Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Yzalirk replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Yes, this does help a lot! Thank you. Good call. Your link doesn't work for me but I'll ask there. Why did I not think of that? -
OoC: I think you forgot me, Kintobor.

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Yzalirk replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
I'm stumped on something guys and hopefully you guys can help me out. Okay, so, I want to build a ship but I don't want to buy a set that has one. If I buy parts for the hull of the ship, like this and this, what do I need to add or cover up the part that is the "gap" and what would I need to make say a captain's quarters? I also need to know this for some Steampunk things I plan to build. And since I'm asking about parts, maybe anyone can recognize the tracks from this image? Same applies to this image and this image. -

What is ideal for a Steampunk Airship hull?
Yzalirk replied to Yzalirk's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Besides the parts for the hull, what else would I need for the hull? By that, I mean what bricks are also needed except for the pirate ship hulls. I have a blimp as well to use, the one from an old Johnny Thunder set. -

Don't play the game here, guys. -
Mhinak sighs, perhaps out of disappointment. "Perhaps I should see what this is all about." Mhinak signs up for Quest #126
-
"Perhaps the Gnome can give me some pointers about wielding a larger Hand Cannon. I hear the kick on some of these things feel like getting stampeded by horses for a few minutes. Not a pleasant thought but nothing sure is better than the sweet sound of explosions."
-
That would make for a pretty cool quest. Would it be when the city is above water level or below? I think some "Easter Eggs" about the actual story would be pretty cool for the quest with slight alterations to fit Heroica better, like perhaps maybe a Dwarven rendition of the Nautilus to give it a more Steampunk vibe?
-
Trust me, I do know but why turn something completely innocent into a sexual innuendo?
-
What parts would be good for creating the hull for a Steampunk Airship? I assume it would be ones from pirate ships?
-
What are you literally going on about..?
-
Well then that's their decision. Personally, I'd be a either a Space Merchant, Con-Artist, or whatever Han Solo would be considered.
-
I know I'm still quite new to SoNE but I agree with everything I read here, especially about the lack of possibilities for characters. I think that an almost open-world sort of thing would be better. I really wanted to either be a Bounty Hunter or "Space Merchant" since those professions appeal to me more than to be a mindless drone serving for the Empire. Hopefully nobody takes offense to this but in GoH, I love the possibilities for different characters people can have. I'll be honest and say that's why I'm hardly ever active here and the other reason being is that I feel like other people aren't active as well. I think it should be more like Heroica in the sense there are different professions your character be be in and join different factions. People in Heroica are very nice and active and that's what I want to see. Hopefully I'm not the only that feels this way...

Don't worry, someday I'll have a more significant Hand Cannon equipped and isn't as small as the "Dinky" Hand Cannon.

"No need to further explain it, Elf, I can always research what I wish to know. Speaking of which, I never caught any of your names and it was rude of me to not introduce myself so I guess it's better late than never. The name's Mhinak, skilled Dwarven tinkerer and researcher. I joined up to help people in need when others will not. If you hadn't noticed this baby here, well now you do. I haven't named her since well, she's not of my creation. I like to call these Hand Cannons because well, it's like a cannon fit in a compact size for your hand. It's small but definitely packs a punch. I know she ain't a beaut but she gets the job done." Mhinak smiles and lifts up his "Dinky" Hand Cannon revealing it to anyone near him.

Party Lines Mafia - C&D: Inauguration

This is definitely a tense game and I want to see a good lynch and vigilante attack. -
"No, nothing else laddie. That's very interesting yet very complicated. Right now it's kind of hard to describe the way I feel about magic but I do find the subject interesting. Perhaps magic is too complicated for Dwarves like myself since we've never had any use for it. Well as long as it protects you, than you're set. I'll just stick to Crossbows and Hand Cannons because they are simple. Swords are simple too but they are no fun."
-
Good call, I'll add them to the list in a little bit.
-
"Exactly how does it work? I know how a Crossbow and a Hand Cannon but when it comes to using different elements of nature, how can a staff do that? I've read old books about enchanted weaponry so I'm guessing it's the same thing? Please, correct me if I'm wrong laddie."
-
Mhinak frowns but begins to shrug it off while he talks. "Well it's good to still have a friend with you, a close one that is. When I used to live back in Nalkahm as a young inventor, I did have some friends that were kind of close until everything changed. But that is a story I do not like to tell, sorry. Anyways, I'm not very fond of the use of magic since I'm a Dwarf and we usually aren't supporters for it. Care to shed any light on it?"

βTHIS IS GOING TO BE ALMOST LIKE A CONTINUOUS WIP WITH EVERYTHING FROM BRICKS AND PARTS TO AcTUAL TECHNIQUES WITH EXAMPLES. EVERYONE CAN HELP WITH THE GUIDE, JUST POST ANY INFORMATION AND I'LL ADD IT TO THE ACTUAL GUIDE. ALSO, STEAMPUNK EXPERTS, PLEASE HELP OUT AS WELL. THE MAIN PURPOSE OF THE GUIDE IS TO HELP LEGO BUILDERS GET INTO THE BUILDING PROCESS OF STEAMPUNK BUILDING AND ALSO IS AWARE OF BASIC PARTS TO GET! THANK YOU GUYS AND I LOOK FORWARD TO ANY HELP. Ultimate Steampunk Guide First and foremost, welcome to the Ultimate Steampunk Guide! There has been no guide that I've ever found so I've decided to basically put one together of my own. Of course, it'll be a continuous WIP that will be updated every single day with new bricks and techniques added to the list. Minifig parts will also be in the guide as well so don't worry. All help is appreciated towards the guide and I'd like to view it more as a "Community Guide" rather than "Goliath's Guide" because well... it's complicated. The guide is to mainly help people who want to build Steampunk MOC's but simply don't know where to start, like myself. This guide will be a compilation of just about everything that is needed to know. Steampunk MOCs will be shown here with the permission of the builders, of course. Having that said, take a look! Bricks 1 x 1 1 x 2 1 x 3 1 x 4 (NOTE!) - These are the standard brick sizes. You do not need any bricks larger than these four types! Also, note that the colors of these bricks can vary but I'd recommend getting the bricks in Dark Bluish Gray, Dark Red, Red, Brown, Dark Green, and Dark Blue. These can be used for walls of buildings, airships, or other machines. But mainly for machines and airships, you'll want to use Dark Bluish Gray and Brown to represent steel and wood.

"Is Quarion a friend? And exactly how does his skull float around?"

What parts are necessary for Steampunk builds?
Yzalirk replied to Yzalirk's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Okay, thanks guy. I'm still going to have to gather up more essential parts to add to the list as well. And does that book have a list of parts in it already as well as techniques? From what I saw on Amazon, it looks like it just shows pictures of builds but doesn't actually help teach you to build. -
Mhinak listens to the conversation about the floating head and raises his left eyebrow. "That's insane, laddie! When you said 'he', I assume you were talking about the head so what was 'his' name, if you don't mind me asking. And how do you know the head was a 'he'?"
