  1. Very cool! Great use of azure (or whatever color that is), ad I love the smooth angled roof and the random mosaic floor. Also good use of SNOT in various places. And those trees are good as well. I may steal those! Another all-around excellent MOC from you!
  2. The old fisherman goes about his routine, plying the waters between Bardo and Weelond for fish. He's found a good spot and nets another one into his boat. But he dreams of catching the "big one" some day. Maybe he should be careful what he wishes for... --- A quick little build that I've had in mind for some time. Here's a shot of the boat out of the water: All C&C welcome.
  3. Well, for example, one idea I'm considering is not limiting it to Weelond, but expanding it to any and all MCTC-owned settlements, which would add Salida Este and Chiquita as possible locations. They each have unique architectural aesthetics, which would give players some variety in their building choices Not a trick at all. I'm always willing to steal borrow a good idea. (Official emoticon of Weelond Octoberfest)
  4. I suspect yay, but I may tweak it this year. It might also move to a different settlement. I'm considering options, and suggestions are welcome. Regardless of politics anywhere in the Brick Seas, I strongly support any effort for the Soccer Cup to be played this year!
  5. Thanks.
  6. Nice vig! I particularly like the third pic, of the soldier behind the recruiting table. The double feather makes a great quill. FYI, for recruitment builds, please clearly state what size of unit (i.e., how many soldiers) are being recruited for EGS purposes.
  7. I do not recall ever seeing the ones in yellow ever appearing in a trade-MRCA, so they were likely on AMRCA duty. @Bregir and I were working a few months ago to clean up all the stray sunk and captured licenses. There are still issues with some ships. You are correct that none of the ships you marked in red should show up in the Corrington fleet. After we get EGS accounts and the settlement stats updated, getting the ship sheets updated (with correct level limits, among other issues) is on the to-do list.
  8. Thanks! Doh! You're right. What was I thinking? Thanks! Of course, this happened the turn before its encounter with your school ship. I suspect his departure from this battle had nothing t do with the junks, as Kate suggests. But watch forn a change in captaincy of the Colonial Storm at some point, if Jack can ever catch it. Glad you're enjoying it. I haven't had a chance to work on that storyline for awhile. Now I need to get Jack and Kate away from the Lotii... Thanks. I always enjoy a chance to work with FP, and this time it was all I really had time for!
  9. Thanks to everyone for the comments! I wasn't sure if the style combo worked, but apparently it does. I'm glad people are enjoying this classic pirates homage as much as I did building it. That was the idea, and is the idea for future builds. The settlement is meant as a place to build MOCs that are reminiscent of the classic pirate sets, whether strictly in vintage style or with modern interpretations of same. I think it'll be fun to see others' take on the classic pirate style. Glad you like them. I wasn't sure if it would turn out ok or not. And please borrow anything you like! It's a single layer. There are wedge plates near shore to create the gentle wave ripple. And it didn't actually take that much time. Maybe a couple of hours to put on the 1x1 round plates, and a half hour watching TV while I strip them off into a big bowl to dismantle. I guess I have developed a style; I hadn't really intended to. I was worried that the classic and modern combo wouldn't work, but I've had too much fun using the old printed panels in some of my recent builds. And I thought the tower needed more height, but I didn't want to change the basic proportions of the original, so it needed the higher ground. Thank you for noticing that! I've grown to really like how olive works with grays for rocky builds. And I agree the technic bits of the crane scaffolding are great. I can't take credit for that; I stole it from somewhere, but can't recall where. Thank you for both comments! Thanks! Thanks, and glad to hear I haven't become repetitive. I've been doing a lot of rock work lately, as that was something I needed to improve, and I've been using the printed panels a lot lately too. I just enjoy the throwback vibe.
  10. FYI, if npc pirate captures don't get moc'd before the next mrca, the pirates manage to escape.
  11. Shhh! Don't wake him.
  12. Great entry! I love the galleon! And the Lotus ship is very attractive as well--I like the curve of the rail you worked into it. Great job! That ship (El Galleon) visited Chicago a few years ago and I was able to go on board.
  13. I really like this build. It's big for a "micro", but it was a big ship. I particularly like the depiction of the fire ship.
  14. Jack spied the three junks on the horizon. "Enemy ships south-southeast!" he yelled. "Make sail and bear directly for them! And signal the Colonial Storm!" The crew of the brig Nightwing sprang to life. The helmsman turned the ship to the ordered bearing. The mainsails were unfurled and filled with wind almost immediately. "Kate, my dear, we have them," remarked Jack to his longtime companion. "They outnumber us 3 to 2, but we have advantages in tonnage and I'm most certain we can put more shot into them then they can handle." Jack paused to take in the moment. "This will be our shining moment, a story that will be told throughout Eslandola, our conquest in the battle with the Lotus..." "Er, Jack," Kate interrupted, "I think those odds aren't what you think." "What do you mean?" he asked. Then he noticed Kate pointing at the man-o-war Colonial Storm, their squadron mate on this patrol. It had not turned to the Nightwing's new course. "What is the matter with Captain Bloenhardt? Can't he see the enemy is ours for the taking?!" "I think he's hung you out to dry, luv," replied Kate. "It's possible he caught wind of your plans to take the Colonial Storm from him when we were up north." "Nonesense, my dear. Those plans were known to only a trusted few. And had we not been ordered away from that island for this patrol, his ship would already be ours." As Jack tried furiously to signal the Colonial Storm, it tacked away to the north, leaving the Nightwing all alone. "As much as I despise Bloenhardt, I can't believe he's a coward." "I don't think he is, Jack," replied Kate. "But I think he stuck the knife in yer back before you could do the same to him." Jack slumped against the rail and took in the scene. The Lotus junks, seeing the brig separated from the man-o-war, closed in line of battle and let loose a hail of gunfire. The Lotus ships continued to pound away, encircling the Nightwing and prepared to board her. "We have lost before it even started," said Jack. "So, what are you goin' to do, luv?" asked Kate. "I must think of the men," Jack replied. "We could fight to the death, but discretion is the better part of valor. Better to strike our colors, save the crew, and live to fight another day." "If we survive captivity," muttered Kate. "This was not the end of the story I had imagined..." sighed Jack. --- A much abbreviated build due to real life constraints. I think it still illustrates the story, but I had hoped to do more. And here's a shot that has the junks in focus so you can see them a bit clearer: And here's a micro of the Nightwing that I didn't work into the official build: All C&C welcome.
  15. One's coming from me as well, although real life has greatly impacted my ability to do as much with it as I wanted to do.
  16. Ayrlego, if you want to go ahead and correct the trade values before the MRCA deadline, go ahead. I can republish the corrected values, and everyone is aware of what is going on. As you said, relative value of settlements should be unchanged, which is the main thing for players who take trade values into account when planning for the MRCA.
  17. Trade values rise over time, and it's been a long time since we had accurate trade values to report. That said, it does seem like some values have gotten awfully high, and we're looking at making some adjustments to the formula to stabilize values a bit. Don't get too hung up on the numbers for now, and just consider it a way to compare ports.
  18. Great use of the roller skate piece! So that is a 3-piece micro. Excellent! The buildings surrounding the plaza are well done, too. I like that the viewing angle doesn't hover above it all. Well done.
  19. And as this may be of interest to Corrington as well...
  20. Letter have been sent. To Corrington: To Terraversa:
  21. Fuerte Unido July 13th, 620 AE Colonial Council Hall To Miro Oldis, Archduke of Terraversa My dear sir, It has been two years since Eslandola’s Grand Ambassador stood before you in your Noble Council to personally convey our official recognition of your independence from the colonial yoke of Mardier, establish a permanent embassy in Kings Port, and to enter our nations into a free trade agreement. In the time since, the agreement has proven to be mutually beneficial, and our ports of call have offered not only willing markets but shelter in storms and relief from the damage of same. Word has reached Eslandola, by way of Corrington, that there may be a foreign power funding and arming rebels against your independence. I convened our Colonial Council to discuss the matter, and we reaffirm Eslandola’s support of Terraversan independence. The Council authorizes me to inquire if you need any specific assistance from us at this time. The bearer of this letter, Lady Condora, is a member of our Council and is at your service in this matter. I hope that we can work together to keep your nation a beacon of light in the Brick Seas. I anxiously await your reply. Sincerely, Willem Guilder, Admius Legistrad, Eslandola
  22. Fuerte Unido July 13th, 620 AE Colonial Council Hall @Bregir To Don Isaac Montoya, Consul, Corrington My dear sir, I write to you in response to your letter of June 10 to Felipe de la Manzana. Eslandola’s Colonial Council has taken up the issue of our new approach to anti-piracy efforts, and the council has affirmed that, especially in light of our recent successes you may have read about in the Kings Port Advertiser, we intend to continue such efforts to ensure the safe navigation of the Brick Seas for all. I also add my personal compliments on your navy’s recent efforts around Terraversa, especially regarding the pirate LeColeon. With this assurance as to our commitment to anti-piracy efforts, I hope this letter finds you so inclined to follow through on your offer to de la Manzana to help him repatriate the ships The Lady Hawk, The Raenette, and Lady of Madrice II. Sincerely, Willem Guilder, Admius Legistrad, Eslandola
  23. The sign-up deadline for the next Trade MRCA is July 28, midnight, anywhere in the world. ---------------- To sign-up for the Trade MRCA, read the rules here and then sign-up via this form. For a ship to take part in the MRCA, it must be licensed. You can license your ship under the new ship rules via this form. If there are any issues (typo, wrong number of points or other issues) with this process, PM @Bregir. Note that the MRCA signup form still doesn’t have raids added yet, so if you’re interested in conducting a raid this turn, PM @Capt Wolf. If you’re just going to be trading, you can go ahead and fill out the forms normally. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IMPORTANT MAP ZONE INFORMATION: - Note that zone 34 connects to zone 36 - Explorers have confirmed that the open sea south of zone 35 is navigable. As such, zone 62 (unmarked on map) is available for travel in the MRCA. Zone 62 connects to zones 33, 35, 37, and 38. Cartographers are working to get the maps updated as soon as possible. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In addition to the information above, consult the following two maps for trade zone numbers before submitting any forms. First, the continental coast and the seas closest to northern Halos: IMPORTANT: Note that if you click on the above map to go to one you can zoom in on, there is an error on the linked map (zones 10 and 11 are mislabeled). Use the map visible above for proper zone labels. Second, here is the map for the New Haven Sea, which has a growing number of settlements: Note that Corrington's Proxyville (zone 49) has changed its name to Port Mordo, and that Eslandola has established a new settlement -- Punto Sur -- in zone 42 on the southwest coast of Maldria. Cartographers hope to have the map updated next month. Beware that the Lotus Kingdom is still engaged in hostilities with Carno and Corrington. Dangers abound in the waters around El Oleonda. Watch out for Lotus naval patrols! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And here (courtesy of @Ayrlego's hard work!) are the trade values as of July 13, 620. (Trade values for NPC and Old World ports are as of February 14, 619, and haven't had their trade values updated yet). When filling out your MRCA form, please make sure you spell the ports exactly as they appear below. 24. Guilder nodded to Willoughby. "Yes, the letter to Archduke Oldis will not commit us to any particular action. It will affirm our willingness to help, but only commit us to respond in this council to any request from Terraversa." Guilder surveyed his notes on the votes, then continued. "And with that, we have a clear majority for sending such a letter. Well done, council members!" Guilder looked around the hall at the assembled delegates, then focused on the Prio Seas delegation. "Lady Condora (@Faladrin), you volunteered to join an expedition to Terraversa. While it does not appear we will be embarking on an expedition at this time, we still need someone of suitable importance to deliver our message to Archduke Oldis. Would you be so kind as to hand deliver the letter to Oldis in Kings Port?"
