  1. Part count is not a very accurate measure. Compared to today's part count for a mid sized set, I am still amazed of the size, complexity and appearance of 8043 with only 1123 parts.
  2. Yes, I think you are right. I guess the last set outside the usual Technic categories was the Hailfire Droid from 2003.
  3. Fantastic! Like @gyenesvi I initially thought it was a Mindstorms creation. When I realized everything was purely mechanic... absolutely amazing!
  4. IIFRC those resistors are 47*10^2 = 4700 or 4.7k and 18*10^0 = 18 Ohm. According to Philo site, R3 is labeled 18D, not 180. R3 is 150 kOhm.
  5. I really like the insect theme and that you used the concrete mixer as part of the insect's body. Clever use of the mixer to contain mechanisms! It would be cool if you could implement a better weapon, perhaps you could find some inspiration here: https://www.google.com/search?q=lego+shooting+mechanism&oq=lego+shoot&aqs=chrome.2.69i57j0i512j0i273l2j0i512l5.5759j0j7&client=ms-android-samsung&sourceid=chrome-mobile&ie=UTF-8#
  6. I would like to have a version of the 4185 (pulley) with pin hole instead of axle hole: This could be useful for cranes and other hoists. I know that some have made their own version by drilling holes in 4185.
  7. Ok, I can agree it will work mechanically. What I wanted to point out was that the slot in the 2L end will be under constant stress. Interesting topic, by the way
  8. I don't think that will work, as there is a small ridge in the middle of the 2L end of the 3L pin.
  9. 16 t gear. It will also mesh with itself. 32 t is the only "missing" in the range 8 t - 40 t.
  10. I'm not sure. I have bought hundreds of sets, and until today I have never experienced any missing parts, or more parts than it should be, for that sake. Even the number of spares have been according to parts lists. Perhaps I have been lucky. My theory is that TLG adds these spares to ensure good experience for the customers. Imagine you're a kid in Xmas, and you can not finish building the set you got as a gift, because of a tiny piece is lost...
  11. Yes, this looks like a very interesting part! Unlike the regular worm gear, this looks like it can be backdriven. Looking forward to see what mating possibilities there are, and also what creative builds people will come up with!
  12. I'm not that deep into PU yet, but is it possible to use the hub from 76112 as a simple BB, that is without the train remote or a BT device?
  13. The boxes look good too, 8479 sealed alone goes for more than $500 on BL.
  14. Check out what Blakbird wrote in his Technicopedia: http://www.technicopedia.com/8417.html Also, according to Bricklink, these two sets have the same part count. Probably they are the same set.
  15. Not a big limitation IMO, if the definition of "vehicle" for this competion is the same as Wikipedia's. As I understand it, a vehicle is basically anything that can move and transport something, so anything from submarines to spacecrafts... (sounds like 8480 )
  16. Nice idea for a topic, and good ideas so far! I think it's good that you credit others when relevant, both being fair and also gives an insight to how your designs evolved. I really like your two-way to one-way rotation solution, very simple and compact, yet effective! I have already tested it, and it works very well. Already have an idea for use Keep up your good work
  17. Yes, I think it's natural to use these tyres now that they are available.
  18. We are actually 4 days behind schedule... Last year the discussion topic was started September 12. I wonder if 42137 will be similar to 8069 when it comes to size and functions. It has more parts than 8069, but I have the impression that recent sets have higher part count than comparable studless sets from the past. Perhaps we will see the return of the big bucket (32030), I think 8069 actually was the last set it appeared in.
