The infamous pirate Zublius Von Wreck has been quite successful lately, capturing three ships in his last two patrols at sea. He's added the ships to his fleet, and that means extra expenses. Those ships won't crew themselves. So, even though NPCs don't normally build MOCs, here's a small scene for ZvW increasing his ship levels. "OK boys, close 'er back up and bury it good. I got yer payroll!" And my apologies to @Professor Thaum. Any similarities to the First National Bank of Tortuga are purely coincidental a sincere form of flattery!

Nice build! I like the hinged tiles for the window awnings, and the fence+arch design of the windows. Good work with limited pieces. I also like the way you have the roof open to display the interior (and interiors are always a plus!). Period-appropriate as well.

[ESL-FB] Miraforma near Myzectlan, Cascadia
Capt Wolf replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I really like your jungle scenes. You have a wonderful way of putting color into things. And you've got some clever piece usage in there! I also like both the concept and execution of the fighting platform. Great use of SNOT technique. And for some reason I am fascinated with the idea of putting a round tile on top of a microfig. Cool build all around. Another great MOC from you!- 10 replies

I thought so, too! Thanks! Thanks! Due to the response about the green admiral sticker, I dug through my bag of stickered soldiers and found these. I'll have to find a use for them sometime.

@Legostone, I'll direct this to you...

[MCTC: Salida Este] A world of colours
Capt Wolf replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Ooh! I like the use of the gold on the balcony. It and the dark tan masonry bricks prevent the purple from being overwhelming. Well done. I also like the narrow stairs with inverted slopes for supports. And the artist looks perfect up there. Nice!- 6 replies

It's not a camera trick. The bricks the tiles are attached to are not fully pressed down so that the connections are at a slight angle, creating the curve. Thanks! I always hoped Lego would produce that classic design in colors other than red and blue, but no such luck. I think I ran off a version of that sticker one each in a variety of colors. Thank you! Thanks. It was my first time working with that diagonal pattern. Learned a good bit, and hope to use it again in the future. The party was a private affair for the officers of Espada de Luna. Headaches all around this morning! Thanks! I'm mildly surprised by the wonderful reaction this little build has gotten, as I was quite hurried on it. Glad to know I hit the mark. Thanks to everyone for the comments!

Thanks. I forget who I stole that angled checkered floor from, but when I saw it I knew I had to use it. And that is a sticker on de Flynt's torso.

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Capt Wolf replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
FYI, Quinnsville's limit is 60, not 90. It would need to be a large city for 90. -
Captain de Flynt was studying the sea charts for his upcoming trade mission when a knock at his cabin door interrupted his thoughts. "Come!" he answered. One of his lieutenants entered the cabin. "We've received the post from the harbor master, sir. There are orders from home." The lieutenant held out the orders, and de Flynt took them and broke the seal. He read them silently as the lieutenant wondered what might lay in store for the crew of the Espada de Luna. Theirs was the flagship escort of the largest Eslandolan trade fleet in the western seas, and Captain de Flynt had the temporary rank of commodore while he commanded the squadron. "Well, lieutenant, it appears the Council is happy with our efforts. And these orders have reached us just in time." "What is it, sir?" "I have been promoted to Admiral, effective immediately. Signed by Secretary of the Navy Jerome Monezterrell himself." "Congratulations, sir!" exclaimed the lieutenant, "but why do you say the orders reached us just in time?" Admiral de Flynt studied his young officer briefly. "Have you not seen the other ships in port? There are two more vessels here flying MAESTRO colors. They intend to join our convoy. Without this promotion, I would have been haggling over command issues with the captain of the AQAR. Now I have clear authority to command the entire squadron." "Ah, yes, of course sir! Good timing indeed!" "Lieutenant, have my personal flag raised in place of the commodore's pennant. And tell the quartermaster to acquire the best bottle of wine he can find in port. We shall celebrate tonight!" --- Just a little vig to promote Captain de Flynt from commodore to admiral, as necessary per the convoy rules.

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Capt Wolf replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Right now the largest single settlement in BoBS can only produce 180 soldiers per turn. The second largest can produce 90. I don't think there are enough settlements in BoBS to produce 2430 troops at once! But there is no personal limit on your spending for raising an army, only the limits on where and how many soldiers can be recruited at a time. Nope, no limit on how many can be stationed there. -

Crossing water requires shipping in the MRCA. Only movement from one settlement to another on the same island can be accomplished without boarding a ship. -

I forgot that! My bad. Yep, I knew you knew. I put that out there more for others, as it is something easily overlooked. -

Technically, none of these troop rules are very new. We're just trying to make sure everyone can find the info. All existing troops should be ok. And FYI, we're working on a form for keeping track of troop locations. Note that to move troops off an island, they must be transported by ship through the Trade MRCA, using the transport formula in the raid rules: (class rating + cargo rating) x 5 = number of troops that a ship can transport. -

Yes, within the limits of the various settlements where he raises them. You could raise 30 troops in Large Town A and another 10 troops in Town B, but you would have to fill out the army form for troops from each location, and create an MOC for each one as well. The settlements you use would also need to be in your faction. Note that troops can be raised by the various entities that can own property and ships: players, TCs, settlements, and factions. This is not to be confused with the location (settlement) used for raising the troops. And Drunknok is correct that you should ask the mayor or owner of a settlement before using it as a recruitment location. Technically, yes, although there is some disagreement about whether a player should raise the black voluntarily before making an attack. -
And since I don't see a link to the Black Flag rules in this thread, here's a link to them. Note that in addition to the conditions listed in that original post, any ship committing an act of piracy that leaves surviving witnesses to testify will be treated as a black flag ship going forward.

Duly noted. There was a lot of territory to cover when we rolled out the BF rules back in February. Thanks.

1. A settlement can produce t soldiers per MCRA turn. If x + y does not exceed t, both players can recruit troops at that location that turn. An MOC is required from both players in this case. -
How about ... Authorities do not have enough evidence at this time to declare a black flag attack was committed.
-
Just a quick reminder/clarification for those planning on recruiting armies: troops can only be recruited at a given settlement once per MRCA turn, and a MOC (more than just minifigs on a baseplate) is required for that settlement's troop recruitment. Also remember that there is a limit to the number of soldiers that can be recruited at a settlement each MRCA turn (details above). Edit: The write-up for the MOC should clearly state the quantity of troops and the location of recruitment.

I think due to Prof Thaum's story of rescuing the WTC Bully Boy I and its accompanying ships, no authorities are under the impression that a black flag attack was committed. If he were to state he was attacked, then they would be marked as black flags. Basically, you owe Prof Thaum at least a drink!
