory are awesome, but you have to admit that there were barely any characters that didnt look like full-on robots. Even More New Pieces: -NEW FEET. We finally got new feet for CCBS in IFB. Before that it was pretty much either Piraka Claws or hero feet. This would be as good an oppurtunity as any to bring in new foot parts and break this stale building design. -New Hands. For the same reasons as the feet. Also, unless you are wearing gauntlets or other jointed gloves, the robot hands would look like robot attachments on organic characters (see every Ultrabuild). This is the perfect oppurtunity to fix that, with BIONICLE not really leaving space for this. (New Hands and Feet are probably more likely to happen in a series that isnt just one wave) EDIT: Updated HEROICA EDIT2: I feel like the Heroica idea could grow a lot more and I might add to it as the ideas come to me. This is mostly a speculation sort of a thing for me. I definitely feel like the Heroica is the coolest option and would probably go to Cuusoo with it if I had the resources and the know-how. So what do you think? Any ideas?

That is crazy... My town stopped keeping all the brain attack stuff... OT: They are definitely going to have a more complex plot than Hero Factory as was in their sales pitch to retailers. Good odds that this means story arcs with better conclusions and transitions to the next arc. They are trying for the 2001 look, but I really doubt they will have something like "the spiders appear bad but they are really part of a system for recycling the world" or "they are just animals that were possessed to become evil", which is the case of the first 2 villains of BIONICLE G1. The spiders seem aesthetically made to look like they are evil and will most likely be that. I find this whole mind controlling animals theme funny because there were at least 3 ways for it to happen in BIONICLE that were featured in sets. Then there was Savage Planet and Brain Attack.

On Ebay This Moment: "Makita" Terrida
InfurnallDragon replied to InfurnallDragon's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Lol, wow. But I do love this "Ackar". Ackar wanted to be able to compete with Malum in the arena- so he got BUFF! But in order to pay for his new fitness regime he turned to a life of banditry. He stole the only pieces Mata Nui had that didnt break the moment he took his first steps in Bara Magna. At some point he had even stolen Brutaka's double-sided sword. His darker life-style lead to a darkened mood as we can plainly see in his color scheme. He even painted Brutaka's swords to reflect his blackened mood. This negativity did not impede his ingenuity however! Rather than wearing a jetpack he stole on his back, he turned Brutaka's swords into a massive propeller and he uses the jetpack to pull him through the air the exact same way Superman's hands pull him through the air! Despite the means, Ackar is now a black and gold Superman able to finally help his people of the Fire Tribe. Was not enough? Want to begin assembling the full toa mata back in black to face off against their 2015 remakes? You can come one step closer with: BIONICLE 8536 KOPAKA in ALL BLACK, CUSTOM BUILT free ship .Yes, Onua's armory was pilfered again- probably by Ackar- to bring you this toa of icy roads. And if that isnt enough, join us next time when Onua hires Ackar to steal Kopaka's Pikari and armor in revenge to become Onua in ALL WHITE! Interestingly, this Kopaka is by the same person, and it does look really cool. I considered making one myself with Stars Skrall. The return of the immortal SHREDDER CLAWS. This is also listed by the creators of the Black Toa line. Make no mistake, Piruk does indeed have SHREDDER CLAWS, as the seller emphasizes: "PIRUK LE-MATORAN WITH SHREDDER CLAWS. ARMED WITH TWO SHREDDER CLAWS." If you missed out on the Le-Matoran that started it all here is your chance. Finally, brace your eyes for the jarring image of this next one. Insaniac from the cult classic Small Soldiers. Didn't know he was a BIONICLE? Of course he is! He was a robot in a team of robots with destiny and duty after all! Need further proof beyond that and its location in ebay's sorting? Just look at that description. Apparently Insaniac is actually Hahli. First she mutated into a toa, then into an underwater valkyrie, and finally into the ghastly yet beloved form of Insaniac from a favorite childhood movie. Take her/him/whatever home to complete your collection of every Hahli iteration to date. -

That is actually pretty amazing that someone took their listing that far, Kumquat. As I said ive put my trust into a few sellers before and got just what I wanted. Probably out of sheer luck though. (I havent really tested any of the kraata against lore source to see if they were legit, and Im pretty sure lewa's eyes are the wrong color). Related to getting older sets in deals I have noticed in my new MoC that older set pieces are far more durable than the later years of BIONICLE. My Mata Nui wave set broke the day I got it. A dust-caked Vakama's limbs and half a Leerahk I found in a yardsale were attached to the friction joins of CCBS several times and removed several times in trials and errors without so much as a scratch. -
Another cool work of art! The translations from set pieces to a true warrior's armaments are chilling. This form is a lot easier to take seriously than the 1x1 dimension calves design that seems to be walking on thin ice.

In the final episode's comments: I almost didnt make this thread, part because of how appropriate mods might deem it, part I didnt want to do something that could possibly insult the great original. But apparently this is Mesonak approved :D -
Found this after watching what I named the thread after. In yet another crazy effort to pass time til the 9th, what crazy things have you seen on ebay (or other places)? Do you have any cool stories about getting old sets from places such as thrift stores and online auctions since they have stopped occupying shelves? Find a funny eBay listing? Parody it like Ven would to get in the OP for a while under the red text. This does not have to be BIONICLE Exclusive, it just started because of a BIONICLE fan's youtube videos. UPDATE: Makita Terrida was sold. I will continue updating this thread on occasion with the funnier listings Ebay has to offer, but only as long as someone else replies in this thread to keep it from being just me telling jokes at the cyber-winds. First Parodied Listing; Makita: On Ebay This Moment: You may have read mine in another great thread: But I also found Lewa just recently. The one toa mata I always wanted, but my family only gave me 3 of his Nuva form...

What if we got a set that was a divider, instead of a combiner. Just an idea, and I wont take it as a real possibility: Takutanuva for Mask of Light anniversary. All the pieces to make Takutanuva. "Combiner" alternate instructions online.
-
This approximation of the LOSS' size makes me think even more that the LOSS is not a unique being. It would take more than one of those to fight Kopaka in one setting, let alone the whole team. I would be pretty disappointed in LEGO if they just pulled a Dragon Bolt in the media portraying him instead (showing him in movies and animations as 3-4 times bigger than he actually is).

Wow those are some pretty vibrant color schemes, like things that would actually live in a reef. I think Takadox wishes he had the mantis shrimp cred that Kaneta-Bur has! These are some pretty good builds. The desert sedge looks like an official rahi species to join other canonical BIONICLE animals like the Ash Bears or Nui Jaga .
-
In the really low but not impossible chance that they dont remake him for the new plot. If they remake him now in gunmetal and white, they could do the anniversary version gold and white later on when theres less gold and silver sets unlike this first wave of all gold and half silver. Or vice versa. Possibly, they could pull a Jetrax T6 and have Gunmetal in some stores, Gold in others. Or... SPECIAL EDITION SHELLANUVA. Takanuva in Shell-themed armor shells. I kid ofc...

What were your First and Last BIONICLE G1 Sets?
InfurnallDragon replied to TheBrickPal's topic in LEGO Action Figures
The bohrok were, imo, the prime of Bionicle's technic functions. Especially since they were smaller sets. -
Theres so much gold and silver already that IDK what they could do to have him stand out as Light-oriented. Fully transparent maybe (I know the cost would be scary)?. I would love to see a new Avohkii too, maybe a more unique staff of light piece/design? I concede that Takanuva is a far stronger contender for this than Vezon.
-
Returning BIONICLE fans will remember the Toa Haga that came out in 2005. They possessed the Metru build and were originally intended to be the "normal" forms of Toa Duma and Toa Nidhiki (their apperances being painfully obvious leftovers of what could have been). They were released to celebrate LEGO's 50th aniversary, and were instead made into the Toas Iruini and Norik. These sets brought cool recolors of existing pieces, and whole new pieces that would be used in later sets (Norik's mask+ the armors and Iruini's mask respectively) What if a similar concept were applied with the new LEGO line? Take something from a previous year, and put it into an alternate style. More CCBS-inspired modernizations of older sets perhaps? This could be a cool throwback to Old Bionicle, even in the event of a reboot (if handled correctly). This thread is mainly for fun to wait til we find out more at NYCC. What few (because we wont see every character come back) sets would you give a remake of in an anniversary scenario, why, and how would you do it? (actual designs down to the piece count are cool but not required) My ideas: I touched on this in the 2015 thread, and it met some criticisms: Vezon, the Traveling Thief Named in a style similar to "[Name], the [Title]' we have with the new Toa. My reasoning for Vezon is that he is an old-plot character that has an easy enough way to explain him getting a brief cameo or mention. There are certain things about his original design that could look really cool in CCBS, and could bring us some interesting new parts. (Please at least read "Incorporation with the Plot") Build: Major New Features: Incorporation with Plot: So: Me and someone else in the 2015 thread mentioned Takanuva. He could totally be justified on similar lines to Vezon and it isnt too unlikely that he wont be a member of the new Toa team or that there could already be plans to make him a Titan. EDIT: Fix some copy/pasting seams and my Vezon writeup
