Technic 2020 Set Discussion
kolbjha replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
The piece count of 8053 is 1289 (according to BL), so perhaps something similar? -
Technic 2H2019 Video Reviews
kolbjha replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks a lot for the great review! I have already ordered the set, expecting it in a few days. My 8 year old son watched your review, and is really excited and inpatient to start building. Torque is perhaps not the biggest disappointment, the ground clearance is worse... -

Technic 2H2019 Video Reviews
kolbjha replied to Sariel's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Thanks for your excellent review of 42098, as always! My son has never been so excited about a set before, especially when he saw that it was compatible with his Corvette. -
42098 - Car Transporter

Except that 42070 have sticker with "TOW 067", of course fueling speculations about 42067. -

I did some relative measurements on that picture, indicating a length of 8 studs. -
Reversing gearbox
kolbjha replied to chlang's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I don't know if it gives enough torque, but what about making a rocking mechanism, where a smaller rotating wheel/crank is rocking a bigger wheel (with rubber tyre?) using a link? Perhaps this also gives a more realistic rolling of your ship also?- 6 replies

I regularly use my USB mobile monitor stand made of Technic parts, especially on work travels. In meetings, people are amused by the fact that LEGO can be used for "serious" purposes. Ok, it's not creative, it's ugly, simple and banal. But it's quite sturdy, adjustable, foldable, and it does its job. Folded: In use: Now to the reason I started this topic: I am curious about what others have come up with using LEGO for other purposes than playing/MOCing.

James Watt's Steam Engine
kolbjha replied to Kaero's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Fantastic! Not only does it look great, but comes with mechanical complexity, also demonstrating the Watt's linkage. The last sentence being a bit of an understatement, as this machine was the reason why James Watt came up with this linkage in the first place... Really a nice idea to reproduce one of the first machines around. A big plus that it actually works with vacuum!- 9 replies

100% agree. Even though I think it's nice to have the possibility to use a smartphone or similar for control, I prefer the more physical hands on controls. High on my wish list, is that LEGO release a modular system for making your own brick built control. How such a system should be easily configurable is another thing...

Technic 2019 Set Discussion
kolbjha replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Many of the last years official Technic models is using a BB and PF motor, combined with a gearbox for selecting functions. How is this going to be solved with the new Control+ setup? Is it possible to use the hub without a BT device? -

8860 was released in 1980. I think it's safe to say that 8859 was the flagship in 1981. -
Technic 2019 Set Discussion

You mean the set is in a dual mode, both the excavator and loader exists, until you open the box and see for your self which one it is? ? -
Technic 2019 Set Discussion
kolbjha replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
It is mentioned there will be two 2H models, what if these two is only two out of three. Perhaps the flagship is, as some have suggested, a huge motorized excavator, using the new sprocket. After all, 2500 pieces is kinda modest for a flagship these days, unless it is "PF heavy". Speculating further, perhaps TLG wants to release a big showcase technic set for the upcoming PU. It would then be 9 years since last big excavator (excluding 42006, 42053 and the BWE). -
I see that SBrick and BuWizz are allowed. What about PFx Brick (with accessories like LEDs and speaker)? Or is it excluded to avoid discussions on allowable 3rd part accessories?

Where to buy?
kolbjha replied to Lego2016Lego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I guess this is relevant mainly for Norwegian members. 42055 is now available for 1000 NOK (around 100 euro) at Lekekassen.no, until tomorrow. Free shipping for orders above 1000 NOK. I believe this set will soon retire, so I have ordered 2 myself. Not sure if this is right topic for this post. -
Technic 2019 Set Discussion
kolbjha replied to dimaks13's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
If I remember correctly: - For 2016 1H, the first pictures were available around October 10, 2015 - For 2017 1H, the first pictures were available around September 25, 2016 -
IMHO this is all out of proportions. If I post a MOC (which I haven't done so fare, but hopefully soon...), I would appreciate honest feedback, whether it is "Wow, amazing...", or "you really need to work on...". EB is in my opinion one of the most civilized sites there is, and I hope it stays that way. I think attacking Sariel's opinion in this is way over the top. It his is opinion that the MOC is out of proportions compared to the real thing. From my perspective it is hard to disagree. Saying that, its still a great MOC in my opinion. Please ladies and gents, lets take the comments for what they are, and appreciate them.
