[OL FB] Lloyd's of Londa of Alexport
Capt Wolf replied to Ross Fisher's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I love that you used the microbuild in a forced perspective scene, Nicely done! And Lloyd is a sharp-looking minifig. That torso-legs combo works great! -

Well, we get a nice update of the green vest torso, so I count that as a win for Eslandola! -
[ESL - Ch III - Cat A] Public Garden
Capt Wolf replied to Capt Wolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
That's what my wife says! Thanks. I experimented with a smaller version of that bridge in an earlier build and knew I wanted to include it here. Thanks! I considered it, but didn't like my initial effort, so I decided to place it in the non-blooming season. Thanks! Thank you! Thanks! The uneven terrain was the personal challenge for me in this build. It also made some sort of frame/border necessary, so I'm glad you like it! I think that minifig really works well for the setting, and the RL times. Agreed: everyone stay safe! Thanks. I experimented with a more intricate version but it didn't fit the scene right. LOL! Thanks! The river banks took some work, especially as the whole thing gains elevation as you move upstream. -

Absolutely! The new set looks incredible. An amazing statement, and I was thinking the same thing when I saw the pictures yesterday. Very anxious to see it in person! This is what makes it a big step forward for LEGO ships. That and the proper decking. I'm already thinking about how easy it could be to enlarge it for just that purpose. -
While there are surely many things that are different between the peoples of northern Halos and the peoples of the Kingdom of the Lotus in southern Halos, there are also things that are the same. In a public garden in the Kingdom of the Lotus we can see these similarities between us and them. Although their language is different from ours, the architecture of the gazebo and the archway may be different than ours, and the garden's wild nature may differ from our planted gardens, the appreciation of the beauty of nature is universal, and their relationships are just like ours. We see two couples in the garden today, one young and one old. The young couple strolls hand in hand along the cobblestone path and the bridge that will take them across the babbling brook. Across the garden, they see an older couple. The older couple is in conversation ... ... and so the young couple steers clear to give the old couple some privacy, and soon they continue their walk. The young girl sits on the stone wall, and the boy offers her a bouquet of wildflowers he has picked ... ... as an offering of his devotion to her. Moving to the gazebo, the boy reveals what is on his mind today. His military unit has been called to active service, and he will soon sail to a far-away land to fight in the service of his king. But he does not want to go before he knows that his girl will be waiting for him when he returns, and so he gets down on one knee and asks her to be his wife. Surely this is a scene that plays out all across Terra in every culture. One more view of the garden: This is my entry for Category A of the challenge. I particularly enjoyed building something far more contoured than I have built before. I was afraid of the scene becoming too crowded with so many elements, but I think it worked out ok. All C&C welcome.

[OL-Troop] Fatu Hiva Line Infantry

Nice troops. Loving that banner and drum (and how is that drum built?). Great marshy area behind the formation; I would have loved to see some detail like that in front of them. -

I'd like to see some close-ups of the cannons and figs, too. I feel with the one overview photo and nothing else that much of the excellent work is hidden. It initially looks like just a figbarf, but you've done some really good work here; show it off! You and me, both … -

I love this! Great use of that hair piece and the articulated horse. I will stay neutral as to the details of the subject's exploits.

It's amazing how good those old Falcon and Lion castle torsos look when paired with modern legs, hair, etc. And the arms for the water-carrier are pure genius! The orcs are awesome, too. As figbarfs go, this is an A+!

My understanding with that question is it was about having one thread, not one build. I thought you were asking about posting multiple builds in one thread. No, you can sistership a (prime) ship multiple times, just once per loss. That's why we have the Oscuridad III, but it couldn't be built until we had lost the Oscuridad II. Or am I misunderstanding what you mean by sistershipping being a one-time deal?
-
My 2 cents: As such, I've always treated sistership builds as one build per ship -- just like the original effort, only easier to build! Ships are understandably involved and time-consuming builds, and it is disappointing when our work is quickly dispatched to Davy Jones' Locker. So that is why the sistershipping rule exists: to save us from the task of having to build new ships from scratch (it saves us from even having to build a new ship at all!). But it shouldn't relieve us of the task of building a modest MOC of some sort. So a 1-MOC-per-sistership policy seems like a reasonable approach to me. I think it's also better for storytelling and the lore of the game.

Brethren of the Brick Seas (BoBS) Intro Thread, Era II
Capt Wolf replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
We've got a list of sunk ships over the past year we still need to purge, but ownership of captured ships has been updated, so I'm not sure why that's not reflected in the active ship list. Also, FYI, the data in the Ship Limit column has been wrong for a long time. -

CG, thanks for getting this processed! However, it looks like there are several glitches: The "Previous Balance" column appears to be off a line, resulting in the current balances being calculated off the wrong starting number. My property yield total appears to be for only one turn, not two. My MRCA income total for the two MRCAs isn't correct. It shows 1720 but should be 2200. Settlement parity has not updated. Salida Este and Fuerte Unido should be at City status now, with several new properties that aren't showing up in the parity columns. -
Ah, the Norwegian Blue. Of course! And I'm amazed it took you this long to use that CMF monkey head for something. As for who is attending, I'm sure Captain Jack Merker (who is not to be confused with Fraunces) and Kate are paying attention. ---- P.S. I showed this series of pirate lessons posts to my wife. I mentioned they were by Captain Braunsfeld, and she said "Oh, I recognize that name. He's the monkey guy, right?"

I recently came across a seller on Bricklink who was selling just the ship from the ship in the bottle set (for only $10!) so I snapped it up. But I wasn't entirely happy with the design of the ship ever since the set was announced. So, I decided to build a MOD rather than build it straight as designed. I simplified the gun ports, gave it some galleon-like styling, elongated the bow, reworked the stern, changed the sail plan, and came up with what I call El Genio ("The Genie") since I have released it from the bottle! Because I won the class 3 competition in the PA Cup minichallenge, I have a free class 5 license that can be activated with a microbuild, and so I will use it here. Some other views of the ship: "On the water": Additional pics "on the water": Thanks for looking. All C&C welcome.
