LEGO Collectable Minifigures Future Series Rumours
Vindicare replied to r4-g9's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yikes. If this is what’s happening going forward, I’m out. For $5 & not knowing which minifig I’m getting...no thanks. I’d rather spend that on sets. If they do make thus change they’ll need to cut the price by a couple bucks to keep me as a frequent buyer. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 21. Rumors and discussion
Vindicare replied to Robert8's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I kinda agree. If the parts & prints are great, I’m okay with paying $5. At least in some instances. Like the Dog Sitter. She came with two dogs, one of which is brand new. That’s not a bad deal to me. However, paying $5 for that Firefighter was not happening. As long as they give us fun new parts/colors-like the keytar- I’m happy. $5 is pretty much my ceiling though. Unless I really loved them I can’t see myself buying them if they go up in price. With the probable exception being HP. Being a huge fan I’m not sure I could resist. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Vindicare replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I think they have plenty of years very left. They certainly have plenty of building options, many of which have been suggested here over the years. New building techniques are always coming so I don’t see a problem with them amazing us with the buildings. Just look at how they’ve advanced in the time we’ve had them. I do like the idea of an abandoned building though. I doubt we’ll ever see that realized in this series however. Having a lineup of beautiful, pristine buildings....then a rundown one. Not sure what kind of general appeal that would have. -
That’s the one, yeah. I suppose it’s not very new anymore...
-
Yeah, the one I went to must’ve had just the last few left. I went in looking for the diver polybag & there was a few of the HP one mingled in the basket.
-
For anyone in the States looking for the new polybag, I found it at JoAnns Fabrics. I didn’t really want it, but I was rather excited at the surprise of finding it so I grabbed one.

Even though it’s a 2020 set I’m gonna put this find here. For those in the States, unless the shop is overseas, I found 30370 Diver polybag...at JoAnns Fabrics of all places. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

While they made it kid friendly, there was the cookie smuggling ring in the Detective’s Office, and the accompanying Flower Cart polybag. I know a fair amount of people weren’t fans of it, but I loved it. Ace still hasn’t figured out if Al is involved... I suppose they could have candy/snack betting, which would be kinda hilarious. As for a police station, it has to be a 30’s one with the big stairs out front & the globes on the ends. Preferably with “POLICE” written on them. -
Is TLG now definitely phasing out baseplates?
Vindicare replied to merman's topic in General LEGO Discussion
For me, the biggest issue is the plates, making them incompatible with the road plates. I’ve already invested so much into road plates & have a hard enough time keeping up with sets I want. I’d rather not have to waste money on pieces to make the roads work, whichever way I were to go. -
Privet Drive says hello. Much like that, Grimmauld Place is more about the interior setting than its exterior. Still, I think it would make for a fine building.
-
They could do a mix. They could have vault 713 with the Stone & then have the Ironbelly as well. Since we have the early years trio already, they could give us the de-polyjuiced versions of them in Gringotts. You didn’t have to just buy HP to get the small DA, I already had the wave when the GWP was available & I still got it. I don’t recall if the latest Brickheadz was specified as such, because I was more focused on DA & I ordered before the promo went live.

I’m not quite sure why tiling studded areas seems to be a negative to you? Adding train tracks to road plates isn’t difficult. A friend lined up two rows of road plates & using the studded area as a train track with a cable car on it. So he had multi lane & tracks on road plates. -
I could see this. The past AC’s actually added stuff. The first one, to fill up the GH/Castle & this year’s for the Ball, more than just a dance floor & a couple tables is warranted I’d say. But for the Slug Club party...I can’t think of any worthwhile builds appropriate in the AC. Ditto. If it came down to it, I’d rather be sure to get Gringotts to add to DA & potentially miss out on Hogsmeade. Like you, id rather just have the building. Then have the dragon be it’s own set, the details would be better off that way too.

We are getting a new road system next year. The parts look similar to the old soccer field that connected with tiles. So we’ll have 90 degree turns but they won’t work with buildings on baseplates.

Plenty of people do most of that stuff. Bridges, inclines, additional lanes, curbside parking, subway tunnels(and elevated train tracks), & bike lanes. The only real limitation is road size/shape. And that’s if you don’t count cutting baseplates(). I’ve seen people get very creative & make due with the roadplates. -
I’m with you guys. While I appreciate more HP, I rather liked the more affordable waves. I snuck DA in this year, but if what next year looks like continues...I fear it may fall off for me, much like SW. Other themes & sets have already been kicked to the curb in favor of getting all of HP.

Haha yeah, very early on...like when there was only 4 Modulars, I did that. Moved the Modulars up on their baseplates to make the sidewalks cover the studded area of the road plates. That way did not last long. It was a pain. I didn’t, and still don’t, MOC because I’m a set sorter as opposed to a parts sorter, so that kinda limits my parts selection as I’d rather buy sets. I only buy parts to make little additions to my town. As I said above, I just extended the sidewalks a bit. I left the end two rows of studs for a bike lane, so my sidewalks don’t look too wide. I don’t hate this new system as much as when it was first announced after seeing the catalog, but I still think it’s an awful idea if they stop selling the road plates. -
Bringing this back up because I was unaware(although I see it on the list above me from Sept) of the coral floatie. I called the two usual stores I go to for the new dachshund & astronaut pug torso...no luck. But one did mention the floatie & an “iguana”...which is the chameleon I’m sure. Has anyone gotten an exclusive one or is it just the CMF one?
-
I was wondering that too when I finally got my hands on the team...then I watched the season. It had something to do with him being a robot & I believe their reasoning was he wouldn’t function properly inside the video game world. Got the Orange Spaceman! Bought the book today. Flipped through it & it looks great. Should be a fun, and lengthy, read.

You must not pay much attention to town builders, the road plates are great for Modulars. It’s a bug reason why people are buying the road plates up before they go away. There’s no need to rebuild the buildings to make them work with the baseplates either, there’s much easier ways. Some just tile the road plates & snug them up to the Modulars, some, like myself, take the light grey tiles & move them forward then connect the two with 2x2 tiles. Keeps them together well but also makes it easy to switch stuff around. The only reason one would do brick built roads is for more freedom. I would love to have right/left 90* turns instead of the curve plates, but I just make due using the T-Junction plates. -

I do too, but that’s because I seek out the town layout folks. But when I just look at LEGO pics, I see a fair number of shelf displays too. They don’t necessarily need modding to work with Modulars as you can just sit the road plates next to/in front of. That’s what I did early on before I got a bunch of 2x2 dark grey tiles. As I said above, I’ve seen a good number of both towns & shelves, but I seek out the towns, so I can’t accurately say which is the more used display choice. I could see the display space factoring into changing the roads, good point. The Creator/new City coupled with the new roads could work well on a shelf I bet. -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Vindicare replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I would love to see...cool yellow I believe it is(the color of the ice cream shop in DA), as a Modular building color. As the aforementioned DA set shows, it works well, even if the building is significantly smaller than a Modular. It pairs well with a whole host of colors. People finding reason to complain even over the little strip of pink that was in the Diner set was a bit baffling. But, people have their preferences on color, for better or worse, so just gotta roll with it. I feel like they could’ve gone with a red Diner sign, but I love the pink. It’s definitely more eye catching, like neon is supposed to be. I don’t see a problem with colors used in any of the other Modulars you listed as well. -

That would be ideal. I would imagine Modulars are a big enough business that it would warrant keeping the road plates. But then, how many of the total Modular buyers use road plates with them. I see a lot of towns that do & then I also see a fair few who just put them on a shelf. -

It’s from a place of frustration & annoyance, as I have a city full of Modulars. Knowing their recent Creator buildings & seeing next year’s City offerings I get it. For all we know they could still be keeping the road plates around, if there isn’t much of a production inconvenience involved, so all this moaning could be for nothing.
