  1. Vezon did. But more seriously I find the Ekimu in a stasis, in a box similar to Thor's Odinsleep which is pretty cool. The spiders are referred to as the mask snatchers or something in one of the slides. I think its the Tahu Conceptual -> Finalized slide. So they most likely did it.
  2. (Drawn today and not many years ago: a Leprechaun and his pot of Transparent NYCC Haus) Lucky, the Matoran Leprechaun: Some background: This is technically my very first MoC. Ever. This is what I made before I even knew what MoC'ing was. When I was a small kid growing up with BIONICLE and LEGO, I would anticipate every St Patrick's Day. Despite them not truly having anything to do with the day in honor of a saint, I would attempt to build traps to catch leprechauns. Usually the level of complexity of these traps was a bucket, a stick, a tripwire, and some bait (pennies). It was one of the things I did to celebrate every holiday as a kid. One year (2004, I think) I got a big surprise. Sadly the Leprechaun had escaped and I did not get his gold. For some reason he did leave these: (My mom is a crafter, and a very skilled one too!) I was told there wasn't much I could do with them, but I was convinced that I could use them with "Bionicles". Quickly, I set to work planning how it should work. I am not sure what exactly went on in my head, but it was apparently effective. I was very frustrated in a younger age that I had not gotten a Lewa Mata. Instead I had gotten over time three Lewa Nuvas. I figure after the third Miru Nuva, I was sick of how they looked so I used this mask pack Kakama instead. Coincidentally, that green Great Mask of Speed is perfect for speedy Leprechauns on the run! In order to get the arms on, they had to be slipped into the sleeves first. Then they had to attach to one of the green torsos that were not part of 4-armed Lewa Nuva (yeah I know, but his story isnt as cool as Lucky's). The real feat of ingenuity came from this piece: This lets him wear the hat, but it also gives it a bit of framework at the top to keep the hat flat and not pointy! The Technic beam from the Nui Ramas I had also gave the hat a cartoony tilt. At some point I am pretty sure he had a shillelagh, but with the very limited poseability of his build I had to use that extra long axle and ball end for something else. Other than that, Lucky's form has stayed mostly preserved for the last ten years and is one of my favorite creations. I am currently planning how to use Protector of Jungle (and maybe a new green Kakama) to rebuild him with a little more poseability (and a shillelagh to club spiders with). This MoC has also got me interested in the idea of non-plastic parts for MoCs. Maybe it wouldnt make sense for something like leather pauldrons on a BIONICLE character, but maybe custom capes or tabards with insignias could add a new dimension to some of my ideas. Thanks you forum-goers for viewing! Thanks, Mom for the awesome Leprechaun accessories! If I had to rate this as a set in its current form: Overall: 10/10- Could inspire me to go hunting for Leprechauns once more! Final Image:
  3. Greg Farshtey, the Great Being of Gumbo From Bionicle's Facebook Apparently that was in the NYCC presentation slideshow?
  4. Chirox would be a very interesting twist with CCBS pieces, and something really out of the norm. I wanted to say that Id MoC vezon, but without a similar piece for the face that is new I am not seeing the point. Maybe a repainted spider will look appropriate.
  5. Im the only one excited for Kongu+Kahu revamp with the reintroduction of purple pieces...
  6. I can understand this, but I am going to be missing out on those Pakari pecs now because I'd rather go without than see them peel off and leave goo.
  7. Set Title: King Jayko Set #: 8701 Theme: Knights Kingdom II (Final Action Figures Wave) Pieces: 130 Year of release: 2006 Price at Release: $20.00 or £12.99 Advertising Blurb: Source And we will get to that fireball in a few more sections! Intro; Some Background and Info: The front of the box is featured at the top; here is the back as well as an exciting picture from the instructions. ^^This Pic advertises the Castle line of '06 ( A glorious time for constraction as well as System LEGO.)^^ The Pieces/Unboxing: (The reason I got this set ) Interesting Parts: Be right back as I assemble this regal ruler... Here is Jayko complete, and in the instruction's cramped-looking reference pose. I will go ahead and list some Pros and Cons he has, as if he were packaged seperately as a Knight: Pro: He is pretty tall (as I will compare to Vezon and Mata Lewa) Pro: He has a very nice Silver, Gold, and white color scheme. Con: The only things that throw this off is the blue pin (that you will only see if he is in this very vulnerable stance), the fact that his shoulders have a darker shade with a glittery sort of texture, that crown that is a little darker than the chest armor, and (for the truly picky) the Knights Kingdom ratchet pins are not really silver, but a sort of quiet blue. Con: The Knights Kingdom joints. As much as I love the aesthetics of most the Knights Kingdom action figures, their joints are as annoying as Karzahni (the place )! Actually posing him for pictures is extremely difficult, and I jsut settled for the very cramped reference pose. This pose itself is somewhat of a con because it is so cramped. Pro: The arms look pretty complete for a Constraction set! They aren't really exposed anywhere except for maybe the forearms, part of which are already shaped to sort of resemble gauntlets. Pro: The back also looks pretty complete, and the cape helps with this and also with the below, but not fully. Con: Like pretty much all Constraction figures, he lacks armor on the backs of his legs. What armor he does have on the front of his legs hinders posing the feet. Pro: The function of the figure is actually pretty good. While you do have to adjust the arms a bit for certain poses, they are probably the easiest to pose part of his whole build. The function itself has two movement gears that function independantly, which is a huge plus! This allows for a sort of Rock 'em Sock 'em independant arm swinging so they can bash with their shields, block, or swing the spiffy sword! Overall, I like the appearance of this figure and the function a lot. Its a real shame about the poseability though which is a tremendous drawback. Without the catapult it would really be a sort of clone of Mathias or any of the other Knight's sets really. Now on to the Aforementioned Catapult! The catapult features two really neat functions, made possible mainly by the standard LEGO System. The catapult is about the right size, and made to work with the action figure. Despite the large ammount of System pieces it is a part of an Action Figure set. The main function is- of course- to launch things! ... which it can do pretty well. This thing can in fact compete with most Action Figure blasters for distance and in a way it is Jayko's blaster. If you can fight past the posing and strange angling, and give Jayko something heavy enough to bash the lever with (possibly his shield), you can make him launch the fireball. The fireball: (Sorry for Blurry ) The fireball is the two halves of the boulder, with three (3) trans reddish-orange cyinder-type 1x1s. It is intended to fall apart on impact with whatever it hits, scattering pieces everywhere! (it wouldnt be fun if we didnt have that risk of losing pieces, right Zamor fans? ) A secondary feature: As the catapult rolls forward, it chops ( )This is how it works: The axes are each mounted on long axles like so, and those are attached freely via pin to the sides of the catapult. Each wheel has these Technic-compatible half-bricks that are also attached freely by pins to the catapult. As the wheels turn, the bricks underneath bump the axes up and down sharply (no pun intended, but it may as well have been). Final Pic (and attempt to pose with these joints): Final Thoughts: The set itself is really awesome as a whole, the king being "cool" on his own as well. The overall appearance is pleasing. All the functions are great- the catapult itself is great for pelting cats or running over minifigs if you are into those sorts of things (I did not and would not pelt my family's cat ). I cannot really find any cons with the catapult, except that it looks a little weak in the sides. The set itself is really amazing for parts, providing two different kinds of weapons (3 with the complete catapult), as well as the ever-nifty medieval armor for knights. If you can get this at a reasonable price like I did (avoiding sellers of "Collector's Items") it is well worth it. The original retail price is USD $20.00, which is pretty standard for Titans and I do consider King Jayko to be a KKII equivalent of a titan. Sadly, when compared to other titans he is pretty lacking (mostly in complexity, but so much so that comparing to BIONICLE's makes him look pretty bad) Build: 8/10 pretty solid in appearance in color scheme. Lacking a little on the fortification side of constraction. Parts: 7/10 (I did get the set for this reason however:) Despite having a good sum of technic parts and System parts, this is an action figure set and System and parts and Knight's Kingdom limbs and torsos are kind of a liability to action figure sets for MoCing purposes. It is not impossible to use these pieces for action figure MoC's, but it can be difficult. In partial compensation, it does give us quite a few converters and pins/connectors though plus the equipment which can work a lot better for CCBS and Technic use. Price: 10/10 I felt it was worth the fun of putting together and playing with a bit, and it also has serious MoCing potential. If you could get its original retail price (like I did)- or maybe just 10 over- and then compare that price-to-plastic ratio to modern constraction figures', this definitely seems about right. Overall: 8.7/10 This is just averaging the scores of the other categories and adding a bit on, because I do find this to be a very decent set. It almost feels wrong to disassemble his suit of armor for my own due to just how complete and nearly perfect the set looks. I am very glad to have gotten this set. I kind of wish Knights Kingdom II hadnt ended. They did some very interesting things with it towards the end and I would have liked to see more. (Here's hoping they consider KKIII in CCBS ) How did I do? How does this set look for you? Edit: Fix'd as many typing errors as I could. Added notes I left out. Also corrected tags.
  8. Then I hope they will at least release another parts bucket like the old one with the Gold Vahi in it. Looking at the MOUP again: It kind of looks like the Avohkii in general shape. This could have some serious implications if the final product is modeled after it. I am very excited for the new head pieces. That launcher bit is... weird, but I am glad they did make something very reminiscent of the old ones. I love how it looks like a robotic face rather than a skull with a hole for the mask (even though an extra option to hold old masks was something I really wanted). I like how comparable it is to the animation and its artstyle.
  9. Am I the only one who wants to MoC classic characters not in the reboot [yet]? Did anyone do any cool Inikas or Metrus? I think a dozen Jaller MoCs are the inevitable now... I can just imagine Kongu's [gukko Kahu? this lawsuit thing just got really confusing], Ka, with two of those new launchers mounted on this back... and a saddle area for him to sit... I might need more than one Lewa for the masks... and more than one PoE... and PoJ for the parts...
  10. I never understood why LEGO didn't keep tons of multicolor TECHNIC and CCBS pieces to begin with. There are definitely scores of people who would buy select parts by the buckets for MoC'ing. Certain colors are just too rare in sets that were already released (Blue).
  11. Darn I was ninja'd. Tried sharing this on facebook to get CCBS haters to at least look at the final product before crying about Hero Factory taking over their childhoods. Pretty cool that they let them MoC whatever they wanted and take it home. I would have made CCBS Kongu and his brigade mount from MNoG (THE PURPLE WAS THERE FOR IT ) Something about the stoutness of the Protectors' builds makes me want to MoC some Terraria builds or characters.
  12. Hopefully thats just placeholder or... NOOOO WEVE BEEEN CHEATED AGAIN!
  13. That would be pretty amazing if he isnt just pulling your leg or trying to make the new BIONICLE sound amazing to someone he thinks is very skeptical of the new line. I'd be OK with this. I still love the look and the feel of what they have shown us so far already so I really dont need the connection outside headcanon. Every new piece in the pictures everyone has shared looks amazing, very much like something out of BIONCLE!
  14. Has it been discussed that that the Makuta/Ekimu movie says that elemental powers are in the masks? [ancient law blah blah blah no more than 1 elemental power per mask] This would at least keep the fact that the masks have powers, even if the old powers got scrapped. Also to explain the toa entering a new universe and changing their powers, I draw your attention to the major plot convenience known as adaptive armor. With a new universe as the new environment lego can wave the Advanced Technology Baton again. But I have gotten used to the idea of a complete and total reboot, so the alternate universes can just sit as headcanon while a whole new toa mata team takes the scene. yessssssssssss I love Makuta's new design. Something about that mask. If/when Ekimu and Makuta are made into sets do you think they will both have forging hammers? I would like to see makuta maybe get a different main weapon, or have that spike on the back of his exaggerated into a scythe while Artahka Ekimu keeps his warhammer.
  15. Retcons can be OK, they just usually get a bad wrap from certain major changes like this that do in fact make no sense. A reboot is in essence one big, fat retcon. A lot of the things Greg added in were like retcons to cover up stuff (ie Macku+Hewki) and thats one reason to not like his on the fly writing. I wouldnt be suprised tho if more and more major plot twists like BIONICLE originally had start happening that expand the universe a lot. v----v exactly v----v Some things need to be retconned, like some retcons themselves. I hate it when a plot does a 180.
  16. This is something those of us in the writing business call a retcon, they come in various flavours.
  17. By definition a history or story is a new reality, therefore an alternate reality. Even if they never recognize the old one at all or connect to it in any way it would be another reality. The old one existed at some poitn and now this one does. Doesnt matter what you call it, entity, continuation, reboot, its all alternate possibilities or alternate timelines.
  18. I modded TF2 to play this music everytime theres an Ubercharge. Time well spent. I hope the Vahi is a bit more than an easter egg. TTV mentioned a Temple of Time?
  19. I just realized for the first time that Gali has golden turaga mittens for her trident. (I actually loved this OST)
  20. #[Walmart/Target/ToysRUs]ExclusiveVezon, the Umbra of the new generation. I still love my take on him being a traveling thief that the Toa have to briefly put up with.
  21. I've got to say, that without the magical affects, the LOSS' gold spider mask resembles the shape of a much less exaggerated Mask of Ultimate Power. If you examine the artstyle they exaggerate a lot of details. If anything they are very similar, the MoUP could take different forms like was has been suggested about the MoCr. Edit: reviewing the video, the resemblance sort of ends after that second pair of details on either side of the mask. ALSO of interest to note: Artahka's signature weapon was a warhammer, so Ekimu does more than less have more homage to him in this way.
  22. This is the only one I found Googling "BIONICLE 2015 trailer" Seriously though, its an alternate timeline. Dimension traveling will be confirmed. Makuta is the master of darkness: One Mask to rule them all, One mask to find them; One mask to bring them all and in the darkness bind them.
  23. Fix'd I also love the artstyle of that trailer. Like I said before it reminds me so much of Dungeon Defenders. What if they told the story through a videogame series for PC and consoles, as well as graphic novels in a similar style. Idea: what if it really was like the new Star Trek, and the Toa are from our usual reality but they crash into this new one and have to adapt to it?
  24. Well this all escalated quite quickly. Website seems to suggest default masks of the Toa dont do anything, just legendary masks or maybe those gold ones. Thats a little bit of a let-down. I dont mind the cartoony animations, that on top of the narrations reminds me .Looks like the character's characterization carried over pretty well. the Gregism of pohatu being the strongest sort of got retconned to Pohatu have the most enduance, whereas Onua is clearly the strongest. #OnuaisSnorlaxConfirmed
  25. Not sure if this is compatible with what has already been guessed at for the boxes but I tried to draw this up in my onua discussion: If anything this could be how I mod it later to make it changeable, or Id try something similar. Something close to this would allow us to change the function quickly without removing any parts. Having trouble imagining a double ball joint short enough for a gear to reach though. I've got some ideas for custom skulls that can bear axle masks on CCBS bodies that I will try tomorrow.
