  1. "And, of course, you are correct. The vote has been called for and must continue." "Farrucio Paraja states my concerns against the proposal for subsidizing land properties quite well. So I intend to vote against the current proposal, although I will do so with the intention of revisiting the issue, albeit with a more focused proposal. As for the proposal to fund shipbuilding, although I believe it, too, could be better focused, I will vote for it so as not to discourage any shipbuilders from strengthening our navy."
  2. From the MCTC delegation: Willem Guilder votes YES. Aaron van der Meede votes YES. Philip Janszen votes YES. I have asked for more debate on these proposals in the council before we vote on them.
  3. Guilder paused as he changed subjects. "On the matter of financial incentives for new properties and ships, while I support the effort in principal, I would suggest more debate before we vote on these proposals. I know some have voiced concerns about whether we can afford such expenditures, and if there are limits on payouts to individuals over the proposed 3-month and 6-month periods, respectively. I have asked Captain Whiffo to make a presentation to this council regarding state finances. I think it would benefit us all and help us formulate a focused and fiscally responsible plan for encouraging the growth of the colonies."
  4. Willem Guilder stood to respond. "Mr. Fontonajo, I agree we must make sure our settlements are properly protected, and I would be happy to serve on this committee. But I should add that there are current discussions in the Continental Council that will most certainly affect what recommendations such a committee could make. So, I suggest that the committee start with a thorough assessment of our current defenses, but recommendations should wait until we know more about the Continental Council's deliberations." OOC: Leadership is discussing revisions to the fortification rules. When resolved, any changes should simplify things, but fortifications might be more costly. This shouldn't stop of us from building forts now in new settlements where we have none, however.
  5. Good pirate/ghost story (and ghost minifig)! I also like how the torso and dress pieces for Capt Yharnam actually seem to belong together. And the uneven bricks at the right side of the fifth pic does a nice job off representing that there's more to the jail than you've built. Excellent MRCA result build.
  6. Excellent bored ... er ... boardwalk! I also like the foliage and rockwork. And it seems to be the start of a fascinating adventure! I'm looking forward to where this takes Guy!
  7. Hey, I'm the one that actually opened a bank. Actually, @Stash2Sixx, can you add him to the Eslandola PM?
  8. Yep, that sounds like an Eslandolan. Welcome to the islands!
  9. Too many! But do you know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall?
  10. Willem Guilder turned to his friend from the Sea of Storms: "Well said, Colonel Oystridge. Mardier has been silent on Isle de Victoria lately, but we cannot expect it to last. We need a current accounting of our troop strength on the island and continue to supplement it. I would hope we could gather at least a full regiment of 270 men there, and I firmly believe we will need far more before the matter is through. If we wait to reinforce it, we risk dealing with a Mardier blockade." Guilder looked around the room before continuing. "But the Colonel raises another important point, about Fuerte Unido's expansion. I think we are learning that, as trade grows in the colonies of all the nations of Halos, true trade centers are few and far between. Nova Terreli is a magnet to all the traders in the east. If we can expand Fuerte Unido to half that size, it will become a trading port too valuable to the other nations for them to let it fall. Fontonajo urges us to look forward, not back, and that is what I propose we do with Fuerte Unido: build it into the jewel of the far eastern colonies so that it will command the support of all civilized nations. What can we do to pledge ourselves to its rapid expansion?"
  11. I love it! You made me go down to my basement to see if my MOC was still there! And even though it was, I'm putting monkey-proof locks on my doors and windows!
  12. Hi Brandon. Even though I'm in the Eslandola faction, I wanted to pop in here and say that blackdeathgr's simplified explanation of BoBS is excellent and is good advice! Also, you've got a good backstory, and I love seeing those lightly modified CMF musketeers with the hats replaced with morion helmets. But maybe that's just the Eslandolan in me.
  13. Guilder rose from his seat in the front right row where the MCTC delegation had taken up residence. "Thank you, Román. I look forward to seeing future sessions of our new council meet on islands throughout the colonies in the coming months and years." Guilder then picked up a sheet of parchment that had been laying on the desk in front of him. "If I may offer the first piece of business for this council, the Continental Council has asked us to confer the title of Secretary of the Navy, and all the responsibilities that infers, upon Jerome Monezterrell, for all he has done to strengthen our navy and ensure that our trade runs our well protected, all while sending ships out to prosecute our war with Mardier."
  14. Well done! A very convincing rice field! The middle section with the clear tiles is nicely done, and I especially like how you've done the irregular barriers between the terraces. The figure carrying the two buckets on the rod is also nicely done. And that plow looks vaguely familiar. A nice job of adding some cultural variety to Mooreton Bay!
  15. The members of the First Cycle of the Colonial Council are detailed in the IN SESSION thread. The business of self-governance can begin.
  16. The First Cycle of Eslandola's Colonial Council is now IN SESSION. Council members, please pay attention to the public thread.
  17. The campaigns for Eslandola’s first Colonial Council have concluded, and the council’s business will be conducted in public in this thread, unless national security merits private deliberations. For the First Cycle, the Colonial Council will meet at the lecture hall in Weelond on the island of An Holli in the Sea of Storms. The hall has been renamed Colonial Hall to honor this momentous occasion. Eslandola’s Admius Legistrad, the leader of the Colonial Council, is Román Esteban Fontonajo, Mayor of Nova Terreli and Governor of the island of Nellisa. The delegations representing the colonial regions and the trade companies are made up of three representatives each. The East Trade-Wind Company is represented by: Colonel Brickinson, adventurer extraordinaire; George, the brains of the ETWC; and Alberto da Pontelli, Mayor of Pontelli. The Merchant’s Colonial Trading Company is represented by: Willem Guilder, Eslandola Secretary of Trade; Aaron van der Meede, attorney and Weelond town council member; and Captain Philip Janszen of the Far Horizon. The MAESTRO Trade Company is represented by: Jerome Monezterrell, Mayor of Fuerto Unido; Captain Lamar Evercrees of the Santiago; and Farrucio Paraja, naval architect extraordinaire The Sea of Storms Region (An Toli, An Holli) is represented by: Colonel Oystridge, Mayor of Bardo; Victor Servadac of the White Glove Order; and Marquis Alkurda, scholar of science and medicine. The Sea of Thieves Region (Nelissa, Berreli, Ferro Azure, Torrach Bonn, Isla Philippe) is represented by: Román Esteban Fontonajo (the Admius Legistrad is allowed to simultaneously hold a regular seat in the council); Raphael Fontonajo, Román’s uncle, a scholar; and Joaquin Seramon Fontonajo, Román’s 2nd son, an explorer and adventurer. The Prio Sea Region (Isla de la Victoria, Otoño, La Sombra) is represented by: Lord Maximilian Damaximus, CEO of MAESTRO; Sir Yohannes Ethiximus, Mayor of Trador; and General Samu The Dragon, MAESTRO General of Prio Troops. No one ran to represent the Independent traders of Eslandola, so those three seats are vacant this cycle. Thus begins democracy in the Brick Seas. The First Cycle of the Colonial Council of Eslandola is now in session.
  18. Great looking ship! Great job with the sail plan, and I like the quarterdeck, which gives her an earlier historical feel. And of course the figurehead and especially the stern decorations are excellent! Here's hoping you don't have to use those sister ships!
  19. Actually, I have something to suggest for him as soon as we convene the colonial council. His effort will be recognized!
  20. Thanks! As for determining interest rates and such, deposits would have to be relatively long-term, but I have to see if there's any interest by players to take out loans at all. It seems like there should be a market for financing ship licenses, but we'll see. Thanks. I considered making the microfigs tan or dark tan, but the lt bley added an accent color the build needed. Thank you! Please remember me if you're ever short a few DBs for a property or ship license!
  21. the Jon El Flurry will join the Double Duty run.
  22. I really like this ship! I love the detailed masts and bowsprit, and the fence pieces used on the fo'c's'le and quarterdeck give it some character. And, of course, the white color scheme seems appropriate for a snow. An excellent job on this one! The MCTC has transferred the agreed upon funds to you and has submitted her license.
  23. I really like this quarterdecked schooner, even if she does sport red and blue prominently. I like the technic pins for cannons, and it has a nice gallery at the stern. The crown (such an archaic term) has transferred the funds for purchase, and the Victoria is now licensed as a 5LA.
  24. Another fine ship from your shipyard! Good shape, color, rigging, ... figure posing too!
  25. The ship builds are great, and tavern has great character. Very good use of dark brown and those braced support pieces. Well done!
