Heroica RPG- Quest #122: Invasion of the Sheep Snatchers
Lind Whisperer replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
The Black Knight silently continued to thrash away at Other Grunt A with the Chaotic Whip. -
I'd like to give Marauder a try, since I'm liking the idea of double attacks, but I think Dragoon would suit Lind better RP-wise.
-
In that case, a certain Munchkin is definitely going to be signing up for #129, if he gets back to the Hall in time. Any chance Heckz might sign up for it? Imagine the snark potentional... I know - that's why he's one of my favorite characters.
-
The timing between these posts is almost entirely coincidental. Ooh. Dual attacks. Nice.

Heroica RPG- Quest #122: Invasion of the Sheep Snatchers
Lind Whisperer replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
In a sudden burst of Munchkin inspiration, the Black Knight suddenly smiled towards the Hypaxxi horde. "Greetings, friends! Have you yet heard the good words of the Dodekube?" OoC: Disclaimer: This is a non-canon post. Any actions or dialogue never actually occured, nor should any response to it be considered canon, in the event that a response is made. -
Could we have a definition for "those strong in faith"? Does it mean characters that are strong in faith, such as Asphalt, character classes like Clerics, Paladins, etc., or characters that have been on prior quests that involved or featured the Sisters?

I know. 1500 gold to be spilt among the party, + all sorts of different loot from "sea monsters, automatons, or vikings," or Vindicator access... I can't decide if I want Lind to go Vindicator or Dragoon someday. Zweihänder is awesome for WP, but Dragoon gives you a dragon...

Lind and Throlar have to go on a quest together someday...

They updated the sawfish?

Heroica RPG- Quest #122: Invasion of the Sheep Snatchers
Lind Whisperer replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
OoC: When I suggested that I go up solo and take on the enemy, Purpearl asked him for all of the gear she'd lent him back: And then a bit later, she only re-lent me the whip: Also, in the unlikely chance I somehow fail to post actions for a battle before everyone else has posted, Lind follows whatever order the party leader lists. -
Heroica RPG- Quest #122: Invasion of the Sheep Snatchers
Lind Whisperer replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
The Black Knight kicked the parasite away from himself. "A simple-minded attack, from a simple-minded creature." He turned back to the Grunt A, uncoiled the Chaotic Whip from his belt, and began to lash away at the humanoid. OoC: Lind shouldn't have the Crescent Shield equipped - I think I may have taken a single damage there? Also, Purpearl lent him the whip again, so he should have that in his inventory. -
I'm looking into assembling a minifig using parts x141: and 48493: Constructing the figure in LDD is possible, but the helmet seems to have some clipping issues with the back of the armor. Could someone with the parts see if they can fit together comfortably in real life? According to Bricklink, there were two different versions released - I believe the more recent version on the right might have a better chance at fitting with the helmet: Thanks! ~Lind Whisperer

Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Lind Whisperer replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
Great, that's what I thought. Petty Kings! Yes! That was almost exactly what I was envisioning, but for some reason I couldn't think of the name ... -
Book II - Nocturnus: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Lind Whisperer replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
I am very interested in joining Nocturnus. I just have one question about my character. I read through the rules and there wasn't anything specifically against this, but I assumed it would better to ask before I made a mistake. My planned character has "king" as a part of his name. He is not actually a king, he would be correctly categorized as a robber baron, but the villagers that live in the village below his keep style and refer to him as king. The official rules say that , but I wanted to ask if it was alright to keep the "king" as part of his name, as I don't want to accidentally cause some sort of confusion/problem/break a rule I missed somewhere. Thanks, ~Lind Whisperer -
After posting in 122#, I was reminded again about how you just have to love how talking is a free action.

Heroica RPG- Quest #122: Invasion of the Sheep Snatchers
Lind Whisperer replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
The Munchkin looked at her with an suspiciously innocent look on his face. "I'm not quite sure what you have against psychiatry. Why is exploring one's psyche a bad idea? Sometimes we must ask probing questions to reach our darker issues..." The Black Knight frowned as he watched it rise, and shook his head. "At least fifty good gold pieces of scrap metal all going up in...light." "And, the bricks just hit the fan. Er, saucer. Er, I mean, magic disk..." The Black Knight's face hardened. His voice grew very low and firm and intimidating, until it had become like the growl of some fell beast. "This...is my world. This...is my soil. These are my trees, my rocks...my people. Prepare to suffer the fate that you unwittingly sought in coming hither." His voice lowered even lower, so that none of the others, except perhaps Sorsha, could hear. " You will become less than nothing - for I shall wipe away even the very traces of your coming, until it shall be as if this night had never passed. I have known what the coming of such as yours portends, and it is against such that I exist. Such, is my purpose, my destiny - and my duty." "A surprisingly accurate paraphrasition of the behavioral patterns of these magical beings. My compliments." "Druid, tell the sheep to be calm. This will all be over very soon." "With great pleasure." The Munchkin sent his Ethereal Deck spinning towards the Other Grunt A in a mighty shower of carefully honed paper death. -
Actually, leaving him off the list of factions was correct - the snake shield was carried by Karzon, a rogue knight who served as weapons master to Vladek. Whereas the "jelly bean" knights all came from distinct provinces, and bore their heraldry on their armor, no province was ever listed for Karzon. Until or unless more information about him is ever released, I would suggest leaving the "snakes" off of the chart. Also, after consulting this official map of Morcia, I suggest that the post-Grand Tournament(E.g., Gen II) "Scorpions" be renamed to "Ankorians."
-
I think you just came up with the plot for the first official PVP quest.
-
As Dr. Cogg pointed out, the king in the KKII sets was King Matthias, not King Leo. After the infiltration and eventual destruction of Vladek's Fortress in the Shadowlands, Matthias would step down and bestow the crown upon Jayko of Talonjay. Also, "Scorpions" should be changed to "Shadows" - Vladek's crest was a scorpion, but his soldiers were called Shadow Knights, as they originally were knights of Morcia, but Vladek used magic to turn them into his servants, becoming "Shadows" of what they originally were. I'm suggesting these changes based on logical variants of Morcian province names: Hawk - Talonjay Wolf - Aldendan(I may have this mixed up with Banteras, but I do not believe so.) Bear - Orkansan Monkey - Banteran(Province is called Banteras. I may be confusing it with Aldendan, but I believe this is the correct version, due to its similarity with the word "banter," which suggests monkeys more than it does wolves.) As a note, Vladek's Shadow Knights were effectively replaced by the Rogue Knights, but whether or not they should count as an official faction or not is debatable, as their name is quite literal: they were rogue knights that Vladek hired. I believe the best place to put them would be as a sub-faction of Vladek, separate from the Shadow Knights - which should also be listed as a sub-faction. Hey, not everyone* hates the theme**. *Although, I admit I did have to Brickipedia most of the province names. It has been 11-9 years... **It helps that it has the most in-depth storyline of any Castle theme - what there is of it - and, according to canon, it's actually one of, if not the only, Castle themes that actually took place on LEGO Earth***. ***From the LEGO Club website "interview" with Ogel, who is apparently a descendent of him. Of course, there's always the chance that it's on another world, a la Ashlar, but the simplest solution is generally the best...

Heroica RPG - Expert Job Class Discussion
Lind Whisperer replied to LEGOman273's topic in The Heroica Archive
It's a bit of a crazy idea, but what if they had a trait where they could turn potions, remedies, etc., in their inventory into various venom-styled consumables that give negative effects? Of course, it sounds more like something a witch would do... -
It is actually a RP situation to some extent. But that's a great point - I really need to consider if it's enough of a RP situation to justify it...
-
That's kind of the point. By the time you're pushing 50, you're almost certainly immune to nearly every effect, have weapons that either have extremely high WP, or deal all sorts of effects, and you have all slots rigged out with the rarest drops that have ever been dropped. You're basically unstoppable. But, with quests in which KO'ing only means that you might fail a quest, there's no way to really prove it. This'd be the chance to prove beyond any doubt that you've made a character that can truly fight their way out of any battle, no matter how difficult, that they can find a solution to any problem, no matter how unsolvable, a character that can survive and conquer any situation. But like I said, it's only a very rough draft at the moment, and quite a few quests off before it's time for me to really pitch it.
-
The (admittedly rough) plans I have for the final installment in my trilogy* have it be "PC death" quest - if you're KO'd in one of the battles, you're dead permanently**. *Which I will start, someday. I'm really hoping to have my first quest(non-trilogy, newbie-level) ready for HM approval within the week... **It'd basically be a dungeon crawl for the very highest-leveled players, featuring wave after wave of ridiculously tough enemies. If you survive it, you are indeed an unstoppable Hero.
