Does anyone have a prediction on the size of the BB-8 figure? I'm working on a MOC, and I want to leave enough space to upgrade the astromech in the future if I'm so inclined.

I agree with you in general with Lego capital ships, and the mini ties combined with the mini figs is bizarre. However, if you remove the ties, I quite like the set as a freighter more in scale with the millenium falcon. This only really works for me because the assault carrier isn't as iconic of a design as the star destroyer, so it is easier to repurpose it in my mind.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here

With the summer wave coming up soon, is there a good chance that any current sets will be clearanced, and are there any thoughts on the most likely bargains? -
While I certainly hope that you're right, if we play the history back a bit farther, I'm not convinced that we are really building toward something. 2009 - Space Police 3 2010 - CMF Series 1 Spaceman 2011 - CMF Series 3 Space Villain 2012 - CMF Series 6 Intergalactic Girl 2012 - CMF Series 7 Galactic Soldier I think at this point it would have also made sense to assume that Lego was be building toward something classic space related, but instead we got Galaxy Squad in 2013. Ultimately, I believe that Lego is doing well to cater to young fans as well as AFOLs, and that we will continue to see homages to Classic Space periodically, but I don't think we are going to see a big revival. Now, I still can't explain why the Futuron astronaut as a new print, and it seems odd to create a new figure with a new print for only that one set. Surely, Lego can't assume that they will drive a large number of sales of a $140 set to Space fans for a single minifigure, but it would be interesting to know how Lego figures the secondary market into their planning. If we see the figure again, my guess is that it would be in a promo set like the white astronaut last year, but we should probably consider that a long shot.

I can't say that I'm thrilled, but the design/colors seem a bit off, so there might be some slim hope that it's a prototype. This is not as upsetting as a change to the classic astronaut would have been, but it's still disappointing. I'd love to hear the rationale behind the decision before judging too harshly.

The early London reports mentioned that the Futuron astronaut was a display in the Lego store, so I'm looking at the fig in the upper left window.

There was a post on reddit with the first pics from the Nuremberg Toy Fair including the City Square. The images are small, but I can convince myself that there is a white triangle on the astronaut's chest. http://i.imgur.com/j7yur9rl.jpg Original post with all the images: http://m.imgur.com/a/2LRtm

This hadn't occurred to me when I read the article, but I have to admit that you're probably right. However, Lego has shown a willingness to throw in references to classic space in other themes, and for the cost of a new torso print (any maybe new arms/torso combo) it would create a bit more buzz than just including the green classic space figure that is still available. I'm going to stay cautiously optimistic and hope we see pictures soon.

I found an early London Toy Fair report from Brick Fanatics linked in Reddit. Quote: Jurassic World set coming out in May. Fires a net.) 75917 Raptor Rampage £49.99 (Only set with Chris Pratt character in, riding a motorbike. Two raptors.) 75918 T-Rex tracker £59.99 Original story: http://brickfanatics.co.uk/london-toy-fair-2015-report/

I found an early London Toy Fair report from Brick Fanatics linked in Reddit. While it was pretty disappointing from a Lego SciFi perspective, there was one interesting piece of news. Quote: Firstly there is a massive single standalone set: 60097 City Square £139.99, 14 minifigs (including a green Futuron guy and a Knight to go in the Lego Store), Coffee chain, LEGO store with Pick a Brick, truck, garage, tram and stop, hot dog cart (diff to free giveaway one) and a police station. The green classic space man was the highlight of 2014 for me, so this is pretty exciting news. It sounds like they may be tough to get, but I need at least one to be the admiral in charge of my green space contingent. Original story: http://brickfanatics.co.uk/london-toy-fair-2015-report/

As a workaround, I assume that the canopies are photochromic and can change colors based on ambient conditions. I generally use trans clear as the "natural" state of trans yellow.

Very nice design. To me, it looks a bit like a cryo pod with engines attached. I can imagine it as the fastest way to transport critical personnel over long distances.

Very nice build. Hopefully it's the start of a series of City of Tomorrow builds.

Sorry for the old news. I've been out of the loop on the licensed stuff, and apparently I didn't go back through enough pages. Thanks! -

2015 The LEGO Movie rumors and discussion
Backgild replied to just2good's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I love the character selection at reasonable price points, but I'm a bit underwhelmed with the builds. Both of my kids were lucky and able to get Emmets car from the ToysRUs event, but both want Benny, so we will probably end up with four cars. Something else with the couch would have been preferable to me, but this is a good opportunity for those that missed out. I love the inclusion of the chair with the bad cop pursuit, but this set looks less interesting overall than the first bad cop set. I was hoping for something from the Wild West, but my wallet won't complain about a pass. -
Very nice marines. They are all fantastic, but I really like the dk gray helmet and nvg combo. The guy on the left looks like a good start for a MOTU Man E Faces.

I don't plan on entering this contest, so I don't have a dog in the fight, but it seems that from the organizer's standpoint, it would be problematic to change the rules in such a significant way after the start. If it is one change to the core, is there any way you could modify the model slightly to to make it eligible? It's an impressive model, so I'd explore your options, imho.

REVIEW: 71007 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12
Backgild replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
The space miner is easily my most anticipated figure to add to my growing neo classic space collection. I'm generally not a fan of figures with names printed on them because it makes army building problematic. In this case, I can think of LICHO as a company name, either the mining firm or the suit manufacturer, so I might buy multiple.- 156 replies

Very nice build! I'm impressed with how well the windscreen works for the exo suit, but if I had to offer one suggestion, I'd say that there might be a little too much yellow on the feet. I'm looking forward to updates on this when you add the gun arms.

Very well done! M:Tron was toward the end of my primary Lego playing years, but I have great memories of the Stellar Recon Voyager, and I would love to see your take on it.

I'm still bummed that this wasn't the August bonus, but I can certainly see how this works in Lego's favor. After the Exo Suit and RI this month, I don't think I can make a big enough order to get the Sept. bonus. White is probably my least favorite of the classic space colors, so at least missing it doesn't hurt as much as if it were another color.

It looks like the limit on the US shop at home has dropped from 2 to 1, if it's not a site issue. I'm hopeful for another production run to add a couple more to my space ranks.

I believe that I successfully ordered last night, but it was during the initial "out of stock, ships in 30 days" period before it just said available, so I have no idea when it will arrive. Can someone help me reconcile the current note of "out of stock, ships august 15" with a single production run? Does this mean that the run is not complete, or just that there are more in the logistics pipeline? Also, is there any potential for dropping the limit of 2 or allowing additional orders if it isn't a sellout? I have two kids and was hoping to buy one for each of them and at least one for myself.
